Official TES V Speculation Thread #67

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:15 am

I'm running through my brain trying to figure out what the next one could be. I mean, BioShock Infinite was a no-brainer, but now? I mean, there was the DmC thing that everyone disproportionately whined about, erm, maybe BioWare could announce Mass Effect 3 (that'd be cool). No real clue on my part, I've only been following this and Skyward Sword since Other M and Reach came out.

Someone said before that Duke Nukem Forever is a possibility for the next cover.

I disagree, once they announce their next game, I will finally be able to prepare for a new IP or ESV. Big news for me personally!

Hey guess what? Elder Scrolls V is in the making. Go ahead and prepare for it now.

Big news for me also. New game = New PC.
Announcement before Christmas, release late summer 2011.

Hey guess what? Elder Scrolls V is in the making. Go ahead and... buy new hardware I guess.

Like I said, the announcement is not a big deal. We all know they're making it. All they need is to show some stuff off and then give us a release date.

Someone should try messaging Jeremy Soule, ask him what he's working on.

I doubt it, GI online had a story while back that was really bashing the development process of that game. I'm thinking that the next cover could be TES V. They've mention Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls in a couple of recent articles, including a big article on Bethesda's secret project, and their latest online poll question is about what class you like to play in an RPG. I know the evidence isn't the slightest bit solid, but I enjoy grasping at straws. Plus, what else could the cover be?

No matter how sure we are, it will never feel as sure as having an actual announcement. I'm 100% sure they're working on TES V but I'm dying for an announcement.

Us not knowing what the cover will be does not in any way mean it must be TES V. It's very very very unlikely. I used to think otherwise, but now I can't imagine them announcing it before the hype for New Vegas dies down. I really think an October announcement, with the exception of super late in October, is out of the question.

Well they are a game news website, of course it's blown up with 3DS news. It's possible, but it seems odd that they would feature a game system.

Perhaps you should do it, just take note your going to have to be very polite and somewhat evasive to get anywhere. As someone who works for a start up corporation I can say from experience that everybody is using non-disclosure agreements and confidentiality statements these days to legally bind who they give information to. In other words, if he leaks any information he could be sued out the wazoo by Bethesda for damages to product. Though that is a good Idea, go for it man.

There is a big difference between knowing something and infering that it exists. The truth is, we don't have enough information to be 100 per cent sure it's coming. I'm not convinced it's coming until I see the announcement.

Well, two projects are coming. If one of them(or both) isn't Elder Scrolls, I am thinking this place will turn into :flamethrower: :flamethrower: :flamethrower: :flamethrower: :obliviongate: :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun: :gun:

PS. I am convinced, I am not 100% sure which is which.

Perhaps not to you. For many of us, we need to see an announcement in order to truly be at peace with it. Especially when it comes to buying a new PC. That's a big decision.

This may be a bit off-topic, but since TES V, assuming it will be the next Bethesda game, will run on the same consoles as Oblivion, why would you need to get a new computer? Shouldn't TES V also run on the same PC hardware as Oblivion? I'm just curious. I also want an announcement.

maybe the next game will be at the very beggining of E4, followed by book 2, followed by a game set in E4 250

Well, look at the specs of Metro 2033 compared to Oblivion. Both are on the Xbox 360, but Metro 2033 on the PC needs waaaay higher specs and looks muuuuch better than Oblivion does. New and better PC hardware comes out every year and developers can take advantage of that, while the consoles always stay the same. It's practically guaranteed that a computer that could only just barely run Oblivion could not run TES V, even though it will be out in the same exact console.

...I don't think so...

They said that the two books would bridge the gap between Oblivion and TES V so that means the second book will take place before TES V.

We also normally say "4E" instead of "E4" as in "Fourth Era" instead of "Era Four".

Even playing FO3 on my PC with ultra-high settings on is like looking at a whole new game than when I play it on PS3. There could be even greater differences like those we'll see with Crysis 2 in that regard.

Ya I'm pretty sure theyve never done a cover story on a just a system, though ive only been suscribing to it since 2008 so I might be wrong.

With the New ATI and Nvidia Cards rolling in supporting DX11 consider that TES V if infact it is as you stated will almost assuredly utilize all of that processing power they can muster. It's a bench mark game so it will blow everything away to date and then some. I think it will personally put the BioShock Infinity Demo and Rage to shame. Though that's just my 2 cents. When we first see it our jaws will drop and we will be picking them up the floor asking our selves if it is indeed just a game and not a photo or movie.

Realism aside it sounds(not confirmed) like they are nearly done or deep into development with the UI as I was chatting with socrates200X who expressed to me that his hope is that the UI for their next game would be warmly received. Nor did he hold a gun to my head while saying so...which means it's something to share! :foodndrink:

Who is socrates200X? This person works on the UI for Bethesda Game Studios?

Ah, it seems to be Ricardo Gonzales, cool. I wish we could get more of these kinds of tidbits.

Yup! He's a nice guy, if you message him he responds back. This is what he told me exactly,
"I, too, hope the UI is good and well-received, being the one writing and all. :P"

User Interface? Basically how all the menus and the HUD are set up, how they look, how the player accesses them, etc...

Yup, bingo. Antibody knows his stuff

To further help you out Nannersaur GUI is Graphical User Interface, it's pretty standard term now a days. Take an CS 101 course and they will embed it into your memory.

Judging by the positions available on their jobs page, I wouldn't say they are nearly done. Unless all that hiring is for the next next game, of course.

Well, I don't think we can judge their status based on what jobs they have available. They have a team of 90+ people, surely they have everyone they need already. Perhaps they're simply looking to expand their team. Plus, the jobs they were asking for are wide-ranging. I'm sure they have plenty of level designers, animators, quest designers, and so on, already.
