They all still point to the same, single source. There still is no real proof besides the word of Eurogamer Denmark.

It is just a rumour. One that I hope is not true. I did not like oblivion very much. I would much rather see a prequel or sequel to Morrowind.

...

Oblivion was a sequel to Morrowind. Sequel can simply mean that it follows chronologically. Which it did. Same for every TES game.

People are reading far, far too much into the word 'sequel'.

You do realise that Oblivion was a sequel to Morrowind, right? Just because something doesn't carry on directly from its prequel doesn't invalidate it.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't BGS made clear that every Elder Scrolls game is pretty much its own game? They leave continuations to DLC (or expansion packs in the past).

Edit: darn, beaten to the punch

Ok. You are right. I should have specified more what I was saying. I meant it in the way it was used in the article. I would prefer a DIRECT sequel or prequel set in Vvardenfell; instead of one set in Cyrodil. However, I don't know if the province it would take place in was mentioned in the article, but I assumed since it was direct it would be Cyrodil.

Sequel has, and will only ever, mean in relation to timeline. It has absolutely nothing to do with location.

over the last few days, has anyone else felt like this forum is becoming like an old LP with a few scratches?

"...TESV is a direct sequel to Oblivion!
...No its not!
...*skip* direct sequel to Oblivion!
...No its not!
...*skip* direct sequel to Oblivion!
...No its not!
...*skip* direct sequel to Oblivion!
...No its not!"

and so on..... so please please please with a cherry on top & a side of pancakes : lets keep any mentions of the UNSUBSTANCIATED Eurogamer RUMORS to a minimum until there is some EVIDENCE to either prove or disprove it.

Oh really? Maybe that's why i said I didn't know if it was mentioned if it would be set in Cyrodiil or not. I don't get what you are trying to get at now. I already said you were right. All I said is that if there was going to be a direct sequel to any elder scrolls game, that I would prefer it to be Morrowind. I hated the ending to Oblivion. Morrowind's ending was epic and I would love to see a continuation of it.

Anyone speculate as to why Denmark is where the rumor has started?

Danish voice actors for Nords? Or there could be a team over there gathering info and such for that authentic Nord feel.

Edit: Could be trying to stir up interest in Scandinavia, considering it's plausible they've used a lot of RL inspiration. Smallish population, but a lot of money, few hundred thousand extra sales for local hype equals tens of millions of dollars.

They talked about voice acting. It could be that they are making a Danish version of the game with Danish as the language that the people speak... right?

He is probably right. I dont think that they would need to go to Denmark so get the landscape of Skyrim settled down.

Maybe Beth started the rumour and used Denmark as a way to confirm it`s set in Skyrim.

I'm sure there are highlights.

We have a heap of Scandinavians on these forums don't we? Don't be shy, tell us what you think.

How do Europeans feel about American games? English speaking countries pick up on them, but i don't about mainland Europe. Marketing to Asia may be a waste of time, with apathy towards American games in Japan (although the market is growing i hear), and mainland Asia having a big piracy problem.

Western Europe enforces IP laws, probably just as well as the USA. Western and Northern Europe could be a goldmine.

I think Denmark is a beautiful setting, based on some of the pictures I've seen. I loved Bloodmoon when it came out, and I still play on Solstheim occasionally. Based on images of Denmark, my experience in Solstheim, and the description of Skyrim on TES wiki (http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyrim), I think Skyrim would be a wonderful setting both in terms of architecture and geography, not to mention the possibility of werewolves! If Skyrim is indeed the setting of TESV I would be pleased indeed.

I think Denmark is very different from what most people imagine skyrim to be like, which is more like the northern part of norway I guess.

And in the Netherlands we mostly play American games, since most of us speak English better than French or German.

Denmark was a bastion of Nordic and viking culture. It's also where Beowulf was set I believe. It's more than believable that they'd send an artist over there with a camera to take reference photos for old architecture, stuff in museums, and the wilderness.

German people made Nehrim, from what I know of it. Tons of people in Europe play. A bunch of modders are from Europe... somebody was from Austria, can't remember who though...

I went on a forum looking for some info, and it was all in... German, I think? I'm not exactly sure.

But they've already got a lot of people who play there.

So they could have been in Denmark to survey the land for environment ideas for Skyrim or to get authentic sounding voice actors. I really hope it's the latter because that would mean the game is nearly finished.

If they really wanted Skyrim like settings they would go to Norway, or Sweden for that matter. Because Denmark doesn't have that much of snow, or rocky mountains. Anyone who has been to Norway can testify to this. :)
