Official TESV Speculation Thread #76

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:29 pm

I was half-kidding about the title. ;-)
The thing is that the phrase makes no sense at all. Survivors need to be born already otherwise they can't actually survive anything. Except childbirth. "Tomb Raider: Survivor" has a nice ring to it.
Anyway, NOT ELDER SCROLLS.

I'm going to take a guess and say that it's a cover for I am alive, though an open world tomb raider game would be amazing as is rumored to be in development, still...I want my elder scrolls.

So when do you think the next Podcast will be? Wasn't it supposed to be every two weeks?

Speaking of witch, found this on G4...why would an official site have a speculation list? To keep the hype maybe...look at what they listed hmmm.

well a more advanced comabat system where you can create you're own spells or add some kind of combos for melee combat
the world even more dynamic (bethesda always delivered a nice gaming world tbh)
the skill system make it a lil bit harder ... like running against a door is easy to get highest lvl in sneak as we speak. but on other hand its logical that you earn points by doing those things. but make a lil bit harder.
questing more cut scenes. sometimes i lost the epic feel :) althought the story always intrested me but it can be worked out better to call up those emotions in my eyes.
spoundtrack: dont change its epic! :D

overall i have full trust that bethesda will deliver a beauty of a game if it comes i hope :)

I'd say it's "more than likely" that TESV will be at E3 2011. I wouldn't take too much from that site though.

Remember last E3 how they didn't even speculate that ES5 wasn't gonna be there like they knew it wasn't?

This is very interesting; however, I wonder how seriously we should take it. They list Bioshock 3, when Bioshock Infinite isn't planned for release until 2012. They also list Halo 4, which, from my understanding, would be the 4th installment in a trilogy. I know these are just their best guesses, and therefor have no credibility, but I wonder how much we should look into this despite it being on an "official site."

Could very well be. There is a mountain of time (for those who are waiting for it) between the announcement and the actual release.
Of course in this case it would mean that we are soon to see TESV as there wouldn't be such a long time in between this time around, from what I understand. :celebration:

Well, this is from July...and let's remember that these are the games they think will be announced sometime between now and E3 or announced at E3.
Bioshock 3 probably =Bioshock Infinet, Assassins Creed:Brother Hood might or might not be Assassins Creed 3. MW:3 could be the one Sledge Hammer is working on, we should translate this titles to what we know about. Also, Bioshock Infinite being shown at E3 makes perfect sense as it's hype level will need to be very high.

Wow, guys, talk about digging up old news. I remember when we were speculating about that very same page when it first came out in July. :brokencomputer:

I seriously hope they announce it before the GDC (which is in January, right?). That way, they can show off their new technology. However, January is generally a big month for game announcements, and Bethesda always tries to make sure their announcement will have all the attention. Still, I'm really hoping for that, just because it's soon.

Ah, forgive me everyone, for I had not looked at the date of the material. I assumed any new information would be, well, new. If the article was from July then I would have interpreted it better, but I read the article knowing what I do now, not what I did several months ago.

I was't singling you out, my post was directed at everyone that was talking about the article. I guess I just used your post as an example.

You are correct in saying that they are just guesses at future titles. I think their intention when writing that article was basically to say that they want announcements for sequels, or additions to an already existing franchise. This adds to my complaints about how there are more sequels than brand new titles these days.

Considering they have no game to show at GDC yet that is an internal Bethesda game that sounds likely. Though GDC is in Feburary actually, and don't forget that even if they don't announce it by then will have Two Worlds 2 to keep us occupied till then, cause frankly TW2 looks amazing from what I have seen of it. Also take note GDC 2011 it's the 25th anniversary and guess what..also the 25th anniversary of Bethesda :hubbahubba:

Somehow, I get the feeling that if a TESV announcement doesn't happen by then, it would just be a discount on Oblivion DLC as usual.

That would be logical, I think that's safe to assume for the moment.

Yup, no hard feelings :D

And as for your complaints on there being too many sequels, I must agree with you... to an extent. This article is predicting what will be shown, and predicting new IPs isn't exactly easy without insider info, especially when the list was drawn up as early as it was. Who knows? New games could be unveiled that will completely take us by surprise.

Let us hope that 2011 is the year that pushes old franchises to their limits and new franchises past those boundaries.

I couldnt help myself from reading your post in the voice of Leonard Nimoy :P
But I agree. An announcement before Oblivion turns 5 would make sence, unless they want the anouncement to coincide with some other significant date. eg : announcing the 5th game on the 5th of the 5th or something, or maybe a date that will have some significance in-universe, like the beginning date (in the gregorian calender equivilant) of the fourth era? i dunno..

I think when it comes, everyone will know it. It will be a moment of majestic glory to the Elder Scrolls series and within a matter of minutes will be on just about every game website in the western world.
January makes a lot of sense imo. As i've said, October - December (christmas sales) was Fallout New Vegas time, and it's worked by the sounds of it. 5 million copies sold i heard.

5 million copies shipped, which is pretty different. We'll probably never be told how many copies they actually sold to gamers out there, but we know that they've already shipped 5 million to stores.

Just to let everybody know I did some digging and found that Bethesda was founded Date , Jan. 1, 1986 officially.
So that means their 25th anniversary is coming up very soon, this is my source.
http://www.giantbomb.com/bethesda-softworks/65-786/

So it could be announced Jan 1st, and first gameplay footage on the birthday of oblivion, such as a hype trailer for e3 footage and then they still have about 4 months till E3.

Didn't you already bring this up a few weeks ago? And like I said back then, I don't think they're waiting for their anniversary to announce it. If they are, great, but I don't see any reason for them to be doing so. Plus their being founded on Janurary 1st seems a little odd to me, as if Giantbomb couldn't find the actual month and day and just put it as January 1st, like how some gaming websites put the release of a game they only know the exact month it will be released in at the very end of the month.
