Well remember in the interviews at QuakeCon, Todd was saying they had an idea of when they were going to announce the game, but it was subject to change. Now it seems they actually set a date, but how soon that is it's hard to tell.

As for the VGA, I've watched some promotional videos for it, and to be honest I never really took Bethesda to be that kind of IN YOUR FACE OMFG WE'RE COOL kind of developer. And that's the vibe I get from those promotional videos.

Would they really gain more sales by announcing through such channels than they would be sending out a general press release and announcing it on the blog?

I don't think anyone really 'expects' it, it's more 'open possibilities' :shrug:

However, Oblivion did have a cover, just not as an announcement. So news of a cover would mean that an announcement comes before that release, or something.

Does anyone think that narrowing subsections underneath sections into two lines instead of a line for each category is a sign that gamesas wants the forums to be more compact so they can fit more new game sections in for a reasonable size? For example, the subsections underneath the Oblivion and Morrowind forums are narrower and adding in ESV would still keep the forums compact.

:nod: I remember that they combined the vanilla Oblivion section and the Expansion & DLC section right before they added the Fallout 3 forums. I think the forum update was about simplifying the site so that they could add more forums later.

I don't know if that has anything to do with it, it's entirely possibly though.


edit, and doesn't bethesda update there forums just before they announce a game anyway? This change right before the VGA's seems timed imo.

really... why in god's name would they put it up on twitter before they announced it? Even if it was leaked, we would have seen it elsewhere. Not to mention, this just looks like Oblivion's cover font with a color shade change. I understand wanting new information, but come on.

Being the sceptic that I am, I have to scrutinise anything that even resembles speculation, and that background has obvious signs of amateur work, albeit somewhat good work. Every ice effect is the same pencil/decal, and it's quite poorly applied.

Why it might be February GI- Andy McNamara said that Feb's cover is one that people have been begging for forever. And if you have been lurking long enough, you can see how crazy it gets here.
