Official TES V Speculation Thread, #82

Post » Sun Jun 06, 2010 7:55 am

I personally don't think Bethesda will announce TESV at a big event first. I believe that they will give a short announcement saying they have almost completed it and are planning to release it in four-six months. They will show trailers and screenshots of it from this point to completion. Any event in this time will have TESV related info in them but won't have it announced there. I will make no speculation on its release for I do not know how far they are on the game and am hoping they get everything done well and don't rush it. I also believe the Eurogamer is not to be trusted. I will probably be proven wrong here, but I am sticking with it until other wise proven wrong. It seems to me like the things parents do to make there children confess things that the parents had no previous knowledge of. Example P "Hey get in here now!" K "What?" P "Did you think for one moment that you would get away with it? If you confess now your punishment won't be as bad." K "Okay I [insert wrong doing here]" P (Wow I had no idea that this even happened) K (How did they know I did it?). P=Parent(s) K=Kid(s)

Any reason for you thinking that? Like, you suspect that Bethesda likes not having the increased press coverage from big events?

Don't want to sound hostile but you didn't really back up what you said at all...

I mean seriously, ES:V is going to be the event of the year for most (unless Half Life 3 is announced in full glory). What possible motivation could Bethesda have for not levering their rabid fanbase to its full potential? "Hey guys let's make a big deal out of this ES:V announcement thing! Because that's what this is! A big deal! Hundreds of thousands of people are eagerly awaiting any official word from us - Bethesda!"

"Nah we were thinking of just slipping it in in one of the blogs... you know? No reason to market the game at all..."

Look how fast the Eurogamer rumor spread. Back when Bethesda announced Oblivion through their own site (and not at any big gaming event), the result was very similar: soon the news was everywhere.

Bethesda doesn't need to announce TESV at a gaming event to make a big splash and get noticed.

Something interesting I found while poking around hehe, Dataming is fun, September 30th they made a private placement to an unknown source, http://investing.businessweek.com/businessweek/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=27422911

You got the right link, but it seems the wrong info...

It also says that they bought up http://www.machinegames.com/pub/index.php5 A couple of quotes from their main page:

"Creators of High-Scoring "Chronicles of Riddike" Game will Use id Tech? 5"

Chronicles of Riddike - first person action game, praised for voice acting. And I'm pretty sure I've heard the words 'id tech' on these boards as well...

"MachineGames is working on an unannounced project for ZeniMax publishing subsidiary, Bethesda Softworks, that is being built on id Software's revolutionary id Tech? 5 engine technology."

Unannounced?

Bethesda Softworks?

iD tech?

Working?

And they're Swedish, who use a language which is actually rather similar to Danish.

New crazy theory.

ZeniMax fly over to Sweden to discuss with MachineGames their Private Placement, and to get them working on TES V. Two weeks later, excited Machine Games employee starts talking about TES V on a plane, which s/he's been told about so that he can design/create/make more of the game. EuroGamer Denmark employee, who has a vague understanding of Swedish, overhears certain phrases that s/he recognises, which is why there is so little information.

DISCLAIMER - THIS HAS NO BEARING ON THE TRUTH, WHATSOEVER. MOST OF IT IS BASED ON GUESSWORK, AND IMPORTANTLY SPECULATION. HOWEVER, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO RIP MY IDEA TO SHREDS :P

Ah, just imagine I'm doing that in this space. I think you need to take a detailed accounting of the few facts we do have (BGS is not using iDtech, a game is has been in production at BGS for the last two years), as well as some reasonable ideas (BGS would not outsource its flagship series).

Yeah, I know it's probably all wrong. But if you see MachineGames on the side of the box, you heard it here first :P

There's a reason this is called the "Speculation Thread" and not the "Let's Only Discuss Facts" thread.
Agreed, if we only discussed the facts this thread wouldn't have a reason to exist :P

You both drag a very fine line. There are indeed facts that we know in that they are REAL pieces of information that pertain to reality. However, the question, for which this thread is purposed, is whether any of these facts line up with TES:V. So be careful not to dissect all "facts" from the discussion here lest we descend into completely relativistic conjecture.

Yeah, I know it's probably all wrong. But if you see MachineGames on the side of the box, you heard it here first :P

This article is just a regurgitation of the Eurogamer Denmark article, but thank you anyway for sharing the link with us. :)

The text says nothing bar vague release date.

The box is laughable.

It is baseless and I think I could do a better job using Paint for an image... sheesh... why bother trying at all if it is going to be such a fail.

I kind of want to attempt to make box art for ESV, just so I can show that I can do a better job. :)

Well even though it's baseless what's interesting is they say it's 2nd quarter 2011 for the German site.

100% fake box art there.

I've read that TES 5 will use the same engine as Oblivion, gamebryo. Haven't had time to read through all pages here yet, any of you, (or all of you), know something about this?

Ok, this is just me speculating here but IF gamesas received additional funding perhaps they are going to try and beat out the competition at the VGAs with presentation.
EDIT:By stealing the spotlight.

So after Game Informer reveals the January Issue on December 6th, does anyone know when they'll give a sneak peak for the next issue/February cover? When we see that sneak peak it will be the only way to know if that its TES V or not. But after Andy McNamara saying that we have been begging for February forever and all the other articles and hints about TES V, I'm sure we are nearing the announcement.

Well and they said they would announce the game "soon" not necessarily ES V but certainly the next game they have been doing and all signs point to it being an ES game.

also in the pod cast ep 1 Todd said that 2009 was a lot of new technology and this year has been adding a lot of content.

I also believe in the part when they say its the game they want to play, that it will be the next TES. I mean they are TES that just sounds like something they would do. If they dont like it they wouldnt be there...

We don't normally get sneak peaks for upcoming covers, the January cover (being revealed on December 6th) having a sneak peak in the previous issue is a special case. We wont know what the February cover is until it's actually revealed.

As for the tweet saying "but you have been begging for Feb 4ever," it could be TES V, but of course, it could also be one of the hundreds of other games that people have been begging for 4ever. That said, I do have some hope that it will be TES V.

And if im not mistaken, if they do have the cover they can reveal it later in the month if they wish.

So if your waiting for early feb. then it might not happen just that soon
