Has to do with Tomb Raider, but hopefully the next one has to do with TESV

As long as TES:V and TES:MMO are two separate games, I don't care.

Most certainly. BGS with Todd and the crew will make TESV most likely but never ever an MMO. And there will be an MMO from ZO, but I doubt that they would name it TESV, it would just be a general game, maybe even in a different continent than Tamriel, to have an opportunity for a new setting and one that doesn't take away from anything BGS may want to do.

A first person RPG MMO might not be such a bad idea. No one here would play it just on priciple but it might do well as there are no first person MMOs yet. (Allthough I have allready designed one, based on Games Workshop's Necromunda).

There are a few first person mmos out there. Everquest, the original, being one. It's mostly played in first person view. Another one being Mortal Online and that's just two of them that I can think of at the top of my head. Everquest being released years ago. Although, Everquest is far more of an mmorpg than Mortal. Where to get quests you actually have to hail npcs and then use keywords in their phrases to continue the dialogue. Everquest 2 is not first person but the first was built in with first person first and foremost in mind. Now that's off topic but anyway as others have mentioned if there's an Elderscrolls mmo it will be seperate from Elderscrolls five. Also further he commented on the twitter clarifying that he was talking about a Zenimax online game that they'll PUBLISH.

Bethesda already said somewhere that they wanted Quakecon to basically remain id's thing and were going to respect that.

Where did they say that? All I remember Bethesda saying is that if they were going to do any announcements, it would be at Quakecon (which they said before last August).

Exactly. And that they did want to develop Quakecon

"E3 is coming up pretty soon. Should we be watching for any announcements from you or is this pretty much it?

Probably not. Just me, personally, both from my days, even though it seems eons ago where I used to attend E3 as a journo and now with my ten-plus years at Bethesda, I just don't think E3 is a great place to announce anything. It's just so much stuff going on that it tends to get lost, so I think we tend to try and go outside of that window for new announcements. I think we'll have a lot of new things to show. For example, all these games that we're talking about will have new stuff. We hope to be hands-on with the majority of them for the press, that kind of thing. But as far as new announcements, I think we would either do those kinds of things and maybe be more inclined to do them at events like QuakeCon. That's now kind of an event that we're working with id to make bigger and better. One of the ways you make it bigger and better is you take some of your stuff and do announcements there rather than doing them elsewhere. So I think it still remains to be seen, but I wouldn't expect any big announcements from us at E3, although it is only April and it's two months away."

Just so you all know, Pete clarified his previous tweet with this: "No. I mean the stuff being done by ZeniMax Online, who have been working on an MMO for a few years that we will publish." So no, IT IS NOT TES:V!

Sorry for bringing this back up, but before someone else freaks over it, here is some clarification on Hines last tweet.

A lot of worrying over nothing BGS doesn't make MMO's thats Zenimax's responsibility.

I'm thinking sometime in mid January or Early February we will hear an announcement about TESV. I would be extremely surprised if we hear an announcement before then.

I wonder which one we'll hear about first: Zenimax's MMO, or BGS's project. Didn't the papers from the court case between Bethesda and Interplay say that Zenimax's game was supposed to be announced last year?

Well I seem to recall that the MMO missed it's 2009 deadline, though I can't remember if that information came from the court documents themselves or if it came from VG247's source. But if they really were aiming for a 2009 release, that may mean they are waiting for TES V after all.

And I hope they do. As I've already said many times here, announcing the MMO before TES V would be disastrous for PR. The forums would be flooded with 'TES V BE A MMO BETHISDA HAV FORSAKUN ME," and nothing short of actually announcing TES V would calm people's outrage. I mean, what else would calm everyone down? They can't say it's not TES V without actually saying TES V is being announced, after all. Announcing TES V first, then announcing the MMO some time later, is best.

Plus all this extra time they get to make the MMO will assuredly help with crushing bugs and making it a better game overall. Not that I'm definitely going to play it, but if it uses the Elder Scrolls name it better be good.

Assuming the MMO is a TES MMO, I seriously doubt the order they're announced will have any long term effect on the sales of either.

Yes, I'm sure people will piss and moan about TES:V being an MMO (and they'll be wrong to think that), but after all is said and done, it won't impact the actual sales of TES:V (the real one) at all, or the sales of the TES MMO at all.

There's an important lesson to take from the fact that Bethesda doesn't respond to rumors: The fact that people get the details completely wrong at certain stages has no measurable effect on the end product.

I just went to http://www.uesp.net/ and saw this headline:

TES V is Oblivion Sequel — November 23rd, 2010

Eurogamer is reporting that TES V will follow on directly from Oblivion. Their story comes from a journalist who sat behind "a person involved in the game" on a plane trip, so should be taken with a large pinch of salt, but is still interesting as so far in the Elder Scrolls series, no game has been a direct sequel to another.

Lovely. Thank you UESP, thank you.

No, it wont effect sales in the long run, but it will still be a gigantic mess for PR to clean up, and I don't think they want to do that.

Ha, true, and Pete Hines has had to clear up messes in the past. QuakeCon 2009 comes to mind.

so with conflicting reports, it could be a brand new IP...I wonder

They're not waiting for TES 5 to release the mmo. That would have nothing to do with it being delayed a year. I'm a huge fan of mmos as well as the Elderscrolls and have played just about every mmo on the market. That being said it's very common for an mmo to be released such year and then actually being released several years later. In the mmo industry delays are the norm and are practically never released "On time." Plus Zenimax is probably fully aware that releasing an mmo that isn't finished will spell death to the mmo or end up lingering on life support for several years. So there's no need to worry that the mmo is delaying TES 5 or the other way around.

The MMO is a completely different project from what BGS does. It shouldn't affect TESV and it better not affect it :swear:

There is an official thread about a TES MMO which to the best of my knowledge isn't even confirmed to exist and if it did would be made by a different studio with a different budget in the first place. So go there to talk about that.

So, February. Well, there's only six days until the next cover reveal, which even though it's not TESV I am curious about.

Like the III in Morrowiiind?

or the II in Daggerfall...oh wait. Really though, the whole Roman (Reman?) numeral speculation is a little silly. I guess probably more rooted in logic than some other forms of heretical divination you see in this thread, but silly none the less. I've even seen "SkYrim" suggested an elongated V in place of the y. So I guess we'll see SuMMerset as TES: 2000?
