How so exactly?

Issue 206 cover Gears of War 3. Page 23, "Most annoying enemies in video games"- Elder Scrolls mentioned through Will-o-the-Wisps.
Issue 207 cover Infamous 2. Page 27, "Gaming's Strangest Glitches"- Elder Scrolls mentioned through a Radiant AI glitch where people killed each other and looted their bodies for food.
Issue 208 cover Dragon Age II- Not found, but I would've sworn I've seen it in there.
Issue 209 cover Arkham City. Page 46, "My Gamerscore is 1,650 and I've Never Felt Better"- Mentioned in article griping about achievements.
Issue 210 cover Bioshock Infinite. Page 71, "Fallout: New Vegas"- Mentioned in a picture with a guy holding a sword saying the ES games are in another direction.
Issue 211 cover Resistance 3- Not found
Issue 212 cover The 30 Characters That Defined a Decade. Page 57, "Good For A Laugh"- Talks about how hilarious Sheogorath is.
Issue 213 cover Tomb Raider- 4 page spread in the back

So, out of the GI magazines that I've received since I subscribed, 6 out of the 8 have mentioned The Elder Scrolls.

Just a default icon left over.

yes and no, it's basically to prevent confusion among IP.

Yeah I figured and it doesn't mean anything in this situation. It's certainly going to be used for the game.

Thanks for this helpful post... I just wanted to say that I think you're underselling that bit of information - the only possible murkiness here is because I confused the issue for some not so good reasons (unfortunately, I often have a bit of a tin ear for interpreting disjunctions.)

I wanted to make sure that any disagreements we may have had about the meaning of a particular piece of information were fairly represented in the summary, so readers would understand why we came to a specific conclusion. It's especially helpful if someone else comes along who agrees with how you initially interpreted it - so they know we already addressed it.

http://www.invisionpower.com/products/board/ is the forum software Bethesda uses to power the forums. That's a standard logo for said software.

Bethesda is now my "home page".

I have no life.

If you want to talk about not having a life, I can beat that. Bethesda's been my home page for for, like, eight years now. ;)

Unless we misinterpreted "No", it can't be. Allow me to direct you to requirement number 3 (pulled from http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1147605-official-tes-v-speculation-thread-88/page__view__findpost__p__16774019):
  • It cannot have been announced to the public as of December 8th. Any title announced after that date is fair game.

I don't say this often, but I've never been so glad to be wrong! I would have put money on DN4ever. I'm excited again.

Here's a quote from Andrew Reiner from the latest Game Informer podcast, responding to the question "How far in advance do you have your cover stories set up?":

"On average, I'd say maybe...maybe about a year out. Eight months to a year out..."

This was probably already known, but it's good reinforcing information. If there's a TES cover/announcement coming, we can safely assume that everything they've said over the past year regarding TES and a potential cover was said with knowledge of the game.

Also, this bit is interesting (also from the podcast):

"One of the earliest that I've ever actually gotten to see a game was for when we did Bioshock Infinite, and I think we went to go see that in early August - as opposed to mid/late August - for the issue that would be hitting in early September." - Matt Helgeson

So, if they're doing the same for TES, then they may not have even gone out to the studio yet.

Keep in mind - interviews with multiple developers usually means a trip out to the studio. I can't see them going out to the studio for just the Elder Scrolls retrospective.

EDIT (2) : They also jokingly referenced a "co-op Elder Scrolls game" in a list of pre-planned cover stories that fell through. Not sure what to make of that.

It's probably done through a booking system and you have to book a year out at least.

One thing to take note that Skyrim trade mark is a Pseudo Mark,

Ah, I thought there was some strange minutia that revealed something new... then for those who are new, it should also be important to note that many games will have their applications for trademark sent after their announcement, and that these marks were initially filed less than a month after another company (a wifi company in Florida) filed for a trademark called Skyrim. There is perhaps more weight behind these marks being filed as protection of the IP than in preparation for a game. Bethesda has often, and recently, filed for their marks only after an announcement has been made. This includes Zenimax acquisitions and the DLC for FONV.

Im sure they don't. Most people that play games don't read the books based on the games that they play. Only the super hardcoe guys do. Myself included of course.

It's not important. Pseudo marks are just to accommodate alternative or non-standard marks. These are not the droids you're looking for. :ninja:

I do appreciate the effort in educating newcomers, though. :)

I was reading an article on G4's site, and i came across this...

"Next to Kingdom Hearts 3, there is a game that everyone keeps asking for: Star Wars: Battlefront 3."
found http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/709074/gaming-wikileaks-the-biggest-leaks-in-the-video-game-world.html#ixzz17fKTvm2m

obviously Battlefront isn't an RPG, but both it and Kingdom Hearts 3 could be what Reiner was talking about

--edit-- 'nother double, sorry guys

I have been following the Star Wars Battlefront III speculation for quite a while now because I am interested in that game as well. From what I understand, the game is not with any particular studio right now and its status is up in the air. If it were to be revealed at the VGA's it would have already been announced that a new world priemere Star Wars game would show up. LucasArts is not known to be tight-lipped when it comes to revealing their games. We would have heard something by now as evidence.

As for Kingdom Hearts 3, I don't think it will be the cover either. I don't see the reader base of GI begging for a new Kingdom Hearts. I know a lot of people want it, but certainly not to the degree that we want ES:V.

However, I could be totally wrong about this, who knows? If McNamara says people have wanted more info on this game since 4ever, then that makes me excited to see what it is. As long as its not Uncharted 3, because I don't own a PS3. Or another Bioware game...

Thanks for the insight here, because I was a bit concerned about SWBIII... although it is still only a "good guess" that it isn't, frankly I have never played a Battlefront game so I haven't followed a lick of speculation on it.

These are not the droids we're looking for. Move along, move along.

Personally, as much as I'd love to see Battlefront III, I just don't see it happening. Unless LucasArts decided to be really secretive about it and give the rights to another company without letting anyone know about it.

Another BioWare game? I can't think of a game that people have been "begging for 4ever" that BioWare could possibly be making. Unless McNamara thinks less than 6 months could count as "forever".

Kingdom Hearts 3? Maybe, I don't know. I have some friends who have played the previous games, but I wasn't aware people have been begging for a sequel. Again, I have no idea.

To me, TESV seems the most likely option, but hopes could be dashed...again...

Yea, there's just no way the game is ready to be shown at all. I doubt its even still being worked on. If anybody is doing it, it would be Crytek UK, which is currently finishing up Crysis 2 and is most likely attempting to make a new Timesplitters after that.

Is it completly a no no to mention that 2 sources of good info on future TES games have both said almost unequivocally that TESV is in production ? After all I am not the one saying it I am just asking a question.

I don't think will be hearing Kingdom Hearts 3 for a while, if at all cause if I remember right one of the key voice actors died. I'll double check with my friend who I think is doing voice work for it and see what he can say about it's status.

I think ES:V is the best chance going on, not 100% but very close. If they want it out like Todd has said, it'll need to be announce in a couple of months anyway which amounts to soon.

no, it's ok, but if it's the euro-gamer denmark source talking about how they talked to someone with documentation in hand, we have been there and done that...

Go ahead and post em, but I would put money on it that we've seen it already.

I am not looking to post new sources ....that would just have the devs dropping warnings on me, as I cannot prove anything myself and none of it is a direct quote from bethesda or any of their spokesmen, It is and will still be seen as speculation up until such a time as those 2 criteria are met, I was truly wondering if that statement alone would get me warned is all, as it is enough for me to believe based on the feelings of those 2 sources, of the accuracy of the statements made to them and the strength of the conviction that their own sources were up to snuff...... This is just idle speculation thru and thru lol

They aren't going to go after you for posting them, dude. If they're going to go after anyone, it would be the "sources."

But unless your "sources" are Bethesda employees, I don't think Bethesda would even bat an eyelash.
