hold on they mentioned the blades so the VGA snow could be a trailer to it, since some blades inhabit cold climates, like the jerral mountains

Actually your very wrong on the demographic, VGA's attract the people who watch spike normally which is the 20-35 year old men who live in their apartments, I've done marketing research so I know a thing or two about demographics.

What marketing indicator correlated specific domicile orientations with gender and age? That is an odd target demographic indeed...

You build off the hype of your previous release and that previous release was FO: New Vegas the video gaming industry generally targets people in the 20-35 range and 14-24 age range.

I agree, that trailer has nothing to do with TES but there is suppose to be a bunch of premiers for new games so I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best.

IGN must be some of the stupidest people on the face of this earth. I'm already sick of this "direct sequel" and "Oblivion two" nonsense. This is what we have to put up with until the announcement.

Remember people: The Blades are not a race of people...

Aha! The dragon lord of blades... I should've known...

Not him again!

I don't get it. Why Black Friday again? How is it in anyway relevant?

I feel like we're grasping at straws for announcement dates. Every week it's something new. After the wholly irrelevant Black Friday Roles around, someones going to guess next tuesday because, "It's the third Tuesday this year with a full moon!" or something.

Yeah, the idiocy of the "direct sequel" misinterpretation is insane. All it means is that it's not a prequel or expansion.

Yeah, but Fallout is more in the demographic that the VGAs attract. These are 14-18 year old boys with hormones and a thing for guns and heavy explosives. Elder Scrolls isn't that type of game. If they do announce Elder Scrolls in December, I think it would be either TGS or a special event. If they do announce something at VGA, I think it will be of the shooter variety or feature briast physics.

Not sure what you're trying to prove.

Oblivion is Bethesda's best selling title and has received numerous GoTY awards. Their demographic is pretty much everyone of the millions of people who've bought Oblivion and Morrowind. I also don't understand how some people think the VGAs are beneath an ES 5 announcement. Mass Effect 3 is likely to be announced- it doesn't get much bigger than that. Last year, the Force Unleashed 2 and Medal of Honor were announced. The first ingame footage of Halo Reach, God of War 3, Uncharted 2, etc were shown at the VGAs. And Bethesda revealed Fallout 3 there, as well.

I'm not adamant that ES 5 will be revealed this year. In fact, I'd like to not believe it because I don't want to hype myself up for disappointment. But it is certainly a possibility. And Kneighly himself has said this is the "best line up ever" for the VGAs.

I'm pretty sure Fallout 3 sold better than Oblivion.

Its not about how much was sold if we ranked that then CODBO would have destroyed everyone but no we compare what the best game is and not to take this off topic but Oblivion is way better then Fallout 3

Ah, I see you're bringing up the "Friday Updates" that were the intermittant updates to Oblivion. ;) Of course, updates came on different days, and half(?) were on Friday. Naturally this lead to the expectation and user assumption that Fridays were update days, even though it never was. (of course I could be wrong, it's been 5 years...)

Also, this is the last of a Blue Moon!

Erm, of course it's grasping at straws; what else is there....fact? :)

My hunch is that there will be an announcement in the next couple months, with release for Summer 2011. This is base soley upon my popping in and out of the past few threads.

It's not, back in August Todd said they had a new engine.

Todd said they've been improving their engine, not that they had a brand new, non-gamebryo one.

Oblivion is way better then Fallout 3

Nobody is saying what game is better than the other except you, all Mr. Tissue Box was saying was that Fallout 3 sold better than Oblivion, and indeed it did.

Why is it being a direct sequel to Oblivion so unbelievable?

Both Wired and Gamespot are also reporting it's an Oblivion sequel so I don't know why they'd all say it if it wasn't from a reliable source.

The problem is the misinterpretation and possibly even mistranslation. Remember, they're all taking it from the same source. On top of that, it's simply a rumour.

However, it's easy enough to realize that ALL TES games are not regarding the game previously made.

The source was http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-11-23-rumour-elder-scrolls-5-in-the-works, which calls the game a 'direct sequel' to Oblivion. This is a misleading way of saying that it is the next Elder Scrolls game, all of which are chronologically sequential (but in no way 'directly' consequential). Mass Effect 2 is a 'direct sequel' to Mass Effect, Uncharted 2 is a 'direct sequel' to Uncharted. It is very unlikely that the Elder Scrolls V will be a 'direct sequel' to Oblivion in this sense.

Well on a similar note all 007 movies were unrelated to the previous ones until Quantum of Solace came around....so you can't really say just because four games in a series were all 'new' the fifth will not be related to the fourth.

I don't care either way, a new Elder Scrolls is a great thing (as long as it's not the MMO! lol. Though I've heard the MMO they're doing with Bungie).

Yeah I've read it in a magazine or heard it in a podcast or something. If you Google Bethesda and Bungie there are relationships mentioned here and there. http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/20369/New-Bungie-IP-Deal-Close-Bethesda-Interested/, http://www.destructoid.com/bethesda-man-only-a-few-publishers-could-afford-bungie-141537.phtml. These are older, but I know I've heard or read something just last month or something that stated that Bethesda and Bungie are working on an MMO together.

And I know Bethesda is working on an MMO, at least because looking at their job openings you'll see many of the job descriptions require a knowledge working with and playing MMORPGs.
Design layouts, quests, and scenarios for our next-generation MMO. This position will work on creating content in specific environments to create a fun and exciting game experience for an innovative and high-profile next generation MMO.

Speaking of, I'd really loooove a job writing for Bethesda but the job descriptions also call for experience in the gaming industry which I don't have...yet.

If this were an elaborate troll, wouldn't a dev make a post to straighten things out?

No, the official word would just be "we don't comment on rumors". That's what officials say no matter what.

I don't care either way, a new Elder Scrolls is a great thing (as long as it's not the MMO! lol. Though I've heard the MMO they're doing with Bungie).

There is no such thing. Zenimax already got their own MMO Studio, http://www.zenimaxonline.com/, and do not need Bungie. Bungie is working with Activision Blizzard, not Zenimax.
