Official TES V Speculation Thread #87

Post » Sun Jul 25, 2010 11:32 am

Yeah, that "T" could mean anything, but nobody in his position tweets something like that accidentally. That's something to keep our eyes on for sure.

EDIT: Well, let me revise that. It's highly unlikely that it's purely accidental. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but I think it's safe to bet that it was intentional.

Regarding that VGA announcement in the morning...let's not get our hopes up. That could be anything. Mass Effect 3 or any other of the number of games that are going to be announced at the VGAs. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, just - retain perspective, if you can.

This may just be over excitement, but anyone notice that Keighley's next tweet starts with an E? :woot:

Probably have to watch for more tweets from him to know if they're really related. Too soon to tell.

I agree, but most people here are convinced that Feb cover is TESV and yet they don't realize how this relates to VGAs.

Think about it, Feb cover is revealed in early Jan which means Beth has, what, 3 or 4 weeks to announce it. They will announce it via teaser, no question about it.

So, yeah, why not on VGAs? What's the point in missing out on VGAs exposure only to announce it three weeks later? That's not competent marketing and it doesn't make any sense. If Feb cover is TESV we'll almost definitely see teaser on Saturday.

I made this same argument a thread or two back, so I know where you're coming from, and I agree with you. I just think, with all the games competing for attention, combined with the fact that TESV is almost definitely the next GI cover - I wouldn't be surprised either way, is all I'm saying.

The chances of a teaser at the VGAs does seem more and more likely each day... I'm still not convinced, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Agreed.

Even a week ago, I would have scoffed at the idea of a teaser at the VGAs. However, as the days go on, I am becoming slowly convinced.

Revealing a game like that is not really Beths "traditional" style, but there's a first time for everything.

With bethesda being so hush hush around the VGA's and all the other studios talking if they dropped a bomb shell such as TES V or what ever the MMO they are working on it would swallow everything whole, the only announcement that I can thing of which would trump that is a half-life episode 3 reveal and some rumors even say that the TES game missed it's debut last year because it was supposed to be released this year. I've always considered that VGA's as a possibility if ZeniMax is looking to make there mark as a AAA publisher and leverage them selves against Activision and EA which seems to be what they are doing. Those publishers are hold news, and honestly they are hanging by a thread. EA is doing trying to get more IP out there but Activsion is really loosing steam, the only franchise they really got are CoD, Transformers, and Prototype going for them which isn't much.

Oh, Activision. With ZeniMax acquiring more and more developers though I hope they continue to make new IPs and don't just split up TES and dole it out to different studios to get them all started

But these are some promising developments! What time are the VGAs this year in GMT? I would go and look it up but I don't even know what time they start for Pacific...

Same here. I just have this creeping fear that the same thing is going to happen as the time Dragon Age 2 was announced.

I'm very optimistic, but I (we) should be more cautious. Let's just hope all this optimisim pays off.

I agree that we should not take a VGA announcement for granted. That would be just setting ourselves up for disappointment.

However, I believe that this is the time from whence on an announcement is reasonable - on any GI cover, at any videogame show, in every Beth newsletter and podcast, in every Beth employee tweet. Now, finally, we can start cranking our expectations up.

I still find it kinda promising they renewed the TM for Skyrim in 2010 and 2006 for both computer games and aparel. Nothing new, as you said, but it is a good resource for what might be comming. Skyrim makes sense to me, they ended the third era with the last game, and revived Asura's lover and the main character in a nation where Lorkhan's heart landed when it was torn from his body by the enraged anuic spirits who created The real of Dawn's beauty (Tamriel) back in Morrowind. It only makes sense to go to skyrim next, since skyrim is where General Talos conferred with the graybeards and became the ninth devine, also being the location of man's arrival on Tamriel from Atmora, to the north. events on TES games are always epic. I can see skyrim providing a great Locale for this.

I would still like to see a huge billboard streamer go up in Times Square at 00:00:01 on January 1st immediately after the ball drops followed by a GI cover the next week. I think that would be epic but alas that would probably be too much to pull off.

With Portal 2 still unreleased (and delayed, I might add),

I blame antibody for this :stare: heh

The new tweets with regards to the "letters" are interesting. You know, Bethesda has a history of posting announcements on their web pages towards the end of the week. hint hint

"Status Update! On Tuesday, November 16, 2010, status on the SKYRIM trademark changed to PUBLISHED FOR OPPOSITION."

What does published for opposition means?

EDIT: Wait, that is for the clothing and merchandise thing... erm, doesn't matter much.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Oblivion announced about a month after it was published for opposition? I swear someone on this forum said that... Anyway, if that was the case, and history repeats itself, the SpikeTV VGAs on December 11th are roughly a month after November 16th...

And then:
"Yes it's true: UNCHARTED 3: DRAKE'S DECEPTION world premiere at VGAs on Saturday. EW has first details and teaser: http://bit.ly/ic6iZT

I think that is what he was talking about on the world premiere front.

But he also said that there, of course, were going to be more premieres.

Bummer. I didn't notice that... But it still doesn't explain the "T"...

Tomb Raider? Could be anything. Could be a mis-tweet. Certainly not worth worrying about for now.

Feb GI could be TES:V, Uncharted 3, the new Mass Effect game (multiplayer ME, not ME3), or maybe even Half Life 3.
