Official TES V Speculation Thread #67

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:09 pm

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112872-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-177/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. Any claims to having insider information will be removed. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

I would say werewolf's are better than sparkly vampires at least! Yeah, that would be cool if somebody could transcribe the pod casts. It would help us speculate probably.

Just a quick note, please don't post in the thread to remark on how there is nothing to discuss any more. If the thread no longer interests you it's fine if you don't post in it but if others want to discuss something please respect that. If this thread degrades in to a discussion on how there is nothing to discuss that's more than a little pointless - let's avoid that.

Yes, I really had a hard time understanding the pod cast so that would help

I will transcribe the first two podcast if it is okay with the moderators? IS IT OKAY MODERATORS??? (caps and color so they will notice)

Edit: Im just going to make notes for everyone ;)

EDIT 2:

Seriously people just listen. It has nothing to do with the Elder Scrolls directly anyways so I don't want to waste my time. I thought there would be a big discussion about their secret project but there is not. Todd says even less about it than he did at QC.

There is nothing of real interest in the podcast to speculate on - the purpose of this topic. Transcribing the whole cast is not necessary, but as you say, if you wish to post any comments you think are worth it - go ahead.

Good thing to bring up, Considering that the large amount of Bethesdas fanbase is now Mature, it seems likely. Look back and realize that when it was released a lot of us were just 14 or 15 years old and got it while it still had the teen rating. Now that were older, I my self being 21 it seems a natural progression for them to take on some mature themes. It seems natural too, most hardcoe gamers are now in there 30's and like any other hobby spend a lot of time and money on it.

Oh my Freaking GOSH. Most of TES fanbase is mature because you are? We got several new generations behind us, who want to get a taste of TES.
But whatever Oblivion was M-Rated anyways so what the heck. I, being 19 and out of my parents house, don't care what level gore is in.

I am 14 and to speak the truth, if the game is not M rated I will be disappointed. I don't want swearing or nudity per say but i want maturity and gore. Like Fallout 3 without the bad words. Mass Effect just about nailed it with the amount of explicit content. Nothing more than Mass Effect 1 or 2 is what I think BGS is going for or at least around that margin. mass Effect does not have many bad words but its a mature game, and its M rated.

if there is anything worth sharing in the upcoming podcasts I will be sure to help out by writing it word for word. I just saw no reason to write down something that has already been discussed. (im not arguing with you BTW, i know you saw my point)

Your missing my point entirely, if you ever look at NDB and market statics it all points in that direction, I'm completely aware that there is a large user base that isn't in the mature range, and I'm not saying that because I'm 21 the rest of the fanbase is. I'm pointing out that most game sales are now directed towards a mature audience. Chill man, no need to be brash. Do to that I'm speculating, that it will be M rated.

I chill, I chill. Most good games are Mature rated anyways. So, no big. I started TES when I was 13-14. If any of the games were to inapropriate, my parents would never let me play them.

I think Bethesda will try to get TES V rated M simply because I think they will want to avoid any possibility of having to deal with another Oblivion fiasco where it was T and was forced to be changed to M because of an unused nudity file. They likely wont have any files like that this time around but I think they might just want to avoid any chance of a mod changing the rating of their game again.

I'd be perfectly fine with TES:V getting an M rating slapped on it. Makes no difference to me, just means it can be a little more gritty and mature, which is good.

I would be fine with an M rating..Just as long as it is actually mature and not just a bunch of useless cursing and stuff, but than again has TES actually ever had cursing?

Yes. I know for a fact that Morrowind had cursing, through text of coarse. But a few times those words came up.
And I'm pretty sure words like "damn" and "hell" have come across in Oblivion at a few points. No F bombs in either though.

Oh, guess I never thought of those words specially hell as a curse word XD But ya, if they use those words in a good sense like there is a reason to say them than thats fine.

Didn't they change the rating of Oblivion from t to m because they found the topless textures that weren't supposed to be used? If that is the case and the only thing that makes Oblivion an M game is the boobs, I would be fine with TES5 being T. It doesn't make much of a difference to me, but if it means less hassle for Beth then T it up. I'm not sure what's going on with the M rate game legislation...

As long as it doesn't mean an excess of swearing or sixual themes, I'm good with a M rating for TESV. Grittier = better, for the most part.

I'm sure it will be rated M. The rule of thumb seems to be if a game has graphic violence against humans then it usually gets an M.

They looked at the game again after someone complained about the topless mod and they found more gore than they saw before they rated it "T". The corpses found in the Dark Brotherhood quests are why they changed the rating to "M".

Hey folks, this thread is about speculating when TES V will come out. Not for speculation of what the yet to be announced game will be rated if and when it does come out. We have a lot of posts already that are way off topic. How about you just not post until something to speculate comes up so you don't get this thread locked down yet again.

I don't mean to argue and I hope this does not come off this way but what do you mean by "locked down yet again" has this post been locked before?
I think that is a good idea about not posting though it is sooo tempting, specially thought since we have no new speculation to talk about there is really no need to even make a new Speculation forum as of yet anyhow

I'm suspecting that Bethesda might turn the search for information about TESV into a quest in itself, giving bits and pieces of info about the game in unrelated places before official announcement. If this thread/topic is closed, we might miss some of the info that someone has found.
