Official TES V Speculation Thread #83

Post » Sun Jun 13, 2010 5:00 pm

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112872-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-177/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. Any claims to having insider information will be removed. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

Well, I think we can put this whole 'the eurogamer rumour post was an intentional leak' theory to bed now - I never put any stock in it, but if there was any truth to it I think that surely there would have been a follow-up of some kind on the next following business day after the long weekend of speculation.

Back to waiting as before - with no reason to think that an announcement is coming on any particular day, but only when gamesas is ready to go big.

Post limit reached.

I am tempted to take the liberty to make the next speculation thread.

Denied.

Anyhoo, chronological does not necessarily equal direct, but the wording in the original Danish article is ambiguous; the Eurogamer dude probably only heard snatches of a conversation not in his native language and the Andy McNamara tweet is our best bet for a near announcement, with optimists predicting the VGAs on December 11th.

Pardon me while I laugh myself silly. How anybody could let themselves get hung up on a McNamara tweet again....

I really think the VGA is a great opportunity for Bethesda to announce there game, due to the fact that they said they're ready to show it but when they do, they really want to show a lot. This would be a great time to announce the game while showing a lot of it. This is just my opinion.

Ok so to sum it up so people dont go posting in here about the TES V being anounced by Eurogamer... WE KNOW. Please dont say guess what i found :P Last week info. And really all other pages about it just reword everything or quote eurogamer.

One thing that makes me laugh thouhg is this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elder_Scrolls_V from wikipedia. they make it sound like they know a bunch of the details :P

and please dont make a new thread on your own...

Again?

Regardless, in light of the current evidence, the McNamara is kind of our best bet. It's like comparing my chances of winning the lottery and winning the lottery twice, but the difference is there ;)

Did it say chronological or direct sequel? We need more fuel for that debate.

A lot of this thread is complaining about . . . this thread. OK there may be hordes of people popping in to inform everyone of this new information at Eurogamer and you were sick of it a week ago - fine. However if this thread is merely a discussion of the thread itself it's going to get locked for being off topic.

So please, keep this discussion focused on TES V speculation rather than gripes about the thread being repetitive or the Eurogamer preview being a right pain in your tush.

Indeed. Mind your station, do not usurp the mods.

There are some official threads that we let normal members continue but we like to keep a firm hold on the more high-profile ones. We also have the ability to edit the OP and copy all of the content, UBB code and all, to paste in the new thread so it's more practical for mods to continue official threads with informative OPs. :)

Obviously the very title 'The Elder Scrolls' is a reference to when they are going to announce TES:V. As you can plainly see, the word 'elder' has five letters in it. This backs up my hypothesis because five letter words are pretty rare. Now, if we translate 'scrolls' loosely into Latin we get 'libros'. I think that it is safe to say that this is a reference to the zodiac sign Libra, which ran from the 23rd September to the 23rd October in this year's western calendar. Obviously we did not receive an announcement in that timeframe, but the Libra sign contains the Greek letter Omega. Omega often denotes 'the end', and so this is clearly a hint by Bethesda's marketing team that they will announce The Elder Scrolls at the end of the year, which is when the VGAs are.
I am so sigging that :P

Edit: It doesn't fit D:

I thought they would accept my early Christmas present of saving them time on making a new thread.

...sure I misplaced a link, but it is the thought that counts :(

I speculate that there will be horse combat in elder scrolls V including casting spells from horseback and pikes.

Hey! By the way, something I wanted to mention... the game might not be in Skyrim...

I have seen a TON of trademark applications appear AFTER announcements have been made and well into development. A prime example is the DLC for New Vegas, but there are a ton of other ones too.

Oh yeah and that ship for the next cover is gonna be Tomb Raider according to Joystiq.

I'm so confused lol, was Sylt Stryder saying that the cover "people have been begging for" is going to be Tomb Raider or not?

Not... the cover for the "next GI" meaning the January issue, the one previewed in this last "December" issue, with the ship on it.

I speculate that the Germans (forgot the name of the group) bought Bethesda a little time by releasing the Nehrim TC. It's not TES V, but I'm liking it more than Oblivion. Don't get me wrong... I still want an announcement soon, but that mod is making it a whole lot more enjoyable while waiting.

That would be pretty surprising if it ended up not being Skyrim. But why would Zenimax be renewing those Skyrim trademarks for no reason?

It actually is possible to be protecting their interests... Who knows what kind of advertising the wifi company Skyrim could come up with (free cheezy game called 'Skyrim' for its users exclusively etc. and then there are the hats, t-shirts, etc.) Pete Hines actually did respond to my email about the alteration in the trademark when they filed for new ones, and his statement was simply that they file for the marks to protect their interests, and at the time, I thought "Yeah right, I knew I wasn't gonna get a 'oh because it's TESV' answer, so this is the marketers response"; but after seeing the trademark applications of late (i.e. Fallout: New Vegas Dead Money application date 11/16) and of course the aforementioned Square Enix mark referenced in the link to Joystiq after its publication... it occurred to me that we could see the trademark application for Summerset Isles after an announcement, who knows!

Wow, this thread is really picking up speed. I really hope the game is announced by the end of next January, and it seems like things are pointing towards an announcement soon, though I, like many others here, I am inclined to doubt the Eurogamer report.

That hinges on the fact Bethesda was actually so paranoid about a simple wireless company making a game called Skyrim that they filed for their own tradmarks and appear to be filing for new ones indefinitely. Either that or Bethesda somehow knew their next game would be taking place in Skyrim way back in 2006 when the trademarks were first filed, and they really were tying to protect their assets.
