Official TESV Speculation Thread #75

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 11:23 pm

Yay, and then the Key thing you have to ask is if they are outsourcing art to there other studios...or letting Tango handle it haha.

This is all complete rubbish. That concept art could also go with just about every other fantasy-themed game in existence. Beside that, there's no way BGS would have farmed out their bread-and-butter series.

If you mind stretching it a little, the Infernal City novels(s) makes the addition of foreign and alien races to Tamriel plausible... if the novel(s) do in fact become canon. The races might not be playable races, but could appear as NPC's or monsters.

fir the last [NUMMIT] time, the novels are cannon. I don't understand were the "their not cannon" idea came from

Umbra came from the south, no? Thras is to the south-west of Tamriel apparently, once the realm of the Sload race:

Umbra came from south-east of argonia. Thras is west of Tamriel, pretty much on the same latitude as anvil. http://www.imperial-library.info/sites/default/files/gallery_files/politicalmapqb8.jpg

---> Could Umbriel be one of the islands that wasn't sunk?

the isnlands are resurfacing anyway, and due to the above explanation I doubt it.

--->Or an island that the Sload managed to save by Necromancy (Umbra does have necromancy elements to it, soul stealing and all that)

---> The corpulent fellow in the background, to the right, made me think "Sload" pretty quickly.

I must agree here. reasonably, it could just be a fat zombie monster, but I hope its a sload necromancer after lyposuction.

Thank God!

Whew... all this time, glad the wait is over.

Thanks "DoNotTrustThisMan" my trust in you and your inside source will get me through the long and empty days until before Christmas.

Bless you, and thank you again, so much, for your contribution and insight... as it is most welcome.

On a serious note, that concept art is exciting, but unlikely that Tango would be working for BGS before the purchase... so that shouldn't have any bearing on the "secret" game, though it may be something relative to the title in preproduction as we have no idea whether Tango and Arkane will simply play supporting roles to BGS IPs....

It's cool artwork, but there's no way it's for TES:V. Not unless Bethesda's current game is a new IP, and Tango was hired to begin production on TES:V with the possibility of the core BGS team joining in with them once their current game is released. There's a higher probability that TES:V was announced yesterday and this entire forum missed it, than this being concept art for TES:V.

Where did I accuse you of definitively pronouncing it TES:V? While you did not claim the concept art WAS TES:V, you were far from disclaiming otherwise. In this thread, plausibility has a rather ugly way of giving misinformation longevity...the April fools article anyone?

My response was also to the discussion in general, not just to your post, so I apologize if replying to your post was construed as a personal attack.

I though that it was quite clearly explained in the book where the island came from

Waiting for Elder Scrolls games is so hard.
I mean... seriously, it's not like waiting for a game. It's like waiting for a game.....

This forum will have it's day in the sun though. One day.
Anyway to make this post worthwile i'm going to contribute, something about game informer... a few weeks back they were twittering "bethesda may be making elder scrolls mmo". Which to me rules out any possibility of them being in on bethesda's secret project. I dunno, it just looked so dumb on the twitter page. I thought they knew their gamey stuff.

Game Informer does know their "gamey" stuff. That's why them posting that rumor was so fishy to me. I think they posted that article on purpose to throw people off. It was calculated misdirection. I think they know all about TES V and are planning for it to be one of their upcoming covers...

http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/10/16/is-bethesda-s-next-game-an-elder-scrolls-mmo.aspx?PageIndex=2 actually says Bethesda is probably not making an MMO.

I thought the novel(s) were considered cannon. Has this not been clarified? I wasn't terribly impressed with City and if it's a "What if" scenario then it gets downgraded to tripe.

The novels are, in fact, canon already.

I like how every comment is just a complaint that there's no Elder Scrolls V yet.

Has anybody noticed that they have been talking about Elder Scrolls Mod's a lot lately? If your trying to inject longevity into a game to create hype they seem to be doing a good job about it.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much, the Bethblog has been doing the whole 'planet elder scrolls hall of fame' thing for some time now. When Beth wants to hype something, expect a tsunami of awesome, not a regular post.

A tsunami of awesome you say? Delicious...

I do expect TES:V to be hyped above and beyond previous TES titles, however I wonder what the affect will be on the fanbase of the series. The posts in this thread tend to be intelligent and sensible, I would hate for this to turn into the Fallout thread...

Then again, I wonder if the fans of "Grand Theft Post Apocalypse" would even like "Grand Theft Medieval Era."

I'm hoping that when we finally get the announcement, that it will be like what we saw for Bioshock Infinite's announcement. A fantastic Game Informer cover (or three), and lots of info, screenshots, videos ect. in the week to follow.

We will, because Todd stated that when they show it, they want to show a lot, because there is a lot of game to show...

I am hoping for mid-December, and of course that is just a best estimate but I have come to accept the waiting game, so with calm reserve I await the announcement. Somewhere between the 18th and the 24th. If not then, I expect something in March.

I don't understand the marketing strategies behind not announcing any game as soon as it is being worked on. more time for the game to spread word of mout, wich is almost always better advertsing than commercials.

Because yes, word would spread, and we'd know for sure it's coming, it's bad because
They will be rushed, and be hurried to finish faster
They'd have to finish it faster,so that people would stay interested

Since they'll have a lot to show, they should dedicate a Gameinformer issue to nothing but TESV and nothing else.

but they are pressured and rushed to release it anyway, but it doesn't matter until they set a date. there IS something called a spam filter.
