Official TESV Speculation Thread #79

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 12:33 am

I feel sad for all those people getting excited at this rumour as it was a real announcement. Their hearts will shatter once they know it's not what they are thinking. Unless Bethesda give us the real deal!

Hah twitter is funny to see people's reaction to this.

It's basically the last thing. After VO recording they implement it in game and start polishing, getting rid of bugs, tweaking, etc.

So we are looking at a 2011 release? :hubbahubba:

Yup, definately. The game is "pretty far along" according to Todd, and there is a lot to show. And the time between announcement and release will be the shortest than any other Bethesda's game ever. So I highly doubt it will come out in 2012.

Man, this is the proof we've been looking for... I'm sure they know something but not allowed to tell yet. I bet it will be announced this weekend

Given the status of Eurogamer as a major video game magazine, the timing ( the week of Thanksgiving) and how quickly this rumor spread, I think this was a calculated leak from Bethesda.

That does not mean the leak contains all accurate information. I think the bit about voice acting being done currently is probably likely true, however much of it could be various hoo-hah to get the press buzzing. And boy... has there been a lot of buzzing.

So much buzzing I think the internet turned into a land of bees with lots of bees that are being bees and buzzing around like bees that buzzzzzz. BUZZZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ and bees have cute antennae! They are also fuzzy.

*ahem*

If this were an intentional leak, this could serve as a prelude to a bigger event. Preheating the oven before popping in the main course to let it bake, sort of speak.

I speculate along with many others here that that bigger event I am alluding to is the world premier reveal of TESV.

Here is why I think it is intentional, aside from the obvious buzz-generating success this has riled up (and lots of cute fuzzy figurative internet bees with cute antennae flying around), I think it is extremely unlikely that an editor of Eurogamer just so happened to sit by a couple Bethesda employees on a plane trip. I also think it is extremely unlikely that this editor conjured up this story out of thin air, for if that were the case it would've been likely that this editor got fired.

The rumour says it'll be a chronological sequel, not a direct sequel.

You guys think Gstaff or someone will make an appearance in the forums this afternoon, telling us what's up?

I'm sure they're getting a lot of emails, tweets, etc. regarding this leak. Maybe they'll show up to clarify some things...or maybe they'll just say "what the hell" and announce it already since this piece of information has spread like wild fire.

The Eurogamer article does make sense and earns a bit of credibility. It says that TES V will be a direct sequel. If we remember the novel leak, TES V would take place 200 years after the events of Oblivion which confirms that TES V is a follow up or sequel. As mentioned before Todd's current project is pretty far along, and according to the Eurogamer article about TES V they are doing the voice acting for characters in the current weeks, this could tell us that the game is pretty far along. Now Todd also says in the Eurogamer Interview "I have a sense but we're not ready even to talk about [the timing of the announcement], because it might change. I don't want to disappoint people." This is my opinion but because he didn't "want to disappoint people" and "because it might change" points to a TES V, Oblivion was meant for a fall 2005 release but got pushed to 2006. So it makes sense for them to take their time and not rush the game. If anyone saw the making of Oblivion, they kinda rush at the end to show Oblivion for E3 2005.
