Official TES V Speculation Thread #88

Post » Sun Aug 01, 2010 1:33 am

You folks are still treating this board as a chit chat area and posting about other games and their announcements, folks birthdays and Bioware's habits. Just don't post until there is something new to add about TESV.

How freaking hard is that? Please don't make us sit in this thread 24/7 because quite frankly we can just close all discussion about it.

Take a break. Spend the time searching for something new or call a friend or take a walk. :toughninja:

The trailer is more than likely for ME3, as they pretty much announced it today http://kotaku.com/5711606/mass-effect-3-described-as-battle-for-earth.

This is somewhat worrisome, but I expect that TESV still makes more sense as ME2 just came out less than a year ago.

Anyone think the "4ever" thing might be something to do with the number of years we've been waiting for a new TES game?

We're using deductive reasoning to see whether or not the February cover could be a game other than ESV. The February cover is the biggest speculation piece we have on these threads now and we're looking for circumstantial evidence to rule out other games.

Thanks Summer!

It's possible but can I just say to the mods that there are 30 something people on this topic at the moment so it is obvious that some people are enjoying it. Personally I mostly visit the forum for the speculation thread and I really hope you don't close it :icecream:

I have to agree. Part of determining whether or not Elder Scrolls could reasonably be on the cover of the February issue is anolyzing its competition. It's still related to Elder Scrolls in the sense that we're just discussing the games that could potentially take the Feb cover instead of TES. I mean, if that must be against the rules, then I will certainly stop and encourage others to do the same, but please at least consider our position. Our discussion will be drastically hindered if we are forced to only discuss how likely Elder Scrolls is to take the slot.

Andrew Reiner isn't saying no to our guesses, so therefore he isn't ruling them out.

Oh that's a great sign. One step closer to TESV :celebration:
I asked Reiner if the next cover is going to be at VGAs.

"@SnavenShake I can talk about it. Yes, it is just as awesome."

What does that mean?

That would be smart but he might not have that kind of information. And if he does then I doubt he would tell. Who knows though. Worth a try.

Edit: Bit late on that :obliviongate:

I don't understand what he is saying either. He might not have understood yuo or he could be avoiding the question.

I asked him that as well a little while ago and he hasn't answered it. I don't think he'll answer yours either.

He can't comment on it I guess. Maybe the cover which may be ESV is not at the VGAs and Andrew doesn't want to say "no, the cover isn't at the VGAs." That would rule out all the games announced there and he doesn't want to give that big of a hint.

Silvade: Are you @SnavenShake? Because as I understood it SnavenShake was asking about some feature of a new Red Faction game and said "If you can't talk about it, it's no big deal." Reiner replied "I can talk about it. Yes, it is just as awesome." (it being the specific feature being discussed, as awesome meaning as awesome as it was in the last Red Faction game)

Unless you are SnavenShake, in which case just ignore this post...

Edit: SnavenShake has apparently since deleted the tweets about the Red Faction game.

I just remembered another game that fits the bill for the next cover:

Battlefield 3. It hasn't been revealed yet, and people have been wanting it for a long time.

He replied to it:

"@Stevegbx I have no idea what they are showing, and they have no idea what we are doing."

Well.... that doesn't change anything.

@Mr. Tissue Box: Actually, BF3 was announced by DICE sometime ago. Actually... I don't think it was announced but just confirmed to be in development.

If Battlefield 3 is out of the picture then that just leaves Theif 4, Half Life and TES right? Are there any other games that could possibly be the cover? I certainly can not think of any more.

edit:

or is BF3 not out of the picture?

Like I said twice before, announcing is NOT the same as revealing.

BF3 was announced, but not revealed.

Then again, maybe it depends on how you view it.

Well Thief 4 was also officially announced, though no information or details were given so it wasn't quite "revealed". However, it doesn't have much potential to be the cover.

@Mr. Tissue Box: Yes, yes. Sorry about the confusion between announced and revealed. The possibilites remain, but the chances are low to these games.

It could be the new TimeSplitters game by Crytek. I don't know if it was formally announced. But certainly it wasn't revealed.
"As of 17 August 2009, the project has officially been declared as on hold. In a recent interview, Crytek UK claimed that they would continue the project once there is a high industry demand for such a game." - Wikipedia article on TimeSplitters 4.

Theif 4 was already announced as of 8th of december. i went to eidos montreal for a visit last month and they were already talking to people about it so i doubt it. Half Life still cant be put out of the way by my own knowledge

Im not sure, but does the Game Informer only EVER have unannounced games on the cover of the mags? Can the devs have announced it but said nothing about it?

Just to clear it up I messaged Anrew Reiner just now if the game on GI's February cover has been announced yet. I'll tell you what he says.

I'm a bit fuzzy as to the meaning of your question, but I'll try to answer anyway:

Yes, the developers can do whatever they want with their title. If they want Game Informer to be the first place the audience sees it, they can do that. If they want to schedule a Game Informer cover but announce the game on their own, before the issue goes out, they can do that too. It all depends on which method marketing sees as the most beneficial for their overall strategy.
