Official TES V Speculation Thread #70

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 10:08 am

We all know that Bethesda is saying it's an MMO with rumors to piss fans off so when they announce it as single player us fans buy multiple copies haha.

Speaking of with, don't we all remember what the ending of oblivion said?

OF COURSE THERE'S GOING TO BE A 5th ONE...there basically confirming it with this last saying.

All my specualtion from months ago is still valid.

- Its not going ot be an MMO.....they have a ZeniMax online for that...so ZeniMax looking for MMO designers means nothing to TES5.
- An annoncement will come during a lull in marketing, aka, after a game is released (this may mean New Vegas, but could also be Brink, Rage, Hunted etc) depending on what resources in marketing get freed up.

Any "My friend who knows someone at gamesas" are just rumor starters....we had one before E3 too that said "Bethesda are planning an ES annoncement at E3".....not saying this one is a lie, it just most likely is because of the part experiences here.

EDIT: Also the time to annoncement wont effect the release date if Todd is telling the truth, the longer the annoncement wait the shorter time between it and the release.

Sorry igloo but as you may know, the internet is full of douchebags and such that make crap like that up. Now i'm not calling you a [censored], i'm just saying that your story is hard to believe given the sheer number of people that make stuff up to get attention and cause a stir. Your story however, was mediocre compared to the epic tale told by someone called amanda. Come on... vegas poker table.... dude sits down... wins money then tells her ESV is going to be announced.

CONCLUSION: There's probably more truth in Antibodys story than the others :P

I had a dream in which Uriel Septim the XXIV told me that I'll be the saviour of the universe. Then he said: "TES V will be announced on Monday the 25th lolololol" he then crapped out bricks and he flew away into the void.

But seriously... That DID happen :I

Why would they wait until after Brink to announce Elders Scrolls V. Brink is going to be terrible. If I was Bethesda I would make the announcement in either January or February.

Also enough about the MMO talk any of that can be done in the other thread.

Brink is an entirely different genre to TES so there would be no point announcing it after brink as it isn't going to take away from Brink sales in fact they could use one to promote the other in interviews and so on.

Yes, but it depends how many people are needed for the Brink release from Bethesda Softworks, if there arent the people to start the marketing and promotion on another game then it cant be annonced......simple as that. Thats the problem at the moment Bethesda Softworks are too busy to take on the marketing for TES5......as soon as they have the resources they'll let BGS know and the TES5 annoncement will happen.

Although the release of Fallout: New Vegas was a good enough reason for delaying the announcement of TESV I can't really see Bethesda Softworks prioritizing the marketing campaign for Brink or any other game they are expected to publish over the one for TESV.

You are correct, especially considering the remaining three release dates:

1/25/2011 Brink Release
Q1 2011 Hunted Demons Forge
9/13/2011 Rage

Rage will be huge I am sure, and there will likely be a ton of resources devoted to it's release at least a couple of months in advance.

The same would be true for TESV (although markedly larger in scope and requiring more resources); I could see the two months after Rage being the blitz for TESV where they have all of their resources recouped and from 9/13-11/?? a very full throttle marketing campaign could be enacted with all of Softworks dedicated to it.

Just on that assumption puts the release in Holiday 2011 range.

MMO misinformation is everywhere. A couple of weeks ago I was at gamestop getting red dead redemption (I know I'm late to the party), and I mentioned to the guy behind the counter that TES5 was the next game I was looking forward to and he says, "Oh, the next elderscrolls will me an MMO." And I'm thinking no, just, no. I didn't feel like going over the difference between bethesda game studios and zenimax online, so I let it drop. I think all these MMO rumors are coming from one gamestop employee in Phoenix AZ.

Bethesda has confirmed that Todd's team isn't working on an MMO and as others have pointed Bethesda has a sister studio, Zenimax Online Studios, that specializes in such things. It's possible that ZOS is working on an Elder Scrolls MMORPG but it's not Bethesda's project so it shouldn't be discussed here. You're welcome to pick this up in the official multiplayer thread.

So as I am new to the elder scrolls series, perhaps you all can shed some light on possible plotlines and where this series is going in TES V. I got so wrapped up in oblivion that I couldn't believe a game could be like that. The music, the characters, the numerous quests, it just amazed me. It is almost like tv shows from back in the day, they just don't make them like they used to, but in my opinion, Bethseda just blows me away (and others) with this game. I'm interested in hearing your opinions and ideas since you are all more knowledgeable than I am!

Well, there's at least something we can say for sure:
We will DEFINITELY hear something after New Vegas is released.

How long after? I don't know. What am I, a wizard?

It'd be funny if BGS would announce it tomorrow. I'd "lol".

I'm same person as 1 oblivion, just a different username (hope it didn't offend anyone). Anyways, I have a friend who works in the video game industry and he just informed me that he does know some people at Bethesda Softworks. I asked him if he knew or could find any information about this little discussion we are having and he said he would check around today and get back to me! I won't mention companies or names so that nobody gets in trouble, but it is looking promising! Hopefully we can get some answers (LEGIT) today!

I remember when Fallout was coming about and I made some comment down in Community Discussion to Donner(?) something to the effect of "ya right, and you're going to open the Fallout Forum today." Lo and behold, it was open a few hours later

So you're speculating that you might be able to speculate? ;)

I wonder how stringent those NDA's are...

Well, one might think that, if TES V was getting close to being announced, that the NDA would not disappear immedietely, but instead become lessened. Devs might intentionally tell something or let something "slip" to get the hype train rolling.

Intentional leaking of information is pretty much a classic method of hyping things.

Ah well played sir, speculating that I can speculate :) I think that if we get legit information, in this case it would be if he knows something, that it comes down to us doing our part and not even giving descriptions of those employees i.e. the asian guy at the poker table. Last thing we'd want is to get someone sued or fired over helping us pee ourselves with every tidbit of information we get on this game!

I wasn't aware Brink had a concrete release date aside from Spring 2011?

Either way, I'm positive that none of Bethesda's remaining published games will get in the way of the TES V announcement. It's not even worth thinking about it. Bethesda will figure out a way to best hype up all of their games, including TES V, at the same time, and release them so they don't interfere with each other.

Lets stop posting these kinds of stories guys. Look, you could be good friend's with Todd Howard's wife for all we know but unless you can provide is evidence of that, telling us a story is pointless because we have no way of knowing if you are telling the truth or not. Your friend may very well know people in the industry and may very well be able to convince them to break their NDAs and tell you what they're working on, but unless you can give us solid proof there's no way we can believe you.

So aside from playing the waiting game with this, humor me guys and give input or information on what the plot would be and all that good stuff. As I said earlier, I have never played TES before except Oblivion on the 360 and hence I am hooked. Give me something to mull over at work today :foodndrink:

This is the sort of thing that made everybody think that Modern Warfare 2 had an Alien zombie terrorist game mode.
