Official TES V Speculation Thread #70

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:46 am

I think it's a bit of a stretch to think that someone made an account in May, assumed the identity of a blogger, linked to their blog in their profile, made a random post in May, made a random post in July linking to Mikedzines' twitter, and posted that story today. If it is being controlled by anyone, the only person who would make sense is Mikedzines, but if that's true, then he is disturbingly dedicated to speculation here, going as far as stealing someone's identity to do so.

Unless of course Mikedzines is really a bethesda employee lol.

Thank you for the post, Amanda. Unfortunately, the game will be announced by the time we sort out whether we believe you. :P Your story certainly fits within the realm of expected possibility, so I am hopeful it really happened and the guy was telling the truth.

I'm inclined to believe Amanda, it's a stretch but her post is pretty well thought out, secondly she does add a certain weight by bringing her husband into to the mix.

Well that's good news, but it can't be completely ready to go. If it was then we'd get it very shortly after an announcement... and I know that's what Todd hinted at, but it's just not Bethesda's style. They like to make us wait at least a year after announcing a title.

Besides, I need all the time I can get to save up for a gaming PC to run it!

Well I didn't think he meant the game itself is ready to go. Just that all of the preparations for the announcement are ready.

I would imagine there running it through quality assurance testing right now, and perhaps closed family testing. My friend knows a guy who is an official tester and he would get the games a while before there release.

Ultimately, Stain hit the nail on the head, that whether or not "Amanda"'s story is true or not, our best guess is that TESV is next up to be announced and will be sometime after the release of FONV. It doesn't much matter if "Amanda" was there or not. I can only assume that "Amanda" thought adding in an "oriental" (which by the way is a little bit racially insensitive) man (i.e. Ashley Cheung) to the mix would also help add credibility. All in all, you are right, it is pretty well thought out, in a constructed and fictional text sort of way, but at least something to think about and talk about, so kudos at least for introducing the interesting fantasy of it all.

These threads are better than TV. I'm going to believe "Amanda", simply because it makes me excited :D Hopefully I won't be disappointed later..

How long do you guys think the time-span will be between the FO:NV release and the TESV announcement? Assuming they're tied.

I seriously think that we will see something in November and then the GI issue that comes out in December (that being the January issue) will feature it on the cover.

I tend to be overly optimistic at each and every turn no matter how hard I try, so we are more likely looking at something coming after the first of the year, like in January, with the February (March) cover being TESV.

So that's my thought.

You're profile pic looks so familiar... hmmm where have I seen that before... I think it was moving last time I saw it, and more close up, like it had been photo-shopped or something... strange.

I'm not as dedicated as YOU or Stain or StlytStryder. I looked at her previous post about stumbling across my Twitter page...Didn't Game Informer fall for the same thing? Didn't we have an incident in the last thread (not even a week ago) about someone stumbling across my twitter page?

Like I said previously,I'm still totally skeptical...The only way i'm gonna believe her is if she shows me a picture of her shaking hands with this asian developer in a casino.

EDIT: Like someone posted, according to her twitter page which you can find in her previous posts, it sounds like shes been home this whole time.
Her story is a sham.

Regardless of her story being true or false the signs are there that Bethesda is working on something big. Bethesda has to be making Elder Scrolls V why wouldn't they be. The reason they wouldn't announce Elders Scrolls V this very minute is if they did announce Elder Scrolls V it would probably cut into the Fallout New Vegas hype and drop sales for the game.

Sorry it is not the best selling, and wont ever be.
Fallout sells are as big or better than oblivion.

Last year in an interview inquired about TES V, Todd stated more or less:
"Yes, we dont discard a sequel for TES series, big sucess with public, but now we have other priorities". Note the "don t discard", and the "other priorities".
Refresh me, what was the time between morrowind and Oblivion ? And what is the time between Fallout 3 and... Vegas ?
Sorry to burst your bubble but THE prime product now is fallout. TES is second. The company is simply seeing more potential in the Fallout franchise than the TES franchise. Hence
Silly put: BANG BANG attract more people than CLANG CLANG. And business is business.

Hence my words:
Bethesda will develop TES V when they tire or people tire of fallout. So don t expect anything before 2012.

We will see TES 5, but nowhere soon. And i really hope its better than Oblivion. Combat aside, Oblivion was a step back in design.

I'm calling BS on this. Oblivion only sold about a million or so less copies than Fallout and that's considering Fallout sold about 6-7. Oblivion sold less because BGS wasn't as respected as they became after the launch of Oblivion. The success of Oblivion was the deciding factor in FO3's sales. It wasn't the franchise base as NMA's lackeys usually didn't purchase FO3 and they were the Fallout fanbase pre-FO3. No, BGS is not extremely driven by money so they will do what they want to next. And I doubt it's going to be FO4.

I agree with everything you said except the whole "BGS is not driven by money" because they aren't a non-profit, and they are most certainly in the business of, well frankly, being a business :)

:P I'll agree with that. What I really meant was compared to a company like Activision or EA, Bethesda is one of the least financially-driven companies. If they were, we would get a new TES every year a la CoD or AC.

True, but you've got to admit that a developer that takes years to make games to make sure they're as good as they're going to get isn't as money hungry as some other developers out there. If Bethesda was, by now we'd have seen 4 more TES Adventure games that all lasted 12 hours long each, which, disturbingly enough, is twice as long as the single player of your average Call of Duty.

Has anybody ever tried to pm any of the Admins and ask them nicely what Bethesda Game Studios is currently working on.

Me: Oh hey Nick, I had a question, would you mind telling me what you guys are working on? Pretty please? I promise I wont tell anyone you broke your NDA.

Nick Breckon: Well Antibody since you asked so nicely, sure, why not, I've been looking to get fired anyway. We're currently working on IHRA Drag Racing Talking Horses, which, as you know, will be the best game of the century. Hell, you know what, since I told you, I might as well just quit before anyone else finds out. I'm going to go tell Todd what I did, bye!

Well... Amanda's twitter says she was in Cornwall yesterday, wherever that is. She said in her post that last night she got that information in Las Vegas... I've searched and there's no Cornwall around Las Vegas, but there is one in mid-California I believe. I also searched her twitter, and there is no mention of Las Vegas anywhere... I think she's bluffing.

Only Cornwall I know is in England. I don't believe a word of it, I've become jaded after so much false hope.

Also, if it really is announced on Monday the 25th, I may or may not crap my pants.

I cannot verify any of the Twitter evidence, but it does seem suspicious that one would not indicate on her account what ought to have been a pretty exciting time (she was promoting her new cookbook after all). That puts a little snag in the story's credibility. I'm with Antibody now, and would at least like to see some boarding passes or some other confirmation...but even that would still be a million miles away from definitive proof.

I'm inclined to believe that Amanda isn't really Amanda, but someone just took a random person's twitter (Amanda's) and acted as if they were actually Amanda here. I think I'm going to tweet to the REAL Amanda and ask her if she has any relation to this forum. :P

Anyway... I'm pretty disappointed. My hopes were crushed.
