Official TES V Speculation Thread # 65

Post » Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:39 pm

Bethesda opening up another publishing office doesn't really mean anything for Bethesda Game Studios and TES V.

Yeah I'm not seeing how this has anything to do with TES:V either. Companies open up new branches in different areas all the time.

It's got to be announced this year. December GI is my bet.

That's what I thought. I still expect to hear something in October or November, because FONV will hit the shelves in October.

Hey I just agreed. It was Bretayer of Humanity's idea :P like it's been said I think it's both related to FO NV for marketing reasons and to the Infernal City's sequel but I'm not sure wheter they'll announce before or after the sequel. Anyone knows anything about that?

Well I don't think it is too off topic... though as speculation goes, this is about as thin a stretch as you can get, but here's for tying it to TESV:

So if we assume that Pete hold the trigger to the announcement and he is indeed waiting for some much needed relief in the marketing division (Softworks) then anything affecting the marketing department could either delay or accelerate an announcement. The addition of marketing resources could help, or the acquisition could take more energy away...

Like I said, total stretch but at least it makes it on topic!

My thoughts exactly! Maybe this new marketing division will relieve some of the work on marketing the published games, giving Pete a chance to focus on TESV marketing. But thats just a guess. :hehe:

It's a solid guess though, esp if they want to take over the European Market. Don't forget we have two more major conventions coming up soon, they've been releasing little snippets of information ever since E3, they are building up to something for sure. Don't forget that just a year ago they weren't even talking about it. Now they've admitted they are working on 2 games it's definitely something to consider. I would easily say Elder Scrolls V,

All I'm hoping for from the conventions coming up is just some more info, not exactly an announcement. So i'm not gonna have too many high hopes. haha

What conventions are coming up for Bethesda?

Today Bethesda opened a new office in Eindhoven ( The Netherlands ) and Jurgen Stirnweis of 2K is also coming to Bethesda as marketing manager. I dont know of any of this info is useful... And sorry for my bad English I'm just 14 so it isn't that good...

Hey, I'm 21 and my Dutch is atrocious. Actually I don't speak any...so.

I definitely think Bethesda could be setting up a European PR office, from what I hear western RPGs like Gothic and Two Worlds have been better received in Europe than in the US, so present more of a challene to TES which is normally top dog in America.

lol I wouldn't worry about TES doing well in Europe, I'm in the UK and oblivion sold very well. I expect the sequel to do better based on the number of people that bought the last one.

It's not uncommon for company's to accelerate the opening of offices before a busy period/major release.
ie instead of opening in 20blah the opening is brought forward in anticipation by 6 months to a year.
Rockstar have done it a few times in the games world and outside of the games world it's actually more common.

It doesn't mean that is the case, just it could be...........

While true, this doesn't deductively lead to TES:V. Keep in mind that Bethesda has recently expanded its publishing arm (with Brink, Hunted, Rage, FO:NV, etc.). I believe the extra load of publishing is the impetus behind the new office, not the announcement of TES:V.

An interesting piece of news. Could be them just protecting the name, as they have done in the past, or it could be them preparing for something bigger. Pre-Release mini-series?

They did the same for Fallout 3.

Don't expect anything out of it.

Movies take years to do. And news of movies always leek.

We already had a discusion of this and decided, that they are just protecting their interests. With the release of the Novel anything is possible it seems to Bethesda, even a chance at a movie.
