Official TESV Speculation Thread #77

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:55 am

Does anyone else have the reflex to squint due to the glare from the Oblivion screenshots?

And is it just nostalgia goggles, but does that screen of Morrowind look better than those of Oblivion?

I always did wonder why the oblivion screens always gave off those weird, overly-clean glare. If anyone knows then message me, I'd rather not derail this thread further than it already has. (hint hint)

Let's not forget March 20, 2011, specifically. If that day comes and goes without a TES V announcement, I just might have to open an Oblivion gate in front of Bethesda's workplace. :obliviongate: Fifth birthday, Bethesda, fifth birthday... :P

I really don't want to see an Infernal City game. It would not be very good. Much of it would be like watching a movie that seems way too long and you can control what they are doing.

Whatever, we all know they wont make one.

well bethesda should continue the adventure series because it has more of a "action-adventure" feeling compared to the elder scroll chapter series, bethesda should still reconsider of developing the project they canceled after redguard(eye of argonia). These games i wish for bethesda to make in the near future The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Eye of Argonia and TESV, i mean redguards story was great!

Well as much as I want to see a new TESA game, maybe as their 3DS debut, that is really a topic that merits a whole thread to itself.

"As their 3DS debut" sounds a bit too confident. Has there ever even been a Beth game on any Nintendo system?

...

Well? Has there?

That's what I just said. "Debut." I'm not saying it'll happen, I'm saying that if they wanted to get themselves on a Nintendo market, they could make it play like the OoT remake and put it on the 3DS. But that's not TESV.

I think you misunderstood what I meant in my post. I was doubting that they would make a game on the 3DS because of a particular pattern I noticed. Because the 3DS is a new system, I assumed you meant that they would want to get in on the new system. I was just saying that they probably will not; if they do decide to make a TESA for the 3DS that would be unexpected, considering their history with Nintendo (or rather lack thereof).

Oh, I dug up this interview from like 09' btw
give it a read folks
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=159095

I just finished rereading that interview and the last question stood out to me...

Question: Are there any additional comments or statements you would like to say for the readers of this article?

Todd Howard: Just a big thanks for everyone who has stuck with our games for so long. We’re incredibly lucky to make games we’d love to play and have them find such a large and great audience. Thanks again!

In the first Bethesda podcast, when asked about Bethesda's secret project, didn't Todd say, "It's the game everybody in the team really wants to play."

I know we are all basically certain that TES V is Bethesda's next game, but this, to me, confirms it. It's the extra one percent. The icing on the cake. My hunch is that Todd purposely used the same phrase in the podcast that he did in the Planet Elder Scrolls interview as a hint to us all that TES V is indeed their next game...

As said thousands of times before in this thread:
They'd like to play it, we'd certainly like to play it - even people outside this forum would probably like to play it if they heard of it ---- why wouldn't they make it !?

So yes, it kinda confirms it :)

I like the idea of this but your really grasping at straws here neither of the times he said that have any context to conclude he was talking about The Elder Scrolls. But who knows, maybe your completely right and solved the puzzle. :)

I don't know... maybe everyone at Bethesda secretly prefers IHRA Drag Racing over TES and that's their new game, but I rather doubt it. Sounds like they're making TES to me :)

No, now that we know. We NEED an announcement. We solved the puzzle, we need a reward.

Unless Bethesda gives us a nice xmas gift. I don't think there will be any announcement until march.

Haha, so the puzzle was:

Todd said he was glad that they were able to make games they wanted to play themselves, and during an interview a year earlier in reference so making TES games for 15 years he stated that he was glad that they were able to make games they wanted to play themselves... therefore the game they are making must be TESV?!? Hahaha

Since I don't see much of a puzzle here and I don't see anything more than a game developer stating they like their games, I don't thing we should be getting any reward.

Actually, no that you mention it, there are no pieces for us to solve. Beth has been quiet, too quiet.

AHA! They must be working on TESV, if they weren't we would have at least heard something!

IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!

...reward time?

It's definitely true that I'm grasping at straws, but I wouldn't say that I have no context to conclude that Todd was talking about The Elder Scrolls. The first time he said it was during an interview with Planet Elder Scrolls, the topic of which was the Elder Scrolls franchise...

I'm 99.9% sure no I'm 100% sure that they are currently working on TESV (I have no actual proof just different theories that they are working on TESV but the signs are there just in case a random employee reads this). The Elder Scrolls Series is Bethesda's holy grail not the Fallout series, not any of the other games that they are the publisher that will be released next year. Why wouldn't they want to make TESV I mean Oblivion is the best RPG ever made, Oblivion crushes its competions cold even when compared to Fallout 3 its no contest due to the extreme replay value that you get with Oblivion and probably the best 1st person roleplaying view that you get. 90 Employees don't sit on their thumbs and play video games all day trust me they brainstorm and come up with hopefully better video games.

Morrowind came out in 2002, Oblivion came out in 2006 and the next game TESV ?????? its been 4 yrs since Oblivion and assuming after Oblivion that the majority of BGS was working on Fallout 3 which came out in 2008. TESV could be announced at the beginning of next year with a release date of late 2011 early 2012. I think the only reason it hasn't been announced is that Bethesda probably thinks that if they announce the game right now it wouldn't get as much attention as a game informer magazine cover. I hate to be the barer of bad news but if Bethesda announced it tommorrow it wouldn't go under the rader in fact everybody would be talking about it thats how big the company is and how awesome the Elder Scrolls games are because of Oblivion and Morrowind. Trust me if they announced it tommorrow I would be jumping for joy and I probably wouldn't stop celebrating for a week. I know some people are probably going to be Skeptical when Bethesda eventually announces TESV because of New Vegas well I'll tell you right now that Bethesda won't make that mistake twice trust me on that.

Its just a matter of time all we need to do is be patient.

I think all of us will know officially when they create the TESV Forum on the site. When we log on and see it above the Oblivion forum then we will truely know that its here.
