That makes sense, thanks.

I was just referring to Mr. Tissue Box in regards to Game Informer revealing a cover in October at PAX. Feburary sounds resonable! I really have no thoughts on Game informer, I just try to state fact or extended extrapolations. :)

No problem. I'm still hoping for a PAX announcement. I'll be twittering @SIRBOSCH while I'm there. You can be sure I'll check these areas out and post anything I find ES related.

**EDIT**

Double post...sorry all.

However if Bethesda announced TES V now it would mean juggling a lot of balls all at once. Getting New Vegas on to the shelf means they have that much more breathing room to throw TES V in to the mix.

I am quite sure this is why Pete hasn't told Todd to show it yet... the publishing/marketing arm is probably at their limit right now with all the games and the marketing hype that when the fervor reaches its climix for FONV in October, it would be too much to handle TESV as well. I don't think it has anything to do with disuading people from buying FONV.

I must say, that I was about to stop reading the speculation thread, and bam, this interview svcked me back in... dang it! Oh and to all of you I fought claiming that it would be on the next gen of consoles... I svck I WAS WRONG!! heehee

Just checking in on the discussion (I saw the article link :celebration: ). Is February the general consensus on an announcement or are there other solid theories?

PAX seems waaaaaay too soon for an announcement. Besides, I thought people would have learned by now, Bethesda doesn't do game announcements at conventions. Quakecon was a possibility because of what Pete said but obviously he didn't mean that kind of announcement. Every time a gaming convention comes along people get hyped up, only to walk away disappointed when nothing happens. Bethesda is most definitely going to have a Game Informer reveal like they did with their last 2 games. But they still won't do the actual announcement via GI. Bethesda will announce the game on their own time, on a day of their choosing. They may show the game at a gaming convention and they may reveal the game via Game Informer but saying "I hope it will be at Game Convention 123" is pointless because it wont be announced at one.

I'm liking the assumption that Bethesda's marketing has too much on their plate right now. So possibly a few months after New Vegas is released, say they may make an announcement.

If we anolyze whats been said about BRiNK's release date, it'd seem like its going to be release quarter 2 of 2011 (possibly spring).

Now lets throw Arkane in the mix. According to a former manager, they've been knee deep in the development in an unannounced title which is going to be released early 2011.

On top of that they apparently have another title they're working on (like Bethesda Game Studios), according to a job posting.

I'm guessing the February GI, which would be released in January...So I'm expecting TES V to be announced in January.

Unless Pete made that comment with the idea of announcing BGS's new game in mind, and for some reason in the past couple months deicided against announing it. After all Todd did say the game is ready to show but I don't really think it's going to be announced as early as next month either, just throwing ideas around.

I've had a thought.

This:

Seems to imply that the game will be using Gamebryo, considering it seems to be taken in comparison to Oblivion and Fallout 3.

But then he says:

Does that mean that it won't be a TES game? Because they don't really work with the standard XP system, I hope they keep it to the skills format.

Pretty sure they were talking about future Fallout games and DLC. In fact, YES they were talking about the next Fallout because it was a DIRECT response to the raising of the Level Cap in the Fallout 3 DLC question:

Eurogamer: You did a level-cap bump in one of the Fallout packs. Is that an appropriate thing to do in premium DLC? It feels like a feature that people would associate with the core game, whereas a lot of the content you did was more discrete.

Todd Howard: I don't know - I mean, a lot of games do it, like World of Warcraft, so we tried it. I think it worked out okay for that game, but going forward if we had to completely redo Fallout 3 we'd probably not have a level cap, because it just makes the game more fun to level up.

It just does. The sense of accomplishment every time you do something to get some XP. So I think we'll make efforts in the future to not have one.

It sounded like they don't even know for sure when they are announcing the game (or if they did, they at least knew it was far enough into the future), so I would think that PAX is out of the question, unless they plan on doing a super surprise announcement

Im sure Pete Hines knows exactly when he wants the game to be announced and is just playing dumb saying "we aren't sure when we want to announce the game." But when they do, this fantasy fan will crapping himself.

Remember last year when Pete said, "Todd will announce his next project when they're ready to do it" (paraphrasing) from the Blog post about how there will be another ES game.

It seems Pete is just waiting for NV to get out the door.

I agree. I also think, since todd said that the turnaround is going to be so short, we may see a release during the 2011 holiday season.

Well if it is Pete deciding when they announce it then I guess that's possible. Don't get me wrong, I still don't think an announcement will overshadow New Vegas' release, but I guess Pete thinks otherwise.

What does everyone think of this. New Vegas is released at the end of October, then in early November the cover for the December issue is revealed to be TES V. Then a year later it's released right in time for the holiday season of 2011.

He's specifically referencing Fallout 3 there, I don't think the example itself has anything to do with future games just the general sentiment about level caps.

Agreed! It seems my marketing rant even convinced me ;). I do believe you make the most sense.

It only everyone on this forum was as clear-headed as you mrbosch! ;)

They said the turn around time would be the shortest yet. With a 1 year wait for the release does a 2011 holiday release still fit?

Well it has to be shorter than 1 year and 5 months or so, so 1 year would fit.
