Why we we assume Todd means V? When does any of the devs ever notion that it's TES?

What? Just what? How is that evidence? Okay man, you should stop already...

They don't, but think about it. Elder Scrolls is their main IP, along with Fallout. The only games that they could be creating would be TESV or Fallout 4. We already have a confirmation that Fallout 4 will happen, but no one from Bethesda ever commented on TESV. Creating a new IP is risky, very risky, and considering that a bunch of Bethesda and Elder Scrolls fans have been wanting a new one 'cus it has been ~5 years since the last TES makes it more probable that their next game will be it.

its evidence, people are saying that it is more likely to be TES because there is more evidence for it, but DNF has been going on a media blitz since the fall when it was announced. what better place to do a pre-release article hyping a much anticipated game than GI, GI even ran a history of Duke Nukem Forever story an issue or two ago.

i would be incredibly happy to be proved wrong, im just presenting evidence

Here's a question for the few people on this forum who have already received their January issues of GI:

There isn't a teaser for the next cover is there?

Hype it even more? The whole world already knows about DNF, there is no need for more hype. GI already covered this on their website, full of all sorts of info, screens and videos.
As I said, a cover to DNF would be a waste. A bunch of people already covered it, GI is all about being the first to cover it.

Just look at all the news about DNF http://www.gameinformer.com/search/searchresults.aspx?q=Duke+Nukem&searchtype=news
There is no need for more.

If there was, I'm sure it would've been mentioned. I'll double-check when my copy arrives, but I doubt it.

I actually appreciate counterpoints, and I do consider DNF a possibility. What I ask you is this:

"Has Andy McNamara ever given away the title of the next cover of GI by tweeting even a portion of its name?"

The answer is a resounding "No". He could start a rather career ending trend by taking such a risky leap against his highly popular print magazine only to find a plethora of out of work media experts clamoring for a job like his at a respected and highly popular and profitable print magazine... but that would be very, very stupid. I suspect that the man isn't a dummy.

I think you're right that McNamara, if he were to reveal a GI cover in a tweet, would not do it transparently. But that's not to say that he wouldn't do it in such a way that he could plausibly deny that he was giving hints. I don't think this is a reason to be more confident that he was alluding to DNF with "4ever", however.

You think that by replacing the "for" with "4" it becomes plausible deny-ability? You are not getting hired as my lawyer! :P (no offense intended please)

At the beginning of my reply, I did state that it does remain a possibility, however the main point I wanted to make was that he has never put even a mangled portion of a games title in his tweets which are to spawn cover speculation. He alludes to genre, art style, tidbits of info perhaps... but never references the actual name of the game.

DukeNukenForever? Wow. The [censored] is anyone excited about the game for? Basically, if you like those wrestling characters, you'll like Duke, because he's here to liberate white America from the overlords of your emasculate lives. [censored] a few pixel-babes and downa pizel-ber. You're saved! Video Game ass holes.

Will TEESV been any different? Maybe they're the same game. Maybe games are [censored] holes.

No, I think in both cases he could plausibly deny that he was hinting - if he was - at DNF. Forever ain't an uncommon word, and it's a natural word to use in that context.

I kinda gathered that was what you meant, or at least something along those lines... I was just being silly (which is why I made sure to state I wasn't trying to offend you). I just don't see how the upper brass would let his "hints" be so specific.

I suppressed a lol at that very contemporary comment ;)
If he wasnt now sitting in a UK prison facing extradition to Sweden and / or the US (on, in my opinion, totally idiotic grounds) we could ask him... I wonder if he's got access to twitter on the inside...

You know, when I first heard about WikiLeaks, I thought they leaked movie and video game plots. Turns out they only leak government secrets. Boring. :P

Looking at one of the DNF topics at Gameinformer.com I didn't really see people begging for that game in the comments section.

In July of the ninth year of the third millennium, two contenders to claim the throne of the August cover entered the Speculation arena. Chosen entirely because they were fantasy games, Dragon Age Origins 2 and The Elder Scrolls 5 fought a long and grueling battle. Many people died. But in the end, it was Dragon Age Origins 2 who prevailed, and the concept of TES V again faded away into the hearts and minds of it's fans.

Now in December of the same year TES V has been given another chance at the throne, this time of the February cover. Backed by The Hines proclaiming that he had an exact date planned for the announcement, The McNamara and his tweet, and The Magazine and it's seemingly out of the blue, four page article on the series, TES V has emerged to fight again, and appears to be stronger than ever. It's opponent, Duke Nukem Forever, has many fans, but few have stepped up to defend it. Those that have point to the word "forever," or rather, "4ever" in The McNamara's tweet, saying this magical word is prophecy. They say it tells of the winner of this battle long before it is over. As they read it's breathtaking four letters and single number, an image of The Duke floods into their minds. He reaches out to them with his hand and gives them a magazine. The magazine features an image of The Duke, and below it the words "February 2010." They know this to be fate, and defend The Duke to the death.

Who will prevail in this new battle? Well, my friends, we shall soon find out.

That and it's "Duke Nukem Forever" not Duke Nukem 4Ever, besides who but everyone on this forum would have been begging the dude for anything? So, it's the February cover, which means it'll be out a month from now. Good thing I ordered that Game Informer subscription when it was $5 :vaultboy:

-snip-

Somebody's bored.

I personally think Half-Life 2: Episode 3 shouldn't be ignored as a contender. If anything, more people have begged louder and longer for HL2:Ep3 than anything else.

Also, an Episode 3 announcement would completely shatter everything. I can't think of a more awaited game.

Alright, I have it...

When Fallout was coming out here, the smilies changed to include more nuclear and Fallout styels.

We now have new smilies that include a :bunny:, a sorceror :sorcerer: (in pointy hats no less! ) a dragon :mage: , and some wierdly positioned smilies  :teehee:

From this, it's obvious that there will be vorpal bunny who mezmerizes its prey, conjouration, and the always in demand dragon! There might be some more planar shifting given the wierdly-oriented smilies...or levitation is back! Apparently the character will be a new pink race and romancable

We now have some insight into the game itself and know it's close because they just updated the smilies like they did for a previous game!

My Super Bowl prediction will....come...true! :celebration:

Note: my theory will not be fully realized to the smilies per post limit. Obviously there will be some fun piracy quests and epic sword duels!

Yeah I had to wait for something at 8:30 (still 12 more minutes grr) and I figured I'd do... that.

 Classic.

I think you'll find that The Hines has said more hope-fueling words than "4ever." He's even said full sentences!

I don't know if Valve would announce Episode 3 while Portal 2 isn't out yet.

Speculation:
Bringing back that thing from GameKings again, they mentioned they'd be having more information on a ground-breaking RPG next week. While it's possible to be Mass Effect 3, the Bioware teaser for the VGAs is likely to be a http://kotaku.com/5692552/rumor-biowares-new-mass-effect-is-a-multiplayer-spin+off I don't think it's likely GameKings would reveal Mass Effect 3 if there's already the spin-off. As for any other ground-breaking RPGs, ESV is an option.
