Official TES V Speculation Thread, #82

Post » Sun Jun 06, 2010 5:24 pm

I found this on UESPWiki. It's from EuroGamer and it supposedly says that ESV will be a continuation from the events in ESIV. That can either be good or bad depending on how you felt about Oblivion.

You're a week late.

Also, of course TES5 will be a direct sequel to TES4. Number five always follows number four. This is most definitely a good thing because it means Bethesda knows how to count to at least 5.

Sorry I haven't been following these forums too closely as of late. But I'm curious as to how closely related it will be to Oblivion. Like will the events in Oblivion be reference in ESV or will it just take place after Oblivion with no real relation besides timeline?

It would be interesting if they allowed you to import your Oblivion character into ESV, but they would need to work around the fact that there will probably be new attributes.

They are SO smart. I usually get stumped around 4. :)

But seriously, we are at a standstill. I don't expect any new information within the coming days, (that is, until the VGA's, if that's when they're going to announce it) so I wouldn't dwell on it too much. Thank god I got Fallout: New Vegas, it should be a wonderful distraction until we get some concrete news. :celebration:

Well, I think I got it finally.

They had hidden it quite well, but not from me!

You should roll the name of "The elder scrolls V" around a square or 4x4.

SETVCLHERDEROLLS

Then change all the vowel letters to 1 and the rest to 0, which results in:

0100=40001=10010=21000=8

This means 4 years, 1 month, 2 days, and 8 hours after their last elder scrolls related release, they would release TES-V.

The shivering isle was released in (27 Mar 2007) for PC, so TES V would be released at (29 Apr 2011) for PC.

See? That was easy.

I shamed you? By sarcastically responding to your post I shamed you?

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit :slap:

Back on topic: Don't forget that beth said a while ago that they had pencilled in TES 5 for Christmas 2010....

Anyone who's ever played a TES game can pretty much confirm that TESV will be as much a direct sequel to TESIV as TESIV was to TESIII, and TESIII was to TESII. And so forth.

To answer your questions, I'm gonna guess:
Yes.
Yes.
No.

(That last one wasn't a question, but I answered it anyway.)

No, they never said any of that. First, they have not confirmed or denied the potential existence of TES:V. Second, they never said anything about "penciling" it in for Christmas 2010.

I believe you may be dramatically inflating the infamous Paul Oughton quote, where he says that "potentially there's a new Elder Scrolls title in 2010".

That's easy: they're not ready to announce it yet. :P

Seriously, though, in all honesty probably all of those possibilities factor into it - the most significant probably being a matter of development.

Yeah I only played Oblivion and just barely touched Morrowind, so I wasn't completely sure whether that was the case or not. But sounds good, I just can't wait until we hear something, at this point pretty much anything will create huge excitement.

Development wise it's probably ready to be shown, as todd said, but yeah... as annoying and frustrating as it is, its probably Fallout (again) getting in the way.

This may be a wee bit over-anolyzed, but Todd said that HE was ready to show it - which does not necessarily mean that the game itself was really ready to be shown. For some reason I took it to mean something more like a proud father ready to show off his little league baseball player (even though he hasn't hit the majors yet). In other words, Todd was really proud of what they had and wanted to show it off but Bethesda wasn't quite comfortable with the progress yet to unveil it.

does anyone remember the vague references to Oblivion in Morrowind, do you think it will be the same as TESV?

One thing that I think would be a nice addition to this thread is if all new confirmed links could be linked up on the first page of said thread, to keep from having to dig through 11 pages of possibles,

in purple or something

But, any updates? Doesn't sound too much like it but I thought I'd check with the experts.

Beyond the Eurogamer Denmark article (and subsequent repeats) and GI Editor's tweet saying that the game people have been begging him for will be the February cover: nothing.

Some words about the tweeet: GI Editor could talk about: Half-Life Ep. 3, GTAV or even Mass Effect 3... there are many games that ppl are begging for. Not only Bethesda has loyal fans.

For ever alone... Without TES V...

Just because those are the only real atricles or something (wouldnt say real... But they are there) doesnt mean thats it. There are also the dates that people believe are going to point to when it will be anounced. Like there is the VGA december 11th, Feb Game Informer, March (i believe...) because its the aniversery of TES IV. Then there is also copy rights but dont think there is much solid info with those. Anyone know the current status of them? Did something happen where they needed to wait a month before they could do something?

A great word of caution to which I agree entirely.

*sigh* I'm all for being helpful (and I'll try to contain my disgust here), but all your questions could have easily been answered if only you had taken time it took you to write your post and placed it instead into reading the first post of this thread...

I presume you meant the trademark applications? They have to wait a month after their mark is published for opposition before they're allowed to use it - although this doesn't require them to use it after a month (they go as long as 36 months).

They did not mention the novels at all, following chronologically could also mean that the books are still after TES V.

food for thought

just what I said. todd didn't say such a CLEAR thing. he spoke about a secret project, but didn't mention TESV. so my question is : where todd did say that he was ready to show TESV but cannot show it yet ?
