Official TESV Speculation Thread #79

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 9:24 am

I'm sorry to inform you but your princess is in another castle. By that I mean the "proof" you linked to is a "rumor." End of story.

Would you like me to define what a rumor is for you Etelgis?

Isn't this what this thread is for? Rumor or not its the first news we have heard that is new for sometime and right before the VGA and black friday

secondly its not a fabricated rumor in that it has no source at all, this has some weight to it.

So we'll each just need to go with what our hearts tell us.

Believe what you want, but as far as my tone here in the forum I am intentionally taking a restrained stance in order to maintain the peace. Once TES:V becomes definitive, then we can let the chaos ensue. :P

I'm calling it. I think the game will be called The Elder Scrolls V: Akavir.

It just seems right with the mentioning of the "Dragon Lord," and Akavir being called Dragon Land.

Rofl. While I agree its all speculation somehow I think that websites like Eurogamer and IGN reporting to have spoken to someone from Bethesda is a tad better then someone trolling a website.

Just me tho...

Even if it just is speculation it makes me believe in a brighter future!
Fallout 3 was great but it seriously made me really sad seeing beth creating that instead of elders scrolls 5.
even if it is a rumor it awakens fans that earlier have been silent, showing beth that the elders scrolls series still has supporters that
strongly long for the next game in the series.
it shows them that creating the next game is an investment for the company that pays.
lets just hope they are inspired enough to make the next game great!

Why set the game 200 years in the future then? Akavir is a mysterious place as it is.

Edit: Shouldn't have responded, i don't take his reasoning seriously.

This isn't about what this thread is or isn't for, this is about Etelgis thinking this rumor is the proof (two very different words) he needs to prove me wrong or whatever he thinks he's doing.

I think it's too late to hold the chaos back if almost every major games journalist on the internet is already chomping at the bit with this story. And if you get technical, TESV has been definitive for quite some time, just a matter of when. So how about some unbridled hedonism?

I don't think we will see Akavir anytime soon... there is still much to explore in Tamriel. As for Dragon Lord, I think they mistaken it with Lord Dagon.

Wow at Gamespot article, the comments are flooding.

*facepalm* So all of this TES:IV Skyrim stuff is bogus? (or at least unproven)

I thought searching "The Elder Scrolls" and clicking on News (in Google) every other day would pay off, eventually. Lol.

What's your guys' (and girls') opinion on that whole thing. Do you speculate the next game will take place directly after Oblivion, or will it be farther in the future like the books suggest?

Assuming the rumors are true. (If it's unconfirmed I'm not buying it)

The "Dragon Lord" is Akatosh, most likely. If not then it's the Akaviri Tiger-Dragon, but I'd put more money on Akatosh since he's in every Tamrielic religion as the "Dragon" and he's the "Lord" of all of the other gods.

Lol

If this source is a voice actor, then i'm looking forward to listening to their botched dialogue.

g4 finally picked up the rumor, now all we have to wait for is GameTrailers and if they don't put anything up about it it makes me wonder...

Sure, he has a baseless claim and think's its true...but that doesn't mean you have to kill the speculation on the rumor for it.

As for that, instead of Akavir it seems to fit my hypothesis about the Blades waiting in the wings until they get to their satisfaction another Dragonborn (possibly Dragon Lord mistranslated but we can't tell that) before either giving support to the Medes or to somebody else. But even so, I think that, at least, really is too early to call.

I'm going to guess someone originally said "Lord Dagon," as in... well, lord Dagon. This was then misunderstood by someone unfamiliar with the lore to be "Lord Dragon," which was then rephrased as "Dragon Lord." If "Dragon Lord" was correct, then I have to have a talk with Beth. If "Dragon Land" is what they meant, then I cannot wait for a game featuring the invasion of the Akavir. I loved katanas... so very very much...

Edited- One thing I should add is the Eurogamer interview that Todd did was before Eurogamer put up the rumor on TESV earlier today

I'd say it's TESV: Skyrim, set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis and Lord Dagon's fall (that should explain Dragon Lord).
This direct sequel confused everyone, it only means it is not an spin-off or a canon spin-off like FNV.

Yeah, I remember when Oblivion's plot was still unknown everyone speculated these intricate plots involving an undead Queen Potema and whatnot. With that behind us, I think it'd be best to wait quite some time for plot speculation and stick to the basics until this particular discussion runs its course at least. Although a lot of the ideas regarding it here actually sound pretty good, and some very likely.

Or the Dragon Lord could be the obvious: Akatosh.

The dragon lord could be ysmir the Nordic version of Talos but thats still just rumor until proven true.

That's what I was thinking.

Mhm, I read the books and scoured the Imperial Library for god-knows-how-long looking for clues or hints to TES:V. I have a feeling that once it comes it's going to be like a big slap on the face like: "Ohhhhhh..." They always leave clues.

But anyway, I know that it means a sequel (I read the article a little wrong), but this just seems too fishy. If Bethesda was announcing it, why not put it on their blog? Why not put it on the official Elder Scrolls site? Why not at least give some official information?

I mean, companies & groups aren't big-bad-mysterious entities who don't want you to know about anything. Do you know how much hype an announcement would bring? I'm not putting my money on this being real, but I'm not completely doubting it either because somebody (like a voice actor) could have said something. Leaks sometimes happen that way, too.

Question:
How far have the game come when they start recording the voice actors? Is that something they do early or late when they have made most of the things in the game?

I'm not, you're the one interpreting my comments as such. I never said "this is all a rumor lets stop speculating guys," did I? No, I'm saying that this is, according to the dictionary, a rumor, and therefore cannot be used as proof. That's all. Please stop putting words in my mouth.

It's basically the last thing. After VO recording they implement it in game and start polishing, getting rid of bugs, tweaking, etc.

If this is after infernal city, I'm guessing it'll be the akaviri invasion angle. They quickly overtake Morrowind given how weak it is already. They have the nords to the west who obviously won't stand for further incursions on their territory(Possibly allying with the dunmer given their relationships in IC). Both sides fight, with some unknown hero with unknown stars getting involved supporting the cause in missions that only he/she as the hero can do. Culminating in dramatic battle with Ka po tun tiger-dragon to satisfy the console crowd, and some vague statement about how the future is uncertain. Some expansions pop up, forumites complain about the usual which is better, why did they change this, etc. We start getting threads asking when Elder Scrolls VI is coming about a week after V comes out. The usual.

That being said, should be a fun couple of months at release(or longer, who knows)

I think whether this is true or false or somewhere in between, I bet Gstaff, Pete and everyone else is now damn impatient for their Thanksgiving day off. I'd imagine their PM boxes are so uncomfortably full by now with tasteless and futile requests for information. Have fun guys.
