Official TESV Speculation Thread #81

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:57 am

Does anyone know what the record for the shortest timeframe between announcement and release is at the moment for a BGS game? Assuming that they announce at the VGAs - which I don't think is too much of a stretch considering that the VGAs' reputation for big announcements - can we expect a Q1 2011 release? Or is the current record for smallest announcement-release timeframe something like two years that gives us nothing to work on?

Anyway, if we don't get a December announcement or a February GI cover I am going with a 2011 E3 announcement followed by five months of brutal PR and a fall release.

Not that I know anything about marketing...

It's 18 months i think, correct me if i'm wrong. I think Todd genuinly meant that it will be out quite a short time after announcement though.

According to a guy i know, how knows a guy who knew this guy that herd this story about a guy who was sitting behind one of the developers on a plane and overherd them talking and, he said that there not going to to reveal the game till this thread gets to thread #100

Here i have included a chart to express the figures i have calculated to come to support this statement.

http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?chxl=0:|TES%3A+V+Speculation&chxr=0,0,46&chxt=x&chs=300x225&cht=lc&chco=3D7930&chd=s0:Xhiugtqi&chdl=Crime+Rates+In+New+Jersey&chg=14.3,-1,1,1&chls=2,4,0&chm=B,C5D4B5BB,0,0,0&chtt=AtomicAndys+TES%3AV+Speculation+Chart

I hope so. All this TES:V hype has got me frothing at the mouth, and it hasn't even been announced. If they made a glorious spectacle of unveiling the game for the first time and then said that we could expect it in a year I don't think I could cope.

And let's not even begin to imagine the crime spree that I will go on if it has a multiplayer component...

This may be a little unrelated, but I'm confused as to why more people don't jump on the open-world RPG bandwagon. They obviously do very well, and yet there are hardly any games with the amount of customization and open-ended-ness of Bethesda's games. I'm sure Bethesda doesn't mind all that much but they're practically in a monopoly for nearly complete open-world games. Other developers always stuff you into the shoes of the same character or put you on a storyline with multiple endings with a bunch of dialogue choices.

I don't see why Bethesda can do it fairly easily (It started off as a D&D game), but nobody else attempts it. It's not like it's entirely their talent either, there's the Nehrim team who created a total conversion for Oblivion's engine, there are various modders working on different total conversions (including myself), I don't see the reason for the lack of other Open-World RPGs...

I think that's why people are so ravenous for them, only one or two companies create open-world games. I guess what I'm saying has to do with TES:V, and speculation about it, but more of a speculation about the hype behind TES:V than TES:V's content or announcement itself.

Rockstar do it. there are not RPG, but I dream of a TESV with red dead redemption engine...

Still a bunch of people looking at this thread. 34 people. Comon keep us alive (but not with spam... Dont want the place going bad while its a vacation)

But with all of the news about the TES V and everything, do you think that we will be hearing anything about the book really soon before the game. Maby its all hype for the book and not the game.

Oh, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

How funny would it be if they announced that ESV is actually gonna be a really epic book.

Tes 5 will be announced December 2010 - March 2011.
Released June 2011 - Early 2012
Will have an underground Mages guild - rediscover old magic, learn how to fly etc
You could get scars and chop off limbs, will have a gore level to adjust
Will have a difficulty setting - no maps etc for the hardcoe crowd
Better animations, ladders, moving boats
The goal of the game will be to save the world

My specultion I know I will at least get one thing right.

This would be amazing. Honestly I was really diasppointed with Fallout 3's graphics. It seemed to be the exact same as Oblivion, if not a bit worse. And apparently they're using the same engine (although they say they tweaked it a bit) for ESV.

But back on topic, I feel very confident in guessing that it'll be released Holiday Season (Q4) 2011, regardless of when the announcement is. VGA announcement is possible but unlikely.... I think they're going to wait until after the new year to do a GI cover.

From that video... anyone know what it means?

Edit: Link fixed, and it's a 2D barcode thingy. I don't know how to read it, though...

Actually the engine has been completely re-done. Pretty much all of 2009 was spent overhauling the engine (said in an interview somewhere). So yeah i'm expecting it to look quite spectacular. But then again, i've learned that it's not just graphics that immerse you into a game.

"The 2010 “Video Game Awards” will feature global premieres of some of the most anticipated upcoming games, as well as unannounced titles, from some of the industry’s leading publishers."

We've been there and back again with the disapointment of E3. But whenever i see things like that^. I get hope, and hope is seductive....

This is just randomness coming from me which has probly been stated a million times before but I'm gonna say it anyway, IF there is an ES5 which there is absolutely no reason to believe there wouldn't be whether by Bethesda or some other company I atleast want it to feel fresh and new.
