Official TES V Speculation Thread #83

Post » Sun Jun 13, 2010 10:31 pm

Wait, so the February GI issue is the one we are hoping will have the TESV cover, and it will be released in January, but the cover will be revealed in a week or two..

..right?

These magazine dates are so confusing..

I'd say at the time the January issue is released we see what February is going to be. Maybe even including another hint like the one that was in the December issue, except of this time of course it will be TESV! (hopefully)

I agree here. While I certainly would not receive a VGA announcement with disappointment, a January announcement and GI reveal seems the most promising of the two.

Agreed. But caliente damn-a-nito an unexpected announcement trailer would be magnificent.

What was the hint last time?

Now hey who was it who said that threads are better than polls for showing general opinion to the company? Because I've noticed since that came about there have been eleventy-billion new polls.

And of course for those just joining us, the January GI announcement means the February issue. Which is also what I think is the most likely scenario at this point.

I take it with a big grain of salt, though. I remember how massively disappointed I was when it turned out the GI issue a few months ago ended up being Dragon Age II instead of TESV, which we were so sure it was going to be.

Pete Hines just tweeted this o.O!

"Had a good morning going over MMO stuff. Hoping for an easier drive back to the office than it was coming here so I can get some work done."

Dear God... if that's his real account, that scares the [censored] out of me. I hope he's not talking about TES:V :brokencomputer:

I always get confused between Todd and Pete, so is Pete Hines BGS or Bethesda Softworks?

It could be? Oh God PLEASE don't let it be TES. Debunking myth time:

He wouldn't accidently drop it through Twitter. He's Pete, he's the guy who's kept the game under a lid for 4 years.

ANTIBODY SAVE US!

Edit: to clarify, he might have meant the legal stuff with F:O. which I totally researched before editing this post >.> <.<

Don't get your panties in a bunch: Pete is the VP of marketing for Bethesda Softworks, who have an MMO branch, Zenimax Online. ZO is incidentally hiring pretty heavily right now (even more so than before), with many of the positions being client side stuff. But thats all for the other official thread ;)

[edit] The Fallout MMO is not being made by Bethesda or its affiliates.

Well TES was Bethesda's baby, so Pete would have a right to look over a TES MMO regardless of who was making it, right?

Maybe he's talking about going over ZeniMax Online's MMO stuff. Right.

Right??

TESV ISN'T AN MMO...

Todd and BGS DON'T MAKE MMOs.

There is an official thread to discuss this tweet, and official MMO thread, not THIS thread as outlined in the OP.

Pete can do whatever he wants for any branch of the Zenimax family including Tango, Machine Games, Id, all the published games, Zenimax Online, and anyone else Zenimax wishes to create/consume.

I have a hunch that Elder Scrolls V will take place at least partly in Valenwood. I say that because I could see them taking the numeric "V" and and applying it to the "V" in Valenwood in the title art somehow. Sorta like when you first turn on Oblivion, all you can see is the big "IV" in oblivion, signifying a roman numeral 4, until pans out revealing the whole text.

Seriously, I still can't believe people ever even considered that TES V would be an MMO, and yet people still think that based on a rumor from like 2 years ago.

Relax, Pete Hines isn't going to go on Twitter and say that(about the next TES game) after months, if not years, of saying "BGS does not make MMO's"... If anything it's a proposed future project, looking in on ZeniMax, or sorting stuff out with Interplay. What ever BGS is making right now, presumably TES:V, will NOT be an MMO.

Back on topic.

Do you see me talking about TES:V? No. I am talking about a spinoff TES MMO, which would be made by ZeniMax Online but that Pete Hines would be involved in. I am actually disproving that TES:V will be an MMO. And the reason I am discussing a TES spinoff in the TES:V thread is because I am debunking a rumour that was originally posted in relation to TES:V and not the TES MMO spinoff as it should have been.

So chill the [censored] out.

I really didn't mean to come across as yelling (though in hindsight the caps and the lack of grammar didn't help any), but I see what you mean, so sorry about that! I am all for a TES MMO really, just doesn't belong here so as I am now (right now in this very post) hypocritically discussing the MMO in the wrong thread and be done with it :) Anyway, sorry if I came across poorly.

A first person RPG MMO might not be such a bad idea. No one here would play it just on priciple but it might do well as there are no first person MMOs yet. (Allthough I have allready designed one, based on Games Workshop's Necromunda).

People just need to remember Bethesda Game studio's does not make MMO's. The game we're waiting for will be a single player game. Not that i'm against Zenimax trying it. As long as TESV is the best rpg this gen, make an MMO as well... whatever.

Duuuudes, Pete is in charge of marketing for Zenimax in general now (or at least I'm pretty sure he is). This means he looks at marketing for everything, from Bethesda's next game to whatever it is Zenimax online is doing. Not necessarily a reason to panic.

Oh, and there is no way there will ever be more races. 10 races with 2 sixes each is already a nightmare for voice acting in terms of sheer volume. They'll increase that over their sound departments dead and dessicated bodies.

Also, on an interview with Todd Howard on Planet Elder Scrolls for the Elder Scrolls anniversary, he said they'd rather make the existing playable races better than adding new ones. He also said the same for skills.
