Official TESV Speculation Thread #77

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:17 am

If you want, I'll go over to the Mario Party forums and ask them. They won't know what I'm talking about. But...

different thread :P

But this is a TEV S speculatin' 'n' crap thread. The engine is the most important part of a game and deserves speculatin'.

True, but, according to the first post, this is speculation about the release date, nothing else.

But just to satiate your speculatin' mind... one of the interviews said that they were rebuilding the gamebryo engine for the next big game. Since most of us assume that's TESV, we can also assume that the engine will be a newly refurbished Gambryo one.

And the sub-heading of the thread is "And let there be speculation. Read the first post." --- can't see why this is such a problem :P

Gamebryo may be old, but its the only engine that can do what Bethesda is known for.

I REALLY hate to side with Potter on this one, and I don't, but just to be the Devil's advocate...

If we were just posting about the release date there wouldn't be 77 threads. Just saying, there has been a lot more than just talk about the release date. We can barely stay on topic for a page without a mod giving us a dirty look, the off-topicness keeps this thread alive. Additionally, I can see how the thread's name could confuse people. If people want to talk about TESV and they stumble upon the "Official TESV Speculation Thread" they will post here and read the rules later. I think we've all made that mistake before. :/

Yes, that's why I edited to go ahead and give the answer. The first sentence is quite clear about the expectations though. :shrugs:

So as to keep in line with Moderator directives... I believe the game announcement, though "ready to show", is being delayed to avoid the dreaded release date delay. I remember when Oblivion was delayed. People were going crazy around here. Not unlike now, with no word confirming the obviously in development TESV.

I'd much rather they announce the game now and end up having to delay the release date later. I can't wait any longer. I need to hear and see something related to TES V. An announcement with a trailer would be more than enough to hold me over until the game is released. Heck, I'd be happy with just a few screenshots. I've got my fingers crossed for the SpikeTV VGAs...

Antibody has already confirmed that the next game is IHRA Drag Racing: Talking Horses

There's no semicolon there, I'm afraid. These are talking horses, who also drag race, so no semicolon is needed. :P

Perhaps Bethesda should change the name to IHRA Talking Drag Racing Horses? Either way I'm certain it will be the best game of the decade century millennium all time.

I figure that the game is a year or less out.

Now for a quick announcement, with a trailer or screenshots, placed to early...*cringes at the shadow controversy* But you said the shadows would be such and such...waaaaaa!

Not that the company cares much, but a release before game elements get solidified makes for some entertaining forums ;)

You can't call an engine "old", I mean sure you can, but that's totally meaningless about the quality of it. Latest Call of Duty games are based on the same very old quake 3 engine... An engine is constantly updated, Unreal engine is another good example, with new versions coming out, visually and technically completely different. Same should go for GameBryo, undoubtably.

Why would there be a semicolon needed? That is a colon, my friend. ; is a semicolon.

Antibody uses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muphry%27s_law attack!

Your sentence should actually be worded as "Why would a semicolon be needed?"

Scarily enough, that's about the time last night when I passed out at my computer, exhausted. The difference between our posts is that you were grammatically correcting me on one of the lesser known grammatical rules, while I was correctly you on common knowledge.

Common knowledge or not nobody likes grammar police, especially ones who fall victim to Muphry's Law. Point is, you don't make off-topic posts correcting my grammar and I wont make off-topic posts correcting yours.

It's what happened when they created the New Vegas forum (several months after the announcement but the same day as the first trailer) so I assume it will happen with TES V as well.

It should be stickied somewhere as a commemorative monument to our stubbornness.

Anyways, I think a VGAs teaser would be cool, but not particularly likely. If they did, it likely wouldn't provide any more details than the Oblivion trailer did. Man, I watched the hell out of that trailer, and I'll bet a lot of you guys did too.

It's not so much the details that I crave at the moment. I'm just eager to know what their next game is, how far along it is, and a possibly window of a release date (even a rough quarter and year prediction). After all, I want to spoil considerably less of this game than Oblivion

I would submit that there indeed should not have been 77 threads. I'm perfectly content to let the thread sit idle for weeks until new information comes to light. As I've said before, apart from the scant evidence regarding even the existence of TES:V we know even scantily less about anything else such as content or the engine. That said, however, we have perhaps more data regarding the engine than any other ancillary subject relating to TES:V - but it still isn't much.
