Official TES V Speculation Thread #70

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:11 am

It's been a while since i've posted here but its okay I have some AMAZING NEWS. :celebrate: :celebrate:

For the past 2 weeks i've been in Las Vegas promoting my very first cook book. I know its a strange venue for something so passive because its about baking too. Its a long and boring story about someone who subscribes to my blog owning a advertising firm yadayadayada. Anyways, I just got home about 30 minutes ago, and ran to the computer to tell you what happened to me last nightish.

I was at a casino (Treasure Island), at a blackjack table (my husband went to get drinks) when an oriental man sat down next to me. I was patiently waiting for my husband when the man struck up a conversation with me. I told him who I was and the like and my husband came back and he sorta backed off. He proceeded to play blackjack until some more of his friends had arrived. They were not watching him but instead just cheering him on. He won 400$ while I was sitting there myself. Then, the amazing part...one of them said " Hurry up man were going to miss half of our own fallout new vegas party."

I nearly choked on my drink. What the heck is Bethesda doing in Vegas?!?!! :shocking: Shouldn't they be making that game still!? These were the thoughts going through my head.I asked them how they knew about Fallout New Vegas and they told me who they were and that they're publishing the game. (Which I didn't know) They explained to me what publishing means which lead me to ask.

"Well what are you making now?"

The oriental man turned to me and said "You know what? Im in a really good mood. I'm up 350$ im in Vegas and I'm just feeling great. What we're making now is in launch cue. As soon as Fallout New Vegas Hits the shelf we'll let you know all about the elderscrolls... I mean our next project"

After he blurted out the elderscrolls one of the guys with him gave him a dirty look while some of the others were a little shocked and began to laugh. I had a plane to catch so my husband and I made small talk and then it was back on a plane to Kincardine.

Its going to be really hard for people to believe me I undestand. Maybe when the Bethesda boys get back from Vegas (I think one of them said they just arrived) they can vouche for me. At the same time though them vouching for me is like me asking them to tell me and all of us that the elderscrolls is their next project.

Also i'm kind of second guessing if he deliberately said that now because some of them said they're having a party for Kim Kardashian tonight. Why would Bethesda be having a party for Kim Kardashian. They could've been really drunk. Im not sure

Anyways i hope this has brightened your days as it made my plane ride so much more enjoyable. I'm scared of planes too.

-manda :)

As much as i want to belive that, if somebody did say that to you, i have a strong feeling they may of been telling you porkys

I laughed pretty hard when I saw Kim Kardashian standing behind Fallout + Bethesda logos. Shes turning the big 30 and Bethesda's celebrating it?

Kinda awkward....not gonna lie. :P

As for the rest of your post..I'm gonna remain skeptical.

Amanda, I really hope what you say is true. I will, however, remain skeptical until there is more proof. I'm not saying that you're lying, but maybe you just heard what you wanted to. Or maybe you're just lying. At any rate we will hopefully find out soon, so fingers crossed! ^_^

That's pretty sweet. At least now we know for sure that the next game's gonna be ES. I just wish we knew when it's gonna come out :brokencomputer:

By the way, what does "launch cue" mean?

I'm apt to believe Amanda. She seems to be pretty sincere about it (even second guessing herself). The proof about New Vegas and Kardashian is right in that article that Mikedzines just posted, so, yeah, they ARE part of her party, as odd as that sounds.

The oriental man could have made a slip of the tongue, or done that on purpose just to mess with you. Bethesda folks do have a silly sense of humor.

Whoa whoa whoa, didn't you hear that what happens in Vegas is supposed to stay in Vegas :stare:

By the way, what does "launch cue" mean?

It pretty much means that everything is ready for it, and all that's left is just a "push of a button".

Well I'm glad you understand it's hard for people to believe you. I mean I want to believe you, but you have no proof. You could give us proof, however. If you can take a picture of your boarding pass from Vegas to Kincardine, and in Paint block out all the personal information on it, then it'll be much easier to believe you. I say from Vegas because that'll be a more recent date. What's more, if you have any sort of receipt from Treasure Island to show us, then we really wont have much to question about your story. The only possibility that would remain would be whether or not you decoded to make this all up while also being in exactly the right location for this to happen, when seems hard to believe.

Show us that proof and it'll be much easier to believe you, but until then I'm sorry to say I have to remain skeptical.

Well that's good news, but it can't be completely ready to go. If it was then we'd get it very shortly after an announcement... and I know that's what Todd hinted at, but it's just not Bethesda's style. They like to make us wait at least a year after announcing a title.

Besides, I need all the time I can get to save up for a gaming PC to run it!

And what's up for grabs? Nothing less than a trip for two to the Fallout: New Vegas launch party on October 16 that takes place at the Palms Hotel and Casino in lovely Las Vegas, two nights hotel accommodations, $300 in cash, a copy of the Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition and - I wasn't kidding about this - an invitation to Kim Kardashian's 30th birthday party at the Tao Nightclub!

Today is October 16th.
Ladies and gentlemen, I think this is all the confirmation we need.

Not really. If I wanted to I could pretend I knew nothing about that sweepstakes too, and pretend that I was confused about why they were having a party for Kim Kardashian. It's not a hard thing to do.

Not saying Amanda did that but we have no real proof she didn't yet.

The time just seems ripe for an announcement. If she had said this happened to her last year, I probably wouldn't have believed her. But this coupled with everything else is just uncanny.

I'm going to say we get some type of announcement shortly after New Vegas is released (October 19th in the states, 22nd in Europe). Whether that be for the December issue of GameInformer (released in early November, which lines up with everything else), I can't say. But damnit, I'm gonna get my hopes up!

EDIT: On top of all that, I'm also going to say Amanda is a fake account and she's being controlled by a Bethesda employee. Three active posts? Please. You'll have to give us better credit than that, Gstaff.

EDIT EDIT: When everything is revealed in a few weeks, remember who figured it all out. I'mm assuming I'll get some sort of signed copy of TESV.

The launch party thing just sort of confirms that she was indeed talking to employees from the company that's publishing the next ES game.

Bethesda Game Studios does not make MMOs. They've stated this numerous times.
Zenimax Online, however, is currently working on an MMO. What that MMO is, though, has yet to be announced.
It's important to note that Bethesda Game Studios and Zenimax Online are two separate entities owned by the same parent company.

At Amanda: I have to ask... if you were in Las Vegas the past two weeks promoting your book, why does your Twitter account say that you've been in Ottawa since October 11th, visiting your parents and preparing for a wedding (of which you are a bridesmaid for)?

Does this count as detective work or cyber-stalking?

Erm... I and the other regulars in this thread have been pretty sure that they would announce it soon after New Vegas was released, so I don't know why you're getting excited only now, after reading a story that for all we know could be fake. If TES V is announced shortly after New Vegas is released, it will only serve to make Amanda's story more likely, but it wont confirm it.

I'm just a skeptic, what can I say.

It was carefully placed sarcasm. See above in bold.

Though I am pretty sure we're gonna get an announcement after the release of NV.

Actually, I think Amanda is an account being controlled by not a Bethesda employee but a tricky speculation poster who really would like to see some activity in this thread... I am not going to call him out but it isn't hard to put the pieces together if you just look around enough...

Well, the Twitter account (not going to post the link; anyone whose interested can easily find it themselves) is at least genuine. Now, whether said poster simply linked that account to this forum profile just for giggles is still up in the air. If our Amanda is Twitter's Amanda, I'd say she invented that tale because she's desperate for attention. If our Amanda is completely unrelated to the Twitter Amanda, I'd say you've got the right idea.

I still don't get what this confirms. It doesn't mean anything.

Exactly. *hand-wave*

It's entirely possible, and entirely not possible that it could be Bethesda getting us hyped up for an announcement. Working in a company I can tell you that nothing is unplanned...product placement, announcements, rumors are all started internally and spread outwards from a single and multiple source to minimize the possibility of it being traced back to the source. It could very well be an employee slipping the tongue to create some excitement. Of course we are going to remain skeptical to the rumor because there is no origin to it so it just creates hype, though when your dealing with NDA's that can basically allow the company to sue you for damages nothing is said without permission, or very rarely. Let's face it, Elder Scrolls V is the worst kept gaming secret in history next to Star Craft II. Everybody knows it's coming, as I said before Bethesda Softworks knows it, everyone on these forums knows it, and all the press knows it as well. Rumors could theoretically be part of the marketing budget. I know that a lot of companies start dropping rumors at the competition months before they even open up to create a sense of tension. I'm not going into details but it's true...everything and I mean everything is timed. True, they can't control the wrong rumor a fan puts out but they can add some weight to it by dropping an official/semiofficial feel to it if they think it can hype the game up even more.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to think that someone made an account in May, assumed the identity of a blogger, linked to their blog in their profile, made a random post in May, made a random post in July linking to Mikedzines' twitter, and posted that story today. If it is being controlled by anyone, the only person who would make sense is Mikedzines, but if that's true, then he is disturbingly dedicated to speculation here, going as far as stealing someone's identity to do so.

If our Amanda is completely unrelated to the Twitter Amanda, I'd say you've got the right idea.

They are completely unrelated...

Why don't you ask on Twitter about Amanda's recent post on Bethesda's Forums and you might just get a perplexed response :)
