Official TES V Speculation Thread #85

Post » Mon Jul 19, 2010 10:26 pm

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112872-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-177/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. Any claims to having insider information will be removed. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Oh...Yeah.

(Plus I'm not very good at detecting sarcasm in real life, anyway)

Anyhoo, did anyone come up with a reason for Feb GI not being ES:V apart from the Duke Nukem Forever theory? I would be interested to see someone debunk that.

Not that I don't want it to happen, just that I'm wary about getting my hopes up. Again.

Well there's been http://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/10713596157763584 when he was replying to http://twitter.com/TheNannersaur/status/10571277450354689.

That's about it though I think.

Based on the discussion late in the previous thread, it seems like we can't rule out DNF, nor does it seem incredibly unlikely. But you might think that Pete's tweet that Bethesda have fixed an announcement date is some sort of confirmation that the announcement will be soon (shortly after the new year?) You might think this suggests that the Feb GI cover is TES V - a website announcement followed shortly after by a GI cover...

Could be Half Life. Though have they said there would be an episode three? Personally Half Life 3 would be more exciting. As far as begging goes that's all the theory I have.

So there is a definite chance of it being TES V

But what if TES is announced at the VGAs? If it is i wouldnt think that they would have a real reveal showing game content there.

I suspect it's not Duke. There have already been magazine covers with Duke on it, specifically both Pc Gamer and Maximum Pc. Not Gameinformers style to say "hey, here's something other's have already done"

Also, that's "soon enough"
They'll announce it, it'll be TES V, it'll be set in Skyrim, it'll come out between September 2011 and early 2012.

Man, if I were Bethesda making TES V, I'd release a small "Making of the Next Game" clip. Like a teaser.
'This is x, he's responsible for the texturing.' Then show a bit of what he does. Not too much, just to give the fans a small glimpse and launch them into a frenzy. 'This is y, she does animations for characters.' Then watch the fans squeal in glee as a skeleton animation of a guy swinging a sword plays.
Would only have to be two minutes, and you know everyone would be all over it.

Hey you all, long time lurker, first time poster. I've been following these speculation threads for a long while now and find them quite entertaining while at work. Every time a rumour pops its head up, i get all excited. And i'm pretty damn excited for next week.

@Cueball B Finally signed up eh? http://images.uesp.net//c/c4/Fishystick.jpg

I'm personally hoping for a VGA announcement. Even though it's highly unlikely, it will be the only reason I watch.

No, they're just going to end it on that huge cliffhanger and disappoint millions of fans.

Anyway, I'm actually pinning all my hopes on this:

http://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/10011902629388288

'Soon'?

Well, we're discussing Valve Time, but soon is pretty promising...

You want the trailer first though, people won't feel a shock and awww from watching a guy draw but will feel a shock and aww from a fire breathing dragon. Their is a reason why those are almost always released after an announcement trailer and not before.

That's pretty solid, imo. It would seem as though they know when and where they will announce the game. That means it can't be to far ahead and the venue of announcement should already be booked, if he says he can tell us "where".

If they have finalised graphics they will announce it soon, otherwise other games will be made with better graphics which will make TES V look older. So unless they want to redo the graphics they'll announce it soon (all this assuming they have gotten to that stage).

What I was trying to say, is no matter when the game is announced the graphics won't change. If you announce a game with super awesome crazy graphics but release it 10 years later, they will look very outdated when the game will come out, people know how to put this into perspective. If a game is announced with graphics slightly better than what there is, but the release date is quite far, people know the graphics will be outdated, as they know they'd be quite good if it was released the week after. If a date is given with the announcement, it changes nothing as far as hype goes. And even if no date is given, you don't know when the game is going to be released so the graphics still can manage to look outdated.

I really don't see how they'd release the game later to get better graphics (hell, they'd probably have to update the engine, and for consoles, the difference would be minimal unless the whole game is remade) if they announce it too late. No developer update graphics to suit such needs, hell they'd do this only if they'd start the game over like with Splinter Cell Conviction.

Otherwise, on top like this I can't think of a game beside TES V people have been begging for. And if I can find one, TES V is still the most begged for game out there, each Bethesda related post results in people demanding TES V. And in this industry, people are not used to wait more than 5 years for a sequel, Bethesda don't seem to work so much accordingly to today's practices where there's a Call of Duty game each year for example. Even the Halo series had one instalment every 3 years, now it's been more than 5 years without any kind of announcement.

Not trying to be the grammar nazi, but you know it's "shock and awe" right, not aww?

But I agree with you, concept art isn't too exciting compared to a trailer or at the very least, real screenshots.

I'm fairly confident we will see a trailer when we have an announcement (or within the first few days), with some screen shots coming soon after. Concept art is nice and all, but I want some more 'set in stone' information.

This is coming from nowhere in particular by the way. Just what I think will happen.

Once the game is announced though, it's like a boulder being set rolling.... everything should be thought out before it's announced (release date, marketing, game events etc etc). So it's not really possible to just say "it's being worked on" when you think about it.
I heard Fallout: New Vegas was brilliantly marketed, so Bethesda know what they're doing. I agree it's been an incredibly frustrating experience for the fans though, but the wait should be over soon enough.

You're completely right.

The point I (think) I was making was kind of a moot point. That if they are nearly in post production they will announce it soon. If they still have placeholder graphics they may announce it later. But if they are nearing post production they won't announce it later.

Better graphics sell more to the mainstream. Bethesda won't let their graphics age.

Just to be devil's advocate, that's not exactly true. Look at Duke Nukem Forever. Compare the 1997 screenshots to the ones released now.
