Official TES V Speculation Thread #71

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:10 am

I think december is the most likely month for announcement. there gonna want to have New Vegas have some spotlight and made a few sales before they announce TES:V. Perhaps the January GI cover will be TES:V, with the cover being unveiled in december, is that how GI works?

Yeah i'm kind of with you on this one, but more with a November or January over December. But i've said it since Todd said they were ready to announce it would be at the latest February so not too much longer hopefully. Let us pray that it is TESV and not something else, but i dont think any of us are thinking much about that right now lol.

Some good points. You are correct with the English voice acting, it is sometimes so bad that I think the developers were having a bit of a laugh........... Despite the shortcomings you point out, I am still enjoying it though, and I only paid 17 English pounds for it (I wouldn't have bought it if it were the usual £40).It will never be better than an ES game, but I'm sure we are all looking for something to bridge the gap until ESV comes along.......
Two Worlds II anyone?

There is nothing wrong with supporting the forum rules. If there isn't a mod to say it why not say it yourself?

Thank you guys for helping to keep this thread tidy.

I'm glad to see that the recent firestorm has subsided. The flurry of "personal accounts" has certainly done well to bolster hope, but their unprovable nature is problematic to concluding anything substantial.

Heh, I needed to read 5 times through that before I understood what it said. Rich English FTW :celebration:

But back on topic, whoever said that they're predicting a January announcement, I agree with you. I'm actually sure. You see, I met Antibodys cat in a local KFCs the other day, and he said...

It is interesting to note that Bethesda seems to have high release years and low release years though Pete Hines said now they want to do 3 to 4 releases in a single year, so that comes down to the simple fact that they didn't release everything they wanted to this year and are technically short a title.

Well if they want 3-4 a year and they do announce TESV by and or in January (assuming thats what they're working on) it's probable that it will be release 2011. Which is what i think anyways. By holiday season 2011.

QUESTION: How many of a publisher's resources are put into PR before a release as opposed to after a release? A lot of people are saying that the Beth's PR department is too busy with FO:NV to deal with TES V right away. I think that might not be true if there's enough momentum from everything they've done pre-release (e.g. commercials, interviews, cover stories). Maybe at this point they just have to make sure that the FO:NV ball keeps rolling downhill, making their job pretty easy on that front.

I'm gonna guess and say that I think they have plenty of resources to do both PR for Vegas and possibly promote Elders Scrolls V

Post release includes (but is not limited to) media events, DLC, review coordination and publication, and the all important GOTY. Compared to the pre-release endeavors this is minor. Pending any scandals this is usually the bulk of a publishers duties post launch, however there have been instances in the past where a publisher had to deal with media coverage of cracked code (hot coffee anyone?), but to publish a game with pre-release media events like E3, PAX, GDC, etc. is where the thousands of man hours and untold fortunes are spent.

They already got the DLC out of the way, Pete Hines said on IGN this morning that the XBOX is getting it for the holidays first. I've seen one review on it and the guy gave it a meh, I don't know how he got the info for the review in.

I would say i it was a game tester, simply because some official game testers recieve DLC before that particular DLC is announced, this is so they can have people backing it up from day one.
or it could be just some troll trying to stir [censored].

For media events such as E3, Bethesda will most likely use a third party promotion company to man booths and hand out fliers and such, so none of their "in-house" resources would be used. My husband recently worked for EA as a promoter during an event for a third party company. You're probably right though; I'm sure it's quite expensive to hire an outside company for promotions.

In complete seriousness. Ive read some of the reviews on fallout new vegas and yes, it is a decent game BUT Bethesda are still making games off th OLD ENGINE!!!

I will be extremely annoyed if Bethesda doesnt use a NEW engine for ESV. If they let us down after all these years of waiting....... ill go MENTAL!

Bethesda didn't make New Vegas.

Bethesda has already indicated that they've revamped the engine in preparation for the next game they are working on.

i recently got my girlfriend to play oblivion!! and she loves it. i know right yay!! so i speculate, that WHEN TESV is released, she will also play it. which may or may not be a great thing. but either way now i wont get yelled at for playing to much, and not paying attention to her. instead ill get yelled at for not letting her play, lol. i wonder if i can get her excited about the game though. i mean as excited as i am. i will surely show her the first videos. which will excite me for sure. hmm maybe when TESV is revealed, i will start saving for another tv, 360, and 2 copies of the sure to be greatest game ever. :)

As for that Escapist article, wow, they could not be more far off the mark. I wonder whether the write of that article even realizes there is literally zero proof for Fallout 4 being made. Someone here should seriously email him and ask how he came to that conclusion considering said lack of evidence.

or...maybe our presumed TESV SKYRIM...is really Fallout 4 SKYRIM...and we've been wrong this whole time. now i know this is not the case. but maybe the writer of that article. doesnt read these forums, or is a huge fallout really devoted fan and just wants to stir the soup...i mean pot..err stuff.

I hate that my most favorite series have disappeared off the face of the planet; TES, Black and White, and Half Life.

But hey, if Duke Nukem forever is finally coming true, I'm sure TES will be back in another 15 years or so.

THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR DISCUSSING A POTENTIAL ELDER SCROLLS MMORPG

If you wish to discuss the possibility that Zenimax Online Studios is working on an Elder Scrolls MMORPG that's fine but you need to keep it to the official Elder Scrolls Multiplayer thread. We have gotten confirmation that Todd's team isn't working on an MMO and it wouldn't even make sense for BGS to work on an MMO when they have a sister studio specifically devoted to developing MMOs.

This thread is for discussing a potential Elder Scrolls game developed by BGS. Some cursory mention of an Elder Scrolls MMORPG developed by ZOS is OK but please don't push it and please don't make it the center of the discussion.

It hasn't disappeared, its just sleeping...under a lot of sheets...which are invisible...and has been buried underground...deeply...and put in a safe...with a really hard lock on it...and a do not open sign. Anyways, at least TES's community will never die, the beauty of this community cannot even be described.

Dang, ninj'd by Hungry Donner. That's got to be like a special kind of ninja'd right? :toughninja:

Greetings! Long time lurker first time poster here.
Just want to throw in my speculation that 25/10/10 is too early for Bethesda to announce ES V. Fallout although developed by a seperate entity is still under the same corporate banner as Elder Scrolls. Short version they will want to market their new product first and foremost and maximise returns. (especially with Christmas not all that far away) Also now I mention Christmas if Fallout had not come out now I would be jumping on the bandwagon shouting ES V Christmas release w00t!! Obviously not the case. To keep myself from rambling too much I will cut it short and say it is my belief that the earliest we will see an Elder Scrolls announcement is January 2011 onwards. Good news is though i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be no more than 6 months from announcement to release. I can hope right? Anyway TL;DR Marketing will want to sell Fallout during Christmas then promote Elder Scrolls 5 for a possible summer release.
Thanks for reading. Hope you are all ok and i didnt make a prat of myself in my first post!
