Official TES V Speculation Thread #71

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 2:02 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112872-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-177/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. Any claims to having insider information will be removed. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

Be announced on November 5th as a bonfire night tribute. Or 31st of October as a Hallowe'en tribute

"It states "Deadline", so its not an estimate of the response.

EDIT: That's what I understood from your post anyway. "

Other than them filling an option for an Oblivion movie not to much, you can get most of your information from the interviews oh and yes the Skyrim trademark.

Yes. Antibody's magical smoking cat can, he's quite a talented little feline.

Your best bet is to read the last couple of threads and the links in the OP, but the short is:

A lot of people (though not all) speculate that an announcement will be made after the release of FONV and before the end of March 2011 (though that is just kind of an arbitrary date). The details which build this theory are numerous, convoluted, and frankly just speculative at best regardless of the notions provided and from whom.

We could also assume that 300 million really is intended for marketing, I mean...look at the crazy amount that Bethesda Softworks is spending on TV ads and getting it literally on every single gaming site known to man.

Nope, the 300 million and the 150 million are for development. The investment group outlined it as such.

I'm not sure if you guys know this, but Joseph Kosinski, the director of the upcoming Tron Legacy movie, is making a movie called Oblivion. It has nothing to do with the Elder Scrolls though... it'll be based on a yet-to-be-written graphic novel.

I just wanted to make sure that's not the Oblivion movie you're talking about.

No...because it was recently trademarked which means absolutely nothing.

Ah I see. I just didn't know what you meant about the "recently trademarked means absolutely nothing"... that sentence didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense in reply to what I posted.

From your perspective you are correct! You may go back to ignoring this thread until next time you want to poke your head in to find us speculating on a different time frame. Afterall I am not sure what else you would be expecting since if we had true impending knowledge of an announcement it wouldn't be some well guarded secret relegated to the readers of this forum, hahaha, this is the "best guess as to an announcement" thread after-all, and it will always be a moving target until it actually happens.

March 2011 seems reasonably the latest because it is a real Fantasy month. get it talked about while the marketing infrastructure is present. Dragon Age and possibly Skyward Sword means everyone's thinking about Fantasy games.

*Sigh* I just had a short flashback to all the times we were absolutely sure the announcement was coming, haha. It's funny and depressing at the same time. I'm just glad that after TES V is announced and released, speculating on Fallout 4 and TES VI will be much easier. Speculating on TES V has been hard because the release of Fallout 3 screwed up the chance to use nail down a definite pattern in Bethesda's release schedule. But now that we know that they're currently focusing on one series and have the other in pre-production, we'll know that after the release of TES V, we shouldn't expect TES VI until after Fallout 4, and after the release of Fallout 4, we should expect Fallout 5 until after TES VI, and so on and so forth.

Consensus on how they will announce?? :foodndrink:

They'll announce it themselves on their website, that's for sure. They'll also likely reveal the Game Informer cover some time later, if they don't leave it up to Game Informer themselves to announce it of course.

Well I hope they break tradition entirely, so I don't think you will fine a consensus, but I think there are a lot of people who will rely on Oblivion's announcement on the website and subsequent GI cover as the method.

Personally, I would like a throwback to the days of yore when there was a bit of fanfare and dramatics to a long awaited game announcement. There were some crazy old school announcements in the past. I remember seeing it on the news when Super Mario 3 was announced... crap like that doesn't happen anymore, but there were even some amazing press conferences back in the day when Sega and Nintendo were vying for console domination. It would be nice to see something really epic for an announcement, but alas I am sure the masses are corrected in the formulaic "announce to GI cover" method as they similarly repeated it as close as possible with FO3.

Let's just hope that they don't attach banners to the rear of planes and fly around, or for that matter put something on a billboard. I think its 100% possible that if i saw something like that while driving that I would go clear off the road all while pissing myself lol. Something else that would be cool is if they incorporated that into movie theatres. By that I mean like the beginning previews, and turn that preview into the trailer for it, I would start screaming and throwing my popcorn all over the place :celebration:

You know that the Roman numeral V is also the symbol for the sacred feminine, or the Chalice/Grail. Could this mean that our intrepid TES V experts are on a quest for the Holy Grail? I thought that it was an amusing coincidence.

It would be nice to have something different, I guess. Bethesda did have a press conference to announce New Vegas. But the reason I really want to see a GI cover is not only will the article in it contain a bunch of information, but game Informer will almost certainly create an online http://gameinformer.com/p/resistance3.aspx http://gameinformer.com/p/infinite.aspx http://gameinformer.com/p/arkham2.aspx http://gameinformer.com/p/dragonage2.aspx http://gameinformer.com/mag/infamous2.aspx http://gameinformer.com/mag/gearsofwar3.aspx http://gameinformer.com/mag/bulletstorm.aspx http://gameinformer.com/mag/portal2.aspx.

I don't think anyone is pushing it back, I think it has been back and forth all along, part of the speculation

No, we aren't pushing it back now, but we have pushed it back multiple times in this thread's existence. For example, last July we were really positive it would be announced before the end of July, but obviously that didn't happen.
