Official TES V Speculation Thread #84

Post » Thu Jun 17, 2010 12:37 am

Statistically speaking some of us actually 'will' be dead before the game is announced/released. Kinda svcks doesn't it?

Some of us will be dead between the time I finish typing this and click on post.

Maybe I will be. But if you are reading this then I didn't. I might be by the time you read this, however....

I revise my VGA awards prediction. I AM however placing all of my Ultra-Luxe credits on a reveal within the first 10 days of 2011.

I am basing this on the Feb GI cover along with an increasing feeling that an awards event would merely serve to dilute what can only be the game of 2011. As I also specule that it will be released between Sept and December next year, based upon Todd's statement about it being the shortest ever time between announcement and release way back in September.

I am still not dead. Or am I?

That's a creepy thought because it means I value my life based on my video game playing... Still if one believes in Heaven, then they've already got Elder Scrolls 5 through to Elder Scrolls 45: That one room in the tower that you couldn't get into

I would laugh if the GI cover was revealed on the 11th. But who would get your Ultra-Luxe credits?

Why are you revising your VGA prediction?

Don't have to reply if you're dead.

I'm in Elder Scrolls withdrawal
I want a freaking game
I'm going to this thread
Hoping all the way

Nothing's been announced
I wonder where it is
If it's not here by morning
I might blow a fuse

TES V, TES V, TES V all the way

I want it now and I want it fast
I must have my way, oh

TES V, TES V, TES V all the way

Where is it, Bethesda
I need it right away

same. the effects include a shiver, doing actual sports, and going to movies with friends. I manage to stave most of them off with COD though.

Yeah, lack of Elder Scrolls causes me to become more social. I don't like CoD, though, so nothing is stopping me. It's becoming a problem.

Am not dead.

Two reasons - the GI editor's tweet about the one we're waiting for - of course that could have been directed at someone other than us rabid TESers, but I would be surprised if there were more rabid groups than us out there. So I do suspect that GI Feb will be TESV. Taking that into account, and also the fact that there are apparently 10 (?) big announcements at Spike, I reckon that Bethesda would be better off waiting til the new year and having the first big gaming bombshell of 2011 instead of being just another name in many.

I will, however, be checking this thread every hour during the Spike awards to see if anything juicy comes to light.

Lucky. I have to perform at a concert and then one of my friends' sweet 16. She invited me, and she's a friend so I pretty much have to go. So unless the VGAs are before eight PM or after eleven PM, I can't watch 'em. :(

What I've been trying to say is that I think people are taking the "shortest time between announcement and release" way too optimistically. If Oblivion's time frame was 16 months, they could do ESV in 15 1/2 months, and it would still be the shortest.

It seems like people are getting their hopes up thinking they're gonna announce it then release like 2 months later, which is ridiculous. I'm HOPING for Holiday 2011, but in all honestly I think we won't be playing until at least mid-late 2012

Yeah, people are getting a bit optimistic because 2 months is ridiculous, but I don't think he would've mentioned it at all if it was just going to be like a half a month shorter. That I think is just as ridiculous. The only reason I think he would've said it was because it was going to be a dramatic change from the way they've been doing things. It seems to me they don't want to announce it way before the game comes out as to not repeat the what happened with Oblivion.

I would guess something like 6-9 months after it's announced it would be released. Gives them enough time to hype it (I wouldn't add development in there as something that they would need to take "extra" time on because that is why I think they are delaying an announcement) and it makes sure that not to many things would be changed from announcement to release.

That would do well for a reveal I guess, if it actually was TES V...though who knows. Somebody says it's something will never expect.

It's not ESV. The present magazine teased us with an image of the next cover that is definitely not from ESV. They also put down December 6th for the reveal for that cover, so that's where that date came from.

We need to create the elder scrolls anonymous thread to help poor souls with ES with drawls :P. Also, since pete told me through his twitter that they have a set date of when and what they are going to announce, he just can't say. It CAN'T be that far off.

It is, I could find the tweet for you but it would take a little bit of digging, we were all talking about it on the last thread.

Of course. One thing I'm sure of is that a tiny, dim light is beginning to appear at the end of the tunnel.

At E3 (or was it QuakeCon?), Todd Howard said that he'd be ready to announce the game whenever, it's just that Pete Hines hasn't told him to yet. It's very reassuring to know that Pete Hines is getting ready for an announcement himself.

An announcement has got to be coming soon...

Andy McNamara(Aug 5th): "And for the people that keep begging for the next Elder Scrolls....trust me, we want it too. Patience."

Link: http://twitter.com/GI_AndyMc/status/20397485690

Andy McNamara(Nov 10th): "Got test samples for our Feb cover today & Jan is already in motion. Jan you won't see coming but you have been begging for Feb 4ever"

Link: http://twitter.com/GI_AndyMc/status/2446334590189568

Pete Hines(Dec 1st): "I could tell you exactly what we're gonna announce, and when. I'm just not able to. Things will become clearer before too long."

Link: http://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/10011902629388288

Me(Dec 2nd): "I think things will become clear in early January when the February cover of GI is revealed and Elder Scrolls V is on the cover..."

Link: http://twitter.com/TheNannersaur/status/10571277450354689

Pete Hines(Dec 3rd): "We've been guessed as the "next cover" for GI for about a year now. So I imagine that's going to continue for a while."

Link: http://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/10713596157763584

Me(Dec 3rd): "It will continue until February... Andy McNamara tweeted that the Feb cover is one that people have been begging for forever."

Link: http://twitter.com/TheNannersaur/status/10919384025399296

Notice how McNamara used the word "begging" in both his tweets. Also, based on my active involvement in GI Online, I can tell you that no game is more anticipated over there than TES V. Whenever GI Online runs a story about Bethesda or the Elder Scrolls, there are always hundreds of comments from people asking about, and for, the Elder Scrolls V. Just read the following links: http://www.gameinformer.com:80/b/news/archive/2010/11/23/elder-scrolls-v-is-in-the-works.aspx , http://www.gameinformer.com:80/b/news/archive/2010/10/16/is-bethesda-s-next-game-an-elder-scrolls-mmo.aspx , http://www.gameinformer.com:80/b/news/archive/2010/11/08/elder-scrolls-song-speaks-to-us-all.aspx

Also, notice how Pete Hines didn't deny that the Elder Scrolls was their next game... I think things are starting to fit nicely into place. I'm hopeful the VGAs will bring good news, but I'm almost positive we are all going to really enjoy GI's February issue...

Nannersaur, you have to realize those two tweets were four months apart. Just because he said begging in both of them, doesn't mean it's going to be Elder Scrolls.
