Official TES V Speculation Thread #71

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:37 pm

Except Todd Howard said that they wont be using id Tech 5 for their games. That could change in the future though, I suppose, but they'd have to figure out how to make it so that they can create their trademark open worlds on an engine that currently, according to Todd, isn't good at that.

Wait until the next console generation for being able to go wild with graphics/engine capabilities in an open world setting? By that I don't mean postpone TES V until then. I'm just saying they could go for that kind of stuff in future, non TES V games starting with the next console generation's release, but in the meantime, they shouldn't take any of those consoles into consideration with their current project.

I was always under the impression that the only games shown at the Spike TV VG awards were pointless, two hour long shooters with lots of blood and swearing. And sports games.

The only shooter they showed last year was Halo: Reach

Yep...

except for:

Medal of Honor
Crackdown 2
Spec Ops: The Line
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2
True Crime: Hong Kong

There's no denying a fantasy RPG would seem out of place at the VGA awards, but this is The Elder Scrolls, which appeals to a wide range of people, even those who wouldn't normally play fantasy games. Plus Bethesda could easily come up with an action-packed trailer to show there.

Hurm... I didn't remember Medal of Honor or Spec Ops. I thought they were revealed at another event. Also, The Force Unleashed isn't a shooter and it's debatable whether Crackdown is a shooter.

Anyway, I was just listening to my favorite video game podcast, the Giant Bombcast, and they were talking about Fallout: New Vegas which turned into a "What the hell is Bethesda working on?" discussion which then devolved into a Morrowind vs Oblivion debate. Heh. Reminded me of this forum.

Hmph, i think when TESV comes out im gonna stay away from forums til ive played it a while. Just had a look in the new vegas forum and almost the entire page is just people moaning about it.

That's pretty typical of a release and it makes sense: if you're having problems you'll come to the official forums to either get help or complain.

And if you're enjoying the game you're not going to hang out on the forums :)

Foreman: "It has been on dispaly in your local office for the past few months, Mr Dent"

Arthur: "ON DISPLAY? I eventually had to go down to the cellar"

Foreman: "Yes thats out display department"

Arthur: "With a torche!"

Foreman: "The lights had probbaly gone"

Arthur: "So had the stairs"

Foreman: "But it was on display Mr Dent"

Arthur: "It was on display at the bottom of a locked fileing cabnet, in a disused lavaratory, with a sign on the door side saying "Beware of the lepard".. Have you ever thought of going into advertising?"

Well, all I can say for sure is that it will be even more streamlined then Oblivion, for the casuals of course , you will be able to finish it at lvl1 all the same, lvling wont matter all the same, you'll be able to magically materialize anywhere like you're effin harry potter.

In short, just as oblivion, real gamers will have to wait for hundreds of mods to fix all bs on it before playing, all the same.

Actually, I remember them saying somewhere they wanted to completely redo the leveling system, as in take it away completely and make it entirely free form based on what you use for there next game.

I'm guessing Video Game Awards might be a good place for reveal.

Right everyone,

This is going to sound incredibly ridiculous and I'm doubting it myself. This really happened but whether or not the guy is telling the truth or not is up for speculation.

My cousin who lives in England is a TES fanatic (got me into it back in the day when we were teenagers), I was talking with him on msn about 5 min ago and he told me that one of his old college friends works for Bethesda (he does something to do with portfolios?) and he mentioned that his mate told him that everyone he works with is sure that TESV will be coming out mid November next year.

Do what you want with this information. The only thing I know for sure is that my cousins friend does in fact work somewhere in Bethesda (nothing to do with the actual games) and that my cousin was told this. Whether or not his friend is completely lying is up in the air.

Who knows.

I do believe you, but this is another case of an "inside source" stating the obvious. Holiday season 2011 has been the most likely release date for a while now.

I just wish one of their "sources" would say "it's using DX11" or "it'll take place in Skyrim AND Summerset Isle!". Something useful, rather than restating the obvious facts. No offense to the guy that just posted, I'm glad you did! Just sayin...

Hang on.... my phone just rang it was Todd Howard... HUGE NEWS!!!!

He said ESV will be announced and released sometime in the next 3 years!!!!!

HAY GUISE ESV WILL TAKE PLACE ON TAMRIEL!

ammi doin it rite?

Seriously though, I never take too much stock in "friend of a friend" announcements. It's like "Hey, my cousin went to school with a friend who knew Michael Jackson!"

So what, I'm not that friend, you're not that friend, and there's no such thing as a second-hand entorage, let alone a THIRD HAND entorage.

If ESV isn't the December or January cover, it'd be pretty cool for ESV to be revealed at the VGA awards, as unlikely as it may be, but who knows... Bethesda may certainly change things up.

Because that would tell us something about the game. Obviously it's going to be announced after NV comes out (could be today, could be 6 months from now, it's all after NV comes out), and the obvious release date has always been Holiday season 2011.

If we knew something about the game that we DIDN'T already know, that would be useful. If we had a confirmed source tell us what new features will be added, etc., that would actually be useful.

Thought I'd post it here anyway.

When exactly are the video game awards? Couldn't find the date (yes, I did google it) so I figured I might as well do it the easy way: let someone else do it. :disguise:
