Official TESV Speculation Thread #75

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:27 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112872-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-177/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. Any claims to having insider information will be removed. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

@All the people saying that TESV will have the same amount of exposure as FONV did.

If they do this we're are pretty guaranteed a much shorter release after announcement then any other TES game. Bethesda are hardly going to keep the hype train going for 9 months.

we are guaranteed that. Pete said that the 'new project' is gong to have the shortest announce-release time of any Bethesda game.

Guys, I don't mean to be a buzz-kill or anything, but all he said was it would take a shorter time, we don't really know what he meant by that. Shorter time can range from a couple of months to a couple of days. I don't mean to be a pessimist or anything, its just that I think we shouldn't get our hopes up to high on an ambiguous term used by Todd.

December GI is out of the question. There's not even a specific game on the cover. Not that we were expecting it to be featured in next month's issue anyway.

Yep... I was wondering whether or not there would be a coming issue that would NOT feature a game on the cover...

Come on January issue...

To a certain degree I would guess you are correct. However, I really do not see Todd making the point to tell us this if it isn't going to be substantially quicker release.

If I had to guess I would say that we will see an announcement sometime in the next 3-7 months and then a release 4-6 months after that. I really do think that BS are going to really market the hell out of TESV getting people all around the world drooling for the game. I foresee a bigger marketing campaign that was done for FONV. They're going to push like crazy with the advertisemant over a shorter period of time.

Just my opinion.

At this point I hope they put off an announcement as long as possible, because as soon as we know about the game, we're gonna want it, and they might be rushed in a similar fashion to how they were rushed in Oblivion.
I want a finished game in a few years, not a empty game in a short amount of time.

yes that is what we all want. not like some other games that eventually after so much time of work and advertisemant they proved to be useless and meaningless during the gameplay

so true :shakehead:

i dont wanna play another empty world though...They said in oblivion they spent the last few weeks placing silverware ontables...What???
They should have been putting in hundreds of little secrets, such as special rings hidden behind bookshelves, secret passageways, unique items, unique lines of dialogue, etc etc etc...
I wanna play a game where I can never discover everything.....

I don't think anyone wants a rushed release, I think most people just want confirmation... and a name... and a few screenshots... and a trailer... and some gameplay... and a demo...

er...

Okay I see what you're saying, if the fanbase gets what it wants it will only want more. Perhaps the (presumably) delayed announcement is a good thing?

If the 'new project' turns out NOT to be TESV (god forbid) then I am sure I will not be the only person crying into their pillow at night. It had better be. But there's this little pessimistic voice in my head telling me not to get my hopes up too much....

I would rather have some hidden surprises than be able to pick up a useless fork. Put a cave behind a waterfall and I'll accept a fork is part of the table texture.

Waiting for Elder Scrolls games is so hard.
I mean... seriously, it's not like waiting for a game. It's like waiting for a game.....

This forum will have it's day in the sun though. One day.
Anyway to make this post worthwile i'm going to contribute, something about game informer... a few weeks back they were twittering "bethesda may be making elder scrolls mmo". Which to me rules out any possibility of them being in on bethesda's secret project. I dunno, it just looked so dumb on the twitter page. I thought they knew their gamey stuff.

I'll clarity...I wasn't saying how silverware was a waste of time, I love collecting hundreds of little spoons :) , but they said they were only starting to do that towards the end.
The last month Bethesda spends before releasing a game should be spent on two things...
-Bugfixing
-Adding Small bits of content (Not quests or new locations, but little things, like letters, unique items, secret treasures, passageways to necromancer lairs, etc.

And i just realized i'm telling Beth how to make their own game, but still...Having a city with filled shelves and tables but no real SUBSTANCE, isnt really full now is it?

Haha, that does look like it could be from ESV. Wouldn't that be funny now... If the next cover was ESV, and they included that concept art inside the magazine for ESV, and right now it's just a tease. Of course, that's nonsense... So, nevermind.

If you mind stretching it a little, the Infernal City novels(s) makes the addition of foreign and alien races to Tamriel plausible... if the novel(s) do in fact become canon. The races might not be playable races, but could appear as NPC's or monsters.

Umbra came from the south, no? Thras is to the south-west of Tamriel apparently, once the realm of the Sload race:

---> Could Umbriel be one of the islands that wasn't sunk?

--->Or an island that the Sload managed to save by Necromancy (Umbra does have necromancy elements to it, soul stealing and all that)

---> The corpulent fellow in the background, to the right, made me think "Sload" pretty quickly.

I hope that concept art is from TESV, cause its pretty darn cool and I love the art style. It looks like they would be going back to morrowind type more gritty enviornments maybe. Of course.... This is just wishful thinking lol.

that was a joke anyway most of the team wouldn't just be putting silverware on tables todd howard in a conference that they generally in the last two months or so polishing their games and they do have a lot of employees so the team does add stuff to the game while the rest of the team fixes bugs

Yay, and then the Key thing you have to ask is if they are outsourcing art to there other studios...or letting Tango handle it haha.
