It's pretty pathetic when the most activity this thread receives is the result of a joke. Well done antibody...well done. B)

Well at least it answered my question:

Lord knows how many pointless posts a single word from a dev could cause us to make.

I think we can rule out a November announcement now as Game Informer's next cover will almost definitely be for a http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/10/12/valve-s-next-game-announced-here-tomorrow.aspx. Maybe they'll announce TES V in December, eh?

If it's Ep 3 i'll be ok with waiting for a TES:V announcement a bit longer, i've been waiting for that one for a long time, too. besides, i've been quite disinterested in the recent games on the GI covers...

-edit-

Nevermind, it's likely going to be the stand alone DotA game. Good god, i just can't get any good news lately.

Hmmm, I still have some hope since the announcement will be on their website (but I see what you mean, the chances are good they might just do a cover as well). The January cover was a more likely GI for TESV than December anyway, as it gives BGS time to announce it themselves.

I would think by now they have the announcement planned out. Or maybe they did before as well and todd was just lying about "we just have an estimate".

I had a dream last night that TES was announced mid november and released 8 months later.

Ill be going traveling 15 months from now so here hoping it comes out a few months before that or else I can't play it for like 2 years :<

I would say yes, the cover in January, which is for whatever reason the February issue. Especially if they announce it on the website a few days beforehand.

I don't know what the big deal is these days with game announcements. I've been playing the Quest for Glory games these past couple weeks, and they had funny advertisemants for their next games as easter eggs. Those were fun.

I love those games as well.

Called it... Valve's new game, and the next game likely to jump onto the GI cover (like antibody said), is indeed a new stand-alone DotA game...

Which is ok, I didn't really think an announcement would come until at least a full month after new vegas released

It's important to note that this was originally discovered from a trade mark that was filed for a dota type game back in august. Which means, that the well into developed skyrim could easily be nearing it's 2 year cycle. They filed it 4 years ago, so they could have had a 2 year pre production cycle easily in place on it. They are most likely done with it I would imagine or near done. This is pretty good proof that following game trade marks has merit.

Hey guys. I'm curious. Do devs ever post here?

Hey guys.

Here's my conspiracy theory: Nitronick389 and Nick Breckon are the same people... And "Hey guys" is really an encrypted message for the fans... Or a previous post of nitronick389 may include a message?? :ninja:

So who has told you that they are going to announce it through Game Informer? Just because the three latest games have been announced on GI doesn't mean they are going to stick with that. For all we know they could announce it tomorrow.

Lord knows how many pointless posts a single word from a dev could cause us to make. For example:

Dev Joe: Hey guys.
Post #1: OMG TESV IS CALLED HEY GUYS
Post #2: TESV DEV JOE PLZ TELL US SOMETHIN BOUT IT

And so on.

Hey guys.

Having fun stirring the beehive, Mr. Breckon? :-)

They won't announce it through GI. What they'll (probably?) do is announce it on their website and follow it up with a GI cover story.

And who told you they've ever announced it through Game Informer? Because they haven't. Ever. They always announce it online first, and then at some point afterward they reveal the Game Informer cover. Oblivion had a Game Informer cover around the time of it's unveiling, and Fallout 3 had a Game Informer cover around the time of it's unveiling, so it's perfectly logical to assume TES V will as well. They can announce TES V whenever they please, but the cover of a certain month not being TES V can pretty much tell us that an announcement wont be coming until the end of the month or the beginning of the next month.

Even the idea that we might be like 1-2 months away from an announcement for TESV is simply orgismic.

I think possible urination will happen the instant I hear any news about it.

I think we are definitely 1-2 months away from announcement. The "Hey guys" comment just seems evil and unnecessary if a TESV game is a long time away, so my guess is that its not.

Still stand by my january announcement theory. Has a game ever been in full production for 2 years and not been announced? Is this a first?

The Valve game is Dota 2. Its just a feature article at this point. Not a cover story. It might not get a cover. GI usually does far-reaching, popular games as their covers. And maybe I've just been living under a rock or something, but I've never heard of Dota before. After reading the article on the game, I found out Dota is a PC only real time strategy game. That just doesn't seem like a GI cover worthy game to me. Also the article has a lot of negative comments from a lot of people, including some angry Half-Life fans. I doubt Dota 2 will get a GI cover, but that's just me...
