Official TESV Speculation Thread #78

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:58 am

I don't like the sound of "Dragon Lord" Makes me think of Onaga from Mortal Kombat Deception. He was a seriously lame addition :shakehead:

Anyway... I'm going to go out on a limb here and call shenanigans. But if it is true I'll be angry and happy at the same time. Angry at douchebags who don't understand what NDA is :deal: And try to ruin official announcements. Like I said in the other thread the employee and the guy that first "printed" this should get the axe if it is true. :gun: (why don't we have a axe emoticon?)
And I'll be happy cause TES is the best thing ever

Completely agree. That guy is either lying to the magazine or he betrayed Bethesda. He's a piece of trash in both cases.

If you had to stay anonymous for making this announcement, then you should keep your mouth shut and wait for the official announcement just like everyone else.

You know, I just realized this is even more fishy than I originally thought. It would be absolutely ridiculous if it was a "direct sequel" to Oblivion. That would render The Infernal city and it's sequel entirely pointless. They aren't even direct sequels to Oblivion. I see them as the bridge to TESV so I stand by my calling of the shenanigans.

I agree, it does seem fake, seeing though dragons don't exist in TES (due to extinction and invisibility). They still had dragon-bone armour though...

On the off chance this rumor is true... chronological order does not necessarily mean direct sequel. It could just mean that there are no intentions of making anything between the times of ESIV and ESV. Think of a timeline. WWI was the sequel to WWII, but there were some years that past before the wars began. I wouldn't be terribly upset about a direct sequel, but that kind of shoots the whole "Infernal City and the second book will bridge the gap between Oblivion and the next game" theory, doesn't it?

Direct sequel doesnt make any sense, as that breaks the series which has never had any of the games connecting in more then set on the same continant.

Other then that, yeah I would agree having the blades would maek sense (morrowind and oblivion both started with the blades activities, and daggerfall you were a 'secert agent' of the empire).

I call fake until there is actualy proof rather then 'So this guy at bethesda said ....' and I dont care if its a proper games site that reports it....still dont belive until some of value comes out.

Damn! This new rumour is spreading fast! A bunch of gaming websites that I visit already posted something related to that danish article.
Okay, I really think Bethesda should reply and confirm (or deny :cryvaultboy: ) the article. People are starting to go mad.

I don't think that this news is a breach of DNA or an evil lie. I speculate that this was an orchestrated first hint designed to build excitement. I don't know about you, but I'm exited. :D

So stuff happened while I was away? HELL YEAH!

Although I will take it with a pinch of salt. Multiple sites picking up on it means nothing, the total void of information kind of leads to each tiny fragment being picked up on. Just look at this topic :P

I don't like the sound of "Dragon Lord". It just sounds lame. Maybe they should think of a better name like "M'rlkds'fd'h" or something like that. Hell, even "Rawr" sounds a better name.

We don't need all this information. WE NEED AN ANNOUNCEMENT!!

edit: holy [censored], there was another post in the very beginning of this page that started with the very same words

Maybe they meant Lord Dagon.
Dragon Lord would be a stupid name to choose and Bethesda knows it, it sounds a lot like Lord Dagon, so if there were another entity called Dragon Lord, people would mistaken it with Dagon...blah... blah.... blah. You guys know what I mean.

Hopefully they did not. Dagon was lame in Oblivion, we already killed him and we were told the gates of Oblivion would never re-open. That means that Lord Dagon can NOT return, unless there is a VERY powerful mage somewhere in Tamriel.

Yeah it could be a sloppy translation. Lord Dagon -> Dagon Lord -> Dragon Lord

Though that's probably just a reference to Oblivion, I doubt Bethesda would bring back Dagon again for TES V.

I was expecting the official announcement of TES V in December and it looks like that may come true.

I'm not buying it really. Seems like the writer of the article likes to keep it extremely vague to the point of not really telling us anything we didn't already know. BGS is currently making a game, yes we know this, and the odds are that it is an Elder Scrolls game, at least I think so.

"there's some fantsy-ish words like Dragon Lord, something about Blades"

It looks to me like he's just trying to toss in words that might fit, and are vague enough that they will be seen when actual info comes from ESV, and then that might somehow validate the article.

It really reminds me of about two weeks before Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword was announced at E3 there was a rumor that emerged from some Japanese gaming magazine saying they found official doc's or something. But they went on to point out very many specific details about the game, and when the game was actually announced none of it was true. In fact everything was almost the exact opposite of what he said.

Another thing that gets me is when he says it's going to be a direct sequel to Oblivion. It almost reminds me of when people ask "When is Oblivion 2 coming out". One thing that I've noticed about Bethesda and the Elder Scrolls series is that they don't like to make +1 games or direct sequels. I think it's going to be just as much of a sequel to Oblivion as Oblivion was to Morrowind. It takes place years after, and in a different area. More of a continuation of the series, rather than a sequel.

There are pretty powerful mages on Summerset Isle, I hear...

I think that, this Bethesda developer who provided the info to the editor was talking something like "So TESV will be set x years after the defeat of Lord Dagon..."
And then the editor understood it wrong, and they mentioned The Blades, so it sounds like he got one right and not the other one.

I find it curious that Game Informer has yet to regurgitate this story. They've had no qualms with reproducing EuroGamer stories before and the story is obviously huge with dozens of sites picking up on it. So perhaps either they know otherwise or have sources that say it's not necessarily accurate.

Or they could be slow.

I don't really want to see a direct sequel to Oblivion. But if thats the route they take, I'm guessing it's going to involve Titus Mede's conquest of cyrodiil and attempt to form a new empire.
