If the February Game Informer cover is TESV, that would still leave open the possibility of the grand world reveal to be in December, possibly at the VGAs.

A teaser showing at the VGAs, then the more detailed article comes in February Game Informer.

I think the January Game Informer will be something else, "I am Alive" or something to that effect (I know I got the title wrong, but the key thing is it is not TESV and it is in a modern setting, possibly someplace involving a big dead boat)

About what time is the VGAs in eastern standard time? I have a hockey game that night so I may miss exciting news the moment it breaks :c

I was reading Wikipedia earlier today (yeah, I know its a horrible source), but I was surprised to learn that there was an Elder Scrolls V article, which said the Eurogamer article interviewee-boffin had confirmed that it was TES V in production, but just not revealed what it was.
Is this true or is Wikipedia worng?

Wow, it has been so long since I posted on a speculation thread. Seems to mutate into some other monstrosity (not derogatory, Fallout reference) my first visit was a huge argument over the inclusion of Werewolves to Werebears and Weresharks. Then my second visit was about guns being included. I was convinced on the first subject, since in Lore and Fandom it would be accepted to have Lycantrhopy and variants included, but the guns thing... no way in hell.

but this Eurogamer thing seems ridiculous. To make any assumption based off something with no factual backing is ludicrous, who knows what might have been said, and if the person attempted to glean any information from the source, or if they are merely baiting. I'd pay close attention to the cover and tweet. It seems that there are few titles that I can think of besides this series that hasn't had lots of info, and this is certainly something a lot of people are looking to see come out.

Why are we still talking about that Eurogamer article when we have more convincing evidence of an announcement of ESV? Remember the tweet by Andy McNamara that the February issue's cover was what people were begging him for? It is very likely to be ESV, and the timing is wonderful.

Ugh, I'm not getting my hopes up the way I did a few months ago. Better to be pleasantly surprised if it's right instead of being massively disappointed it it's wrong.

There's a reason this is called the "Speculation Thread" and not the "Let's Only Discuss Facts" thread.

Agreed, if we only discussed the facts this thread wouldn't have a reason to exist :P

I would love to think the VGAs will be where we see TES V revealed, but honestly it is really unlikely. It's definitely possible, but I just don't think it's going to happen. I still have hope for the next few GI covers, though obviously the next one wont be it. My opinion is still that we'll see an announcement before the end of February, and if we don't, well, I'll be extremely surprised.

Correct, currently we only posses wishful thinking until such time in which we are given the required information to form a more informed theory.

Where is this tweet you speak of.

And from the "rumored" interview, it's still using gamebryo. Better frickin' look like an african white christ from space. Or I'll be slightly disappointed and still get the game anyway.

...So to clarify? I should expect news next week.. and the preview(picture only) for a magazine being released in february should be out in the early days of January (anywhere from the 5th to the 9th or so). Lovely.

http://twitter.com/#!/GI_AndyMc/status/2446334590189568, and http://twitter.com/#!/GI_AndyMc. His feed is responsible for nearly half the speculation in this thread, so you might want to follow him to keep up on it in the future.

Also, nice underhanded Get Him To The Greek reference. ;)

WIth the game informer tweet... I wouldnt count on this to much becuase we are not the only people begging for games. There are many other games that people are wanting and asking him about. Yes we have been asking him "4ever" but just about every tweet that is made like this it turns out to be a let down. I mean very well could be still but Im just not gona get to excited about it... Yet.

I think there's definitely a chance. TES fans have been some of the most voracious when it comes to keeping up on potential announcement news, so I wouldn't count his statement as inaccurate if the February cover was TESV.

That said, there are other sequels people have been asking for just as voraciously. Half Life 3 is definitely an elephant in the room there.

EDIT: It would appear that GI's January cover (which will be announced Dec 6 and out that same month) is http://tombraiderbiz.tumblr.com/post/1702924050/confirmed-a-survivor-is-born-is-square-enix-owned. Not that we were really banking on it being announced that month anyway, but it's worth mentioning. The February issue (again, announced/out in January - hard to keep track sometimes!) is still an unknown entity.

For those of us not in the know, what does this mean? For the sake of argument, what could it mean, and what does it most likely mean?

I think we can assume that Bethesda will want to release in a fairly quiet month for the gaming industry: they want to be able to own a whole month. With recent games like Mass Effect 2 proving that big budget games can be successfully released outside of the holiday season, does anyone think that December/January announcement - February GI cover - Q1 or Q2 2011 release sounds unreasonable? At the moment, May 2011 is practically empty. The only direct competition ES:V would have being released there would be Kung Fu Panda 2 and Back At The Barnyard (I don't know either). Seems to me that Bethesda could totally dominate that month.

The only thing is that that is quite shortly after Brink's release, and they may want to avoid conflict there. However, the two games are pitched to slightly different demographics, and I can't imagine a late May release interfering too much with Brink's sales, which is released 12th April. Of course, I'm no anolyst and so I could be way off.

But I have predicted a December reveal, January GI cover and early 2011 release for a while. It's optimistic sure, but it's gained credibility with Andy McNamara's tweet and this whole Denmark thing.

Edit: of course my January GI cover prediction has now slid to February, but overall...

It basically means that they got additional funding for a project or some operation of business

http://sbinformation.about.com/cs/creditloans/a/prplacemt.htm

also, using the site http://investing.businessweek.com/businessweek/research/stocks/private/board.asp?privcapId=27422911I can figure out who their board is, what connections each member has ect and more often than not board members are investors in the company. On top of that, I know about 45ish of the employee's names through sources such as game industry.biz which is a resource site for people interested in game design such as my self. I could also tell you that ZeniMax Online has a VERY small team as in under a staff of 15..well at least what's public knowledge anyway.

Didn't we hear about them receiving additional funding pretty recently? I don't remember whether it was at the end of September, but it was brought up in a previous thread.

Anyone check what Jeremy Soule is doing?

What about notable voice actors from Oblivion? While i don't want to have a repeat, they may use the same again.

Edit: What Orchestra would they book for the theme music? What about artists?

I dont mind if they use the same voice actors, i just want mreo of them. I like the red guards voice, but for the love of god have differnt voices for the other races, not just 1 voice for all races of elves etc.

A google search came up with nothing, someone else might be able to search deeper, though...

I haven't checked this, but I have a fun fact:

14 voice actors were used in Oblivion.

14 voice actors were used in Morrowind.

:o

Soule apparently uses an electronic orchestra.

Why do people think it unlikely we will get VGA announcement? This may have been covered but there is a lot of speculation to read through.

The only reason I can see is that they have not done it before.

I think it is likely, I shall list why:

1) There are a lot of games to be announced at the VGAs - I think about 8 or 9 of which we do know know about (but can predict new Tomb Raider, Nathan Drake, GOW, Half Life (new Half Life would make up for no TES tbh), Doom etc), can expect these to be big/anticipated titles, TESV is one of those.
2) Taking into account point 1, to make any announcement of TESV within any brief period of of the VGAs would surely be diluting the impact of said subsequent announcement. However, it could also be argued that the dilution would actually be to those games announced at the VGAs and a subsequent reveal might have more impact. Advertising is not something I know anything about. Point 2 hardly contributes towards my overall point.
3) Bethesda are now big hitters, they can probably afford to do reveals at big awards ceremonies whereas pre FO3 and pre TESIV perhaps they could not
4) The huge amounts of media interest in the Eurogamer article gives it a credibility that it would not have otherwise been afforded - a planned leak with the intention of going viral would not be inconceivable shortly before an announcement, if this is the case then the timing for the VGAs is good.

Anyway, when I say "likely", I am not expecting to see it at Spike. I would dearly love to, and looking forward to the event for that reason, but I have been waiting so long, playing Oblivion and Morrowind for so long, that the event of a new TES is just too good to be true (even tho I do believe it to be true) - hell, it's gotta come some time!

Failing Spike, the Feb cover of GI also looks very hopeful. Christmas happening between early Jan and the VGAs would allow the furore of the announcemnts of the VGAs to die down to give increased impact to the Feb GI cover.

Screw it. I take it all back. We won't see it at the VGAs, it'll be early January, with a release late 2011.

Morrowind didn't use full voice acting.

That's my point... you'd have thought Oblivion would have used a tiny bit more...

I mean, I knew it was bad, but I didn't know it was that bad...
