Official TES V Speculation Thread #87

Post » Sun Jul 25, 2010 2:07 am

I would not be surprised if they had a teaser trailer at the VGAs for TESV but I don't know about any kind of information. Thats unlikely.

I really don't see a VGA announcement either, but I will say that since Softworks is publishing the game, THEY do have a precedence for announcing games at the VGA. Brink I believe was a Softworks published VGA announcement... so you never can count it out.

Nah Brink was announced at one of Spike Tv's annual pre-E3 shows where they reveal a small number of new games via trailers.

Ah, thanks! At least Spike was in my head correctly, haha!

My 360 is broken. I won't be buying a new one until Elder scrolls comes out!!! It will be the most satisfying feeling when i bring home my new 360 and Elder scrolls in hand. Even if i have to wait a year, it will be worth it.

I'm new. I've been lurking for a while. Hello, everyone.

I was possessed last month with the feeling that TESV would be announced this winter, the Danish Eurogamer article popped two days after I started scouring the internet for news on TESV and, like most of you, I've been checking these forums twice daily since then.

ANYWAY, I added all these different important people to my Twitter to stay on top of any rumors. I just added Andy McNamara, and was intrigued by this: http://twitter.com/#!/GI_AndyMc

A comment of his said "@michael... it's true!" and when I expanded the quote to reveal the question, it was "@GI_AndyMc Can you confirm the presence of a four-page spread on the history of the Elder Scrolls series in the latest GI? There are rumors."

Everyone be nice if I made any mistakes with the links. Everyone be nice if Andy McNamara is known to be a jokester. If Game Informer is going to have a four-page spread about Elder Scrolls lore, they just must be hyping us up for a reveal!

Hi there! I actually happen to be @michaelbuffaloe, the guy that asked Andy about the spread. It was rumored to be in issues of January's Game Informer, the one that's already gone out to folks. Some who had gotten theirs early mentioned it, so I contacted him for confirmation. If you have a subscription to Game Informer, you should get your issue in the mail sometime over the next week or so, which will have the aforementioned article on the last four pages. And, yes, it's very likely the article is there to "prep" the Game Informer audience for an Elder Scrolls-related announcement. That's why we've been so excited recently. :)

I can't find a post about it, but I just realized a page I missed references a "five page spread." I thought the Andy Twitter stuff was all about whether the Feb cover would include a game with guns or not--didn't realize there were two things being discussed. It also doesn't help that I thought that comment was made today :-/

Regardless, it's the best news yet. I don't regularly read Game Informer or any video game magazines, but I'll be sure to pick up that issue so I can read into anything they write. Really, they wouldn't waste the (FOUR PAGES!) space if they weren't trying to get us excited and in the buying mood.

Michael: I'm not a subscriber. Any idea when the Jan issue makes its way out to stores?

Usually by the end of the second week of the month before the issue is named after - e.g. since this is the January issue, it should be in stores by the 14th of December (in the next week or so). Sometimes it takes more time, which is why issues are "released" a month before the month they're named after. If that makes sense. ;)

Next week it hits the newstands, I think. And that is exactly what we thought, why bother printing 4 page only to talk about Elder Scrolls. It is definately playing with the hype.

Edit: Ninja'd :glare:

As far as I know by the people on this forum. The article has nothing but quotes by the developers in big letters regarding to each TES game (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Shivering Isles). 2 of these pages have quotes, while the other 2 don't have any text.

If it mentioned something about the next book, someone would have already commented. So I don't think so.

I'm not around as often as others, so...how often do you guys see http://screencast.com/t/qaJw0K4nbo If it's not worth pointing out, then let me know. If nothing else, it seems like interesting timing.

EDIT: Hmm...http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/user/341528-socrates200x/ lots of TESV speculation threads, including this one. He's now over at the "TES 5 Location" thread.

EDIT 2: His name is Ricardo Gonzalez, by the way - he's a software programmer for BGS. Just in case anyone was interested.

Isn't that what a blog's for? They don't really have to be super consistent or stringent when it comes to content - if they like something, they put it up.

Anyway, I'm not really sure how that's related to TESV speculation...

Obviously related to FONV but IDK
IDK...
I have followed the blog for years, and Have seen a lot of entries. It definitely has no basis other than a great Title,High Five. as in TES 5. Its a catchy title and I kinda like it. Just seems as if they are just as excited as us. I am on iPhone and it easily had me clicking on the post:)

As I said earlier in this thread, the first two pages are nothing but quotes, but at the time I said that I was under the impression that the two pages I saw were the only two pages there. But there are two additional pages I haven't seen yet, and all I know for sure is that they don't have any of the jumbled text in the background like the first two pages did. Once I get my magazine in the mail in a few days I'll be able to examine the last two pages myself, but for now I have no idea what's in them.

Yeah, a friend of mine has a subscription. I'm too cheap to get one myself, but I'll read it when he gets it. Sounds interesting.

RG is pretty active on these forums, if you talk with him he will usually get back to you. I think he likes looking at the speculation thread for a couple of good laughs haha.

We can now eliminate Duke Nukem Forever as a possibility for the cover.

I feel like Mr. Tissue Box should be giving the news himself, since he asked in the first place, but I just saw it and I thought I needed to show this to you.

MrTissueBox: @Andrew_Reiner Is the next cover a game that was already revealed or not?

Andrew_Reiner: @MrTissueBox Nope!

And what unnanounced game other than TESV have people been begging for forever? HL2: Episode 3 is the only other option I can think of.

I wonder what a certain someone is feeling like who called us all dumb as a glass of water if we didn't think the next cover would be DNF. :P

Yeah, a Half-Life sequel is the only other possible option. But I don't see it happening. With Portal 2 still unreleased (and delayed, I might add), not to mention the whole Elder Scrolls retrospective in this month's article - unless it's an entirely new IP, Elder Scrolls is the only option I'm seeing.

Thank you!

Well, I think it's fair to say that he was pretty dead-set in his opinions. It's not that he didn't have a fair theory - it's just that, we should all be open to as many possibilities as possible. There's no way to know for certain that your opinion is really worth having unless you submit it to endless scrutiny. I still wouldn't say there's no chance it could be anything other than TES - I just think all the evidence points toward that, so there's no other theory (in the realm of predictability) worth throwing my support behind.

Sorry if I am ninja-ing Mr. Tissue Box, or if Mr. Tissue Box is ninja-ing me, but I think this had to be said as soon as possible.

Thank you SteveJ for posting this as soon as possible, and thank you Mr. Tissue Box for taking the time to ask him this.

This calls for a bunneh dance I think: :bunny:

So that narrows it down a bit. It also takes Half Life 2: Episode 3 out of the running because that's technically already been revealed. Though I suppose Half Life 3 is a possibility.

A thought occurred to me that the cover may be something revealed at the VGAs, but that would depend on whether or not one of the games is something that we've been begging for forever will be revealed there.

Guys, lets all come up with a list of games that have been begged for forever, but have not been revealed yet. I'll start:

1. TES V
2. A new Half Life
3. IHRA Drag Rac... nevermind.

I still don't think Valve would reveal the next Half-Life, be it EP3 or HL3 when Portal 2 isn't released yet.

A new Zelda game?

EDIT: Oh wait, Skyward Sword. They already revealed that. I've got nothing, then.

They announced DotA2, but I suppose that's a different matter entirely. And with Portal 2 being delayed over and over again, I guess Ep3 isn't really a feasible option.
