Official TES V Speculation Thread # 61

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:49 pm

Hi,

Just go my copy of GI, (Australian) and one little tidbit I noticed on page 7,

"2011 will be the year of the RPG"

Just wondering if we, (as TES Fans) should read anything into that statement?

Weird did they say anything else?because that could have been some dragon age 2 hype.

That was a very good point. I hadn't thought of that. :celebration:

On top of that, Fallout 4 would compete even more with FONV than TESV, wouldn't you say? And someone from the dev team already said long time ago that they're hoping to get TESV out by 2010. Now why would anyone say something like that if they didn't have TESV even in preproduction? Logical deduction > pessimism. :flamethrower:

About release date. Considering that Howard 1) is and has been for some time ready to make it public and they 2) normally do that 1.5-2 years before launch, one would assume it's at maximum about 1.5 years or a little more away from launch. That would put it just between Christmas 2011 and Q2 2002. However, if Howard's remark about unusually short delay between announcing the game and launching it means not small, but big leap away from previous trends, then they really might be aiming at Christmas. And of course $-wise, it makes sense if they can pull it. And they have a good announcement windows around this Christmas, few months after Fallout's release.

Fixed it because I don't want retards thinking tes v was released in 2002.

Already been confirmed by an obsidian member that bethesda are not working on fallout 4. I think it will be in pre production now though, just like our new elder scrolls was second priority while fallout 3 was in production. So yeah.... elder scrolls and nords and skyrim and stuffs. awesome.

Nope, it was just a liitle quote, with three unrelated ones on the side of a page, with the title "Things We Learned".

When you think about this, it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise that we may be nearing an announcement. Paul Oughton's huge gaffe in late 2008 clearly revealed there could potentially be an Elder Scrolls release this year. This guy is the publishing executive for Bethesda. Pretty high up the food-chain. When you add in the fact that an interview with Pete Hines way back when indicated ( without quotes) that the gamesas team would break off into three groups, one of which was to work on early ES development, it's looking pretty good.

Maybe after FO:NV in November we'll have a Christmas GI cover, and a game to play in March. That would fulfill Todd's assertion that this will be the fastest announcement to release in their companies history.

Even with what Todd Howard said, that seems a tad bit too quick... if we get a GI cover in December, the earliest i could see it's release being would be June, but even that seems unlikely, as they would likely showcase it at E3... seems more likely that a 2011 fall release would happen (if anything) with a Dec 2010 GI cover.

Not to be a pessimist... I would love a short 3 - 4 month period between announcement and release, personally :foodndrink: :foodndrink:

Why do everyone think that GI will be the one breaking the ice?

it won't "Break the Ice" necessarily. They, in the past, normally announce it on the site first, and a day or two later the GI cover is revealed... So it's more of a way to draw publicity to it

Is it possible that the book could be the actual announcement of the game? Similar to DA awakenings stand alone disc having a Feb 2011 date? Probably a little out there, but the fan base has never had books in the mix between games to bridge the gap from one to the next.We all no how important the lore is to TES and BGS.

I take that as a very good sign. Add that to the fact that in the previous issue there was a picture of Todd Howard at dinner with Andrew Reiner(GI editor) and I think its safe to assume that GI knows more about Bethesda's game than the general public. I predict that the no word mark will pop up sometime in October and that the December issue of GI(released in November) will bring us great tidings of TES V joy.

This is what I am wondering to, since the title of the next book hasn't been said yet maybe the title will be the sub title for TES V?
I think we should look into it.When the next book comes out try to think if you believe it to sound like a subtitle to a game, kinda like The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, that kinda deal you know? :flamethrower:

Not that it necessarily helps in speculation, but just as an aside:

Did anyone catch up on the fact that http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-17-mass-effect-2-confirmed-for-ps3? Now, that may not seem related on the surface, but - IIRC and that's often a big IF - there was a picture of a document circulating these threads before E3 where the same news was said to be announced at Sony's presser. It didn't happen, obviously. Interestingly, in that document TESV was also said to be announced at E3. The document was discredited as notable source of speculation / seen as mere rumor because of some of the more controversial titles it contained. Still, merely out of interest, does anyone know if the picture is still around somewhere? I'd just like to see it again.

That ridiculous document said that at E3 2010, Mass Effect 3 would be announced for PS3. While that is possible now, it wasn't even close to possible at E3 and the document as still wrong on many other things.

2011 will be a very good year for RPGs, not counting TES V. I'm not currently on my computer so I can't look at my list of games coming out in 2011 but off the top of my head there's Gothic 4, Kingdoms of Amalur, and 2+ more I'm not forgetting. We shouldn't read into it at all.

What he means is that the book isn't being written by Bethesda, the game will be finished at the same rate. How is that depressing?

The book will effect the story! It will change the lore and available factions. Trust me, the book will have noticeable effects on Skyrim "in game".

This is what I wanted to hear more :foodndrink: So IS the game going to be in Skyrim?
Need to look up my info on there than lol

And btw, how do you muliquote? I just tried and it didn't load anything

"What he means is that the book isn't being written by Bethesda, the game will be finished at the same rate. How is that depressing?"

Yes I know it is not but I was just hoping like I said that maybe the book would have a big inpact on the game, like Bethesda gives the writer some info on the upcoming game and what not

I'm not sure if this was posted or not, and it's not in the first post, but Ken Levine's Interview with Todd Howard is really interesting. It gives some nice insight into what the possible design aspects of Bethesda's next game. Of course, no hard news on their next game could be. But none the less, encouraging that he's still this passionate. Also, his interviews are always interesting.

I just got the impression with what he said that when the announcement comes it would be significantly less time than typical. So maybe it will be announced in the late winter/early spring so that it can still be shown at E3, but be released pretty quickly? Who knows. I just really hope this mystery game is Elder Scrolls.
