Official TES V Speculation Thread # 63

Post » Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:39 am

Edit: Nevermind, looks like somebody took the website name... not a good sign.

Double Edit: http://Skyrim.mobi takes you to the OFFICIAL TES PAGE. Hmmm...

Which means somebody bought it and linked it to the official TES page...

Hmmmm...

Triple Edit: Somebody, meaning http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/skyrim.mobi. That page has all the info on it about it being Zenimax's copyright and everything.

If they don't use it by December 10th they lose the right to use it. And this was done June 2008, putting it right near the "two year" mark from... well... right now. Interesting, no? I'm expecting an announcement this year. :)

I hate it when they say "very soon." The next interview they talk about will probably be just what that little article talks about. I doubt it will have a new info on the supposed ESV. I hope Im wrong.

That information came from the Eurogamer interview that apparently the article above tried to exploit into a much larger story than it really is. My take on it is that Todd had a design doc he'd put together on the side for this mobile game. It likely never progressed much beyond the concept stage. Todd said he tabled it because ID were already doing a lot of mobile development. There's little fruit to gain by reading any deeper into this.

While I think a mobile game is actually a possibility... :stare: (glaring at the possibility of that)

They said they've had something big in production for about two years, and two years ago Skyrim.mobi was made.

Hard to believe a mobile phone game is a huge project that takes two years.

Agreed. You don't have a 90+ team spend 2 years on a Mobile game.

Wasn't Elder scrolls Oblivion turned into a cell phone game as well?

Edit: Whoops missread.

I meant to suggest that the two years was a sign that it wasn't a cellphone game, whoops.

Actually it will be and the full game as well.
Remember that Oblivion was made into a mobile game.
So this Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will also be made into a mobile game.
This is basically assurance that Elder Scrolls 5 is in the go and will be in Skyrim.

I am solidly convinced of this.

While I like your train of thought here as it could indicate something like that, I don't think that having travels games in the past means that TESV will have a travels game as well... after-all Bethesda could have asked someone to make a mobile Fallout game as another marketing tie in, goodness knows it would have sold like hot-cakes, but they didn't. We don't really have any reason to think that TESV will have a mobile incarnation (heehee, I say that like we have some proof that TESV really is being made, oh silly me!)

Skyrim Mobile is the proof.

Oblivion mobile isn't a Travels game. At least it wasn't considered part of the Travel series.

Consider they have been working on a game for Two years, around the time of the Skyrim Mobile popped up. Coincidence? Obviously the next game will have a Mobile counter part, called Skyrim mobile.

They didn't know if Fallout 3 would be successful and therefore it was to risky to have a Mobile game made as well. BGS studios doesn't actually make the Mobile games they get some other guys(TKO Software and Vir2L Studios) to do it. And these guys may not have wanted to make a Fallout mobile.

Hey, I said I liked your train of thought, but there isn't anything but a website name (skyrim.mobi) that may or may not be relative to a mobile game, but point to elderscrolls.com... and yeah it wasn't a Travels game it was a mobile "version"... I would love to call it proof too, it just is what the trademark is to me, an existing Skyrim - Zenimax/Bethesda thing-a-mabob! It doesn't take a genius to see that there is already enough interest to trademark the name Skyrim, so acquiring the rights to a .mobi site makes as much sense, but isn't any more "proof" than the fact that they trademarked the name, that is all I am saying :)

Ahh...good catch. However, it still doesn't negate what Todd indeed said in the Eurogamer interview and its bearing on the discussion at hand.

One more thing I'll add...is Todd's comment on how the new game will make the current consoles look new rules out the possibility of it being a mobile game. However, I suppose it's possible they could come out with a mobile version of the game but I have a hard time seeing it at the same priority level as the consoles and PC.

I know. Its just wishful thinking. I just can't stand the negative opinion on this topic.
They can't be working on Fallout 4 because of New Vegas.
A new IP is to risky. Considering, they just took on Fallout.
Everyone, not just us here on forums, is looking at them for a new elder scrolls.
After TES 5 I can see a new IP.
TES fans will be content with TES 5.
And Fallout fans have New Vegas.

Well did they trademark any of the travels games? I think that would be a major factor when determining whether this is TES:V Mobile or a solely mobile title.

Also are there any other sites besides the two previously mentioned?

EDIT: Ok after teaching myself how to use the USPTO's search option I found out that they did trademark Shadowkey but no other mobile games (except Oblivion which I would assume covers all incarnations of the game). But Shadowkey is trademarked under "Computer Game Programs Offered via Handheld Computers" and that is the only trademark for it, Skyrim has one of these as well but that comes along with the one for games for console and PC as well as manuals (which mobile games typically don't have) and clothing and etc. It is safe to say that Skyrim is looking to be TES:V and not just a mobile only game.

I would just like to chime in and mention that while you may feel very sure of something, nothing is certain. Everything we say in here is purely speculation. In your recent posts you seem to be taking this website and using it to say that not only are they making TES V, but they are making a mobile version as well. But the thing is, none of that is any more than speculation. I'm just saying, this website isn't "proof" of anything, so you shouldn't act like it is.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if this .mobi site is a relic from back before they essentially scrapped the mobile game Todd was talking about. It could be that the mobile game was indeed a mobile version of TES V, and they bought the .mobi site for it, but they then decided to cancel it and decided to just let the domain expire on it's own.

My bet is that they will reveal TESV by having GStaff change his avatar to the TESV cover art, and then he posts in this thread saying: "I know something you don't know."

That would be the most epic TES announcement ever! :mohawk:

So for those of you who are scrounging for data regarding the next installment in The Elder Scrolls series, just wanted you to know about another pitfall I fell into. I now know a lot more about how to track and predict cyclones and other meteorological activity, and partly by accident. I started pouring over research papers and strange documents from universities as well as aircraft manufacturers about 6 months ago. I found a lot of it interesting, so I just started reading and learning more about it, but the standard acronym for Total Energy Singular Vector(s) is TESV. When I started reading the pdfs, I thought they were models for weather system generating algorithms in the next game, and I was very impressed... but I can be oblivious and dense too... so just thought I'd mention it.

That is awesome on so many levels :vaultboy:

Think about it; if TES:V wasn't being made... would all these coincidences, little clues and shady websites even exist?

Errrrmm...yes? Refer to above quote. I must admit that the discovery of this skyrim.mobi is...unnerving, it is almost proof that something is being made. I believe that this website may have to be added to the watch-list :batman:

We have about 90 people on the team, but not everyone is on the main game. Most people are.

Just pointing out that it isn't quite 90 people who are working on their main project.
