Official TESV Speculation Thread #76

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:15 am

There is NO OFFICIAL information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TES V will be released. This is where you post any new information about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.

It is also where you post your theories of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumors or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when -- or if -- it is going to be released. It is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be, or any other subject of that type; they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1112872-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-177/. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. Any claims to having insider information will be removed. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, so please read them.

Note that Bethesda Game Studios is NOT working on Fallout: New Vegas, Rage, Brink, or Hunted: The Demon's Forge -- Nor do they develop MMOs.

As a long time lurker/occasional poster (finally joined when Oblivion was announced) of these forums, all I can say is that I hope this game is announced soon. I had a dream last night about playing TES V, which made me decide to make a post. Back to lurking!

Unless you're Uriel Septim, baby, I don't think it means anything.

I really wonder how good the graphics in Tes V are going to be.

I just bought a ps3 and the new series 9 3d 50" samsung tv and I can only imagine what TESV will look like on it when it finally comes out.

In that Eurogamer interview Todd mentioned that when you see this "unknown" game you won't even recognize it as an Xbox game or something along those lines.

I believe it has also been said that it will still be utilising the Gamebryo engine, and I assume everyone here's already all to familiar with what that means.

I've been a member of the forums since 2006 ( my first profile is blocked from making comments :sadvaultboy: ) and that entire time many of us have been day-dreaming about the next installment. For some of us Oblivion was a very pretty game with less under the hood than we had hoped. That being said I do like graphics, and rest assured, I'll be updating my system as well for this game! There are few purchases more exciting than a nice new display!

Well, I just went on the GI website and asked Reiner about putting the "Bethesda doesn't make MMOs" blog post up somewhere visible, maybe clear all that up for people. I mean, when it's announced and is not an MMO it'll all be moot, but it does get annoying to see someone new come on every week or two and go "o hey so es5 gunna be an mmo"

The worst part is when they assume we haven't heard anything at all since 2006 and they come on here and say, "so bad news, guys, this article says TES:V is going to be an MMO" when it's a completely false rumor from 2008. :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer:

Yeah, but if someone big at GI were to publicly refute it while they would still assume that our 76 threads of speculation didn't involve ever seeing any of the articles about it at least they wouldn't be saying that the big news they somehow think we haven't already heard is something false.

76 threads already? Damn.

I bet they'll announce TES V when we reach the 100th speculation thread :P

What we're not familiar with are the changes produced by two years of working on the engine.

Todd Howard said in the EGM interview that they revamped the rendering, AI, scripting system, interface, animations, and some other things. So it's a bit more specific.

Elder Scrolls games are always a full notch more advanced in terms of graphics from their predecessor. Even my current Oblivion install looks vastly improved from the original merely by using the largest textures available, additional viewable objects, a few other odds and ends, and the tweak guide. Imagine what the developers will be able to achieve by revamping the engine itself. My current rigs hardware is getting less impressive by the day, but it's able to display a gorgeous game world. With today's modern cards, and a revamped game engine I'm sure it'll be fantastic.

Just wanted to say, I'm probably wrong about that thing back on thread #75, and while I don't really appreciate being called a 'pathogen' <_< I shouldn't have posted that second thing.

Although I'm still not going to accept that there is 'no chance' that they are making an MMO - you could change my mind if you gave me more sources, but in the one you gave he actually said that there was 'a chance', and that one of their divisions does make MMOs. Now I expect the flaming for using quotes out of context, but this isn't me trying to prove my point, it's me telling you why I see it in that way.

And you saying that it wasn't speculation? It did stem from my speculation, but you argued.

So, that's me out. Remember - I'm not trying to change your views, I'm just telling you mine :)

You're entitled to your opinion, but in this realm of "chance" we'd also expect to fall with equal probability the "chance" of mutant alien toads with lasers being a playable race in TES:V.

To clarify, by 'their' I mean Zenimax in general, which I'm pretty sure he does say, and I'm pretty sure he says that they're working on a secret project. Secret from who is the question.

And another thing I forgot to mention - I don't think that even if they did do an MMO, it would overtake the series in general. Just that there's a chance that an MMO might come out.

Hence the tin foil hat ;)

You must be confused. Here are the quotes you should be paying attention to:

"Both Todd and I have said repeatedly that, of course, we’re going to do another Elder Scrolls game."

“I guess there’s a chance.” (of a MMO)

"To be clear, Todd and his team do not make MMOs, for any franchise, at all."

"We have another division "ZeniMax Online Studios" which is lead by Matt Firor, and they are working on an MMO."

Now what are you not understanding here? I've taken the liberty of what you should be understanding in all caps:

BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS DOES NOT MAKE MMOS

ZENIMAX ONLINE DOES MAKE MMOS

BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS AND ZENIMAX ONLINE ARE NOT THE SAME DEVELOPER

TODD SAID THERE WAS A CHANCE FOR AN MMO, BUT BECAUSE HIS TEAM DOES NOT MAKE MMOS, SUCH AN MMO COULD ONLY COME FROM ZENIMAX ONLINE

THE MMO WOULD BE PUBLISHED BY BETHESDA SOFTWORKS, BUT THEY ARE NOT THE SAME ENTITY AS BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS

TES V CANNOT BE AN MMO UNLESS ZENIMAX ONLINE IS MAKING IT, BECAUSE, AS ALREADY SAID, BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS DOES NOT MAKE MMOS

*Phew* Now, after having read that, if you say "Bethesda could be making an MMO," it will show that you didn't actually read a word I just said because everything there renders your argument invalid. Bethesda Softworks is a publisher and could not make it and Bethesda Game Studios has already said they do not make MMOs. The ONLY way you can be right is if Bethesda has been lying to us, which is extremely unlikely.

For future reference, I suggest adding this to the OP, who knows; it might help.

Also, is it sad I had a dream about TES V the other day? All I can remember is that it was anounced and released on the same day, and that it took place in high-rock. Maybe it's beth's new marketing stratergy, advertising their game in peoples dreams?

It is in the OP... :deal:

You'd be surprised how many people say that in this thread, while I have personally never had such dreams, that may be attributed to the fact that I rarely dream. Maybe all you guys who dream about TES are related to Uriel or something.

And guys, please lets stop this whole MMO talk, its not so much that there's a thread for this topic or the million reasons Antibody outlined, for me I don't like going into the only important thread (IMO) on this forum to read about the possibility of an MMO. I personally don't like it and I know other's don't either, so just take it somewhere else, please?

Normally I would be inclined to say it's possible but you have to remember that this blog post was in direct response to the huge out-crying over the misquoting of Todd. I doubt they'd lie about something so big, it would mean a lot of bad press when their lie was exposed.

I hope you guys all realize most of the talk about MMOs comes from those who are certain the next game will not be an MMO.

Allow me to clarify: Each time someone says "Well it could be an MMO" it seems like there are three pages following that saying "IT WILL NOT BE AN MMO! GRRR!!!"

Maybe we should all (myself included) stop yelling about the game not being an MMO, this may just add to the rumors about the game being an MMO.

No need to get your underwear in a bunch, everyone. No matter how large you make your text, no matter how loud you scream at your monitor, people are going to be saying the exact same thing in the next week or two. You can't expect everyone to have read one blog post from a year ago, or to have paid attention to every single word Bethesda says.
