There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

It's not the actual news article that interests me, it's all the attention that it has received from big video game news sites. At least it shows people want another TES, which gives me hope.

Right, which is odd because even star craft II and Half Life 3(rumored) haven't gotten as much attention as this one little rumor has, seems to me it could easily be a set up...and not to mention it's the first concret rumor we've heard about it NOT being an MMO and something entirely different considering IGN has it listed under PS3 and XBOX 360 in addition to PC although with the (Rumor, next to the title).

I wouldn't really get too worked up over the rumour, remember, a few months ago http://www.uesp.net/wiki/UESPWiki:News#Could_This_Be_It.3F_.E2.80.94_August_14th.2C_2010. So I'm thinking we'll see something in the new year, which is only 34 days away, I'm sure we can all wait that long.

I highly doubt it, why would Bethesda want to announce something via a rumour on a Eurogamer board?

Coverage of a rumour doesn't mean much to me. Blog-employees usually have a posting quota, so just because something gets picked up by a half a dozen sites doesn't lend more weight to it necessarily. It just means that the rumour is 'newsy' enough to post.

Trying to imagine that this rumour story - in a non-english blog, with careless wording - is part of a whisper campaign just seems like blatant wishful thinking to me.

I feel safe saying that when gamesas wants us to know about its next game, there will be no equivocation.

I would just like to remind everyone of the Japanese Magazine that was known for leaking early information about unannounced and unreleased games, it too 'leaked' new info about TES that it would be announced at E3 or something in the summer, but we all know they were wrong or else this whole thread would be talking about quite a different topic.

The ambiguous nature of that article about the man sitting behind the developer on the plane sounds slightly off to me. I'm not a follower of Eurogamer (which is where I believe the rumor originated from) so I cannot comment on the reliability of the source, but I wouldn't listen to any of those rumors in the first place. If you didn't see it on the Bethblog, don't give it any credit, that's what I do anyway.

It's a technical thing, its sort of like saying the game will be Oblivion 2, the correct term is really The Elder Scrolls: V, you wrote it right, they didn't.

So if we take the shortest previous period between announcement and release (can probably get that from Antibodies chart thingummy), and take Todd's statement date as a start date, we have a potential "released by" date.

See, when they announced and hyped up Oblivion they disappointed the entire industry when they had to admit that they were pushing the release date back. BGS may feel more comfortable not announcing until they're damn well ready because they want to make promises that they know are good. So your assumption that the time to release is ever shrinking is not totally solid. The very reason that we have yet to see an announcement might be because they delayed the game by a year without us knowing.
