Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 6:34 pm

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1105916-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-172/. Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

We've received a lot of interesting new recently. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-16-bethesdas-todd-howard-interview?page=1 has a wealth of new information to speculate on including that they're "in production on the new game, and we have a design going for the one after that." This shouldn't be too surprising, after Bethesda's expansion near the end of Oblivion's developement they were large enough to maintained staggered developement on two games (which allowed them to complete most of Fallout 3's pre-production while finishing Oblivion up) while still having the option of focusing most everyone on a single project.

Also interesting is http://pc.ign.com/articles/111/1112464p1.html which reveals that Bethesda's next game will not be using id tech 5. Todd explains that the "new engine built for its upcoming title is more beneficial to creating huge, open-world games, such as Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, while id Tech 5 is better for more contained environments."

I am guessing a Q4 2010 GI announcement and a Q3-Q4 2011 release. Just putting it out there for the beginning of the thread .

Just for future reference wbfe you should press the edit button to add something to your post. Try not to put 3 posts in a row. :)

Since they've updated thier gambryo system, Im wondering if ESV will be bigger than Oblivion. This is just speculation but I've heard through a graqe vine that TESV will take place in Skyrim and another province.

I heard it would too but that does not seem to Bethesda's style. If it does take place in two provinces then I'm sure it will be High Rock and Skyrim.

I personally would be happy out of my mind if we got to go to two provinces. Imagine the diversity of the landscapes eh? Sooo awesome.

2 provinces would make the world way bigger than Cyrodill and a crap load more hours of gameplay and quests.

Unless they scale it down.

Personally I'm hoping they just focus on specific area like in Morrowind and make it really detailed and fleshed out.

It would not really make it bigger than Cyrodill. Look at Highrock and Skyrim on the map. Together they are about the same size as Cyrodill.

Look, I heard that there would be two provinces from some 26 year old Layman on these forums a while back. He did seem to know what he was talking about though.

I believe you. My first thought was High Rock and Skyrim. I've also though Summerset Isle because some people still talk about it. I'm still sticking with my first guess.

I personally think that it will just be Skyrim. Why call the game Skyrim if it takes place in Skyrim AND High Rock?

It would make sense if, for some strange reason, High Rock became a part of Skyrim. Which is possible, but unlikely.

Personally, I'm expecting one province, and if two end up making it into the game, then I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Oblivion did not take place fully in Oblivion and Daggerfall didn't take place only in Daggerfall...

maybe it will be set in Skyrim but in a quest you are taken to the imperial city? just a thought, would be nice though, dont have to have the whole of cyrodil added in or anything.

On top of that, Arena didn't even have an Arena and Morrowind only took place on Vvardenfell, which may not be quite like the rest of the province.

If we go by what Todd has said, that they've been working on the new game for 2 years, then I don't think it will be two provinces. Or, if it is, it won't be out next year like we hope. Two years isnt long enough to create two whole provinces in the detail we would expect

Eh, I guess you are right Sylt. Morrowind did not even take place out of Vardenfell. It just seems weird to call it Skyrim but have the land mass equal with High Rock. :P

I don't think we should be speculating based on the graqevine. My graqevine tells me the game will be out late '11 early '12 and will heavily feature Atmora. Anyone want to believe that?

Well they don't have to be whole provinces, as a previous post mentions Morrowind wasn't even all of Morrowind either... they could do whatever they want... perhaps the plot of the game is to decide the conquest of Skyrim and the warring provinces that surround it along with Akavir are now at war and it takes place in parts of three provinces and borderlands of another continent.. we have no way of knowing, but that doesn't mean Bethesda can't make it amazing tastes like a sampler plate a la "Tour of Tamriel"

Akavir couldn't be farther away from Skyrim if it tried. Theres really no plausible way to tie the two together without a whole lot of weaseling.

Mankar: the point was that I could just have pulled that out of my nether regions. Unless someone provides a verifiable source, speculation is useless.

I meant Atmora, sorry, my point wasn't geographic it was that the title of the game doesn't dictate the constraints of the landmasses playable within the game.

We all know that Skyrim was mentioned in Oblivion but I thought I heard talk about some crap going down in High Rock as well.
