Official TESV Topic. Yes? No? Maybe?

Post » Thu Mar 25, 2010 8:06 pm

There is NO OFFICIAL Information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TESV will be released. This is where you post any new infomation about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.
It is also where you post your theory of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumor or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when - or if- it is going to be released, it is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be or any other subject of that type, they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1065099. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No Scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, please read them.

Also, the first Elder Scrolls Novel, http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017, and it's release date, November 24th, 2009.
Further, an Amazon plot synopsis that was later removed indicates TES:V will take place 200 years after the events of the Oblivion Crisis. Here is the http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:LTwbGwuYMjgJ:www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/1848566867 of the page via Google archiving.
Mkay, apparently that cache archive has been overwritten. January 6th, 2010: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kotaku/2010/01/06/chatting-with-fallout-and-oblivions-todd-howard, at the 9:30-10:30 mark Todd Howard said: "[...] we spend a lot of time adding to the engine, [...] and we've sort of been doing that with the big new game [we've been] making since we finished Fallout 3. You know we finished Fallout 3 over a year ago so that whole time has been spent re-doing a large part of our basic technology[...]". Essentially confirming that their next big game has been Bethesda's main focus only since Fallout 3 went gold on October 8, 2008, a little more than a year ago. Considering the fact that Bethesda's games take 3-4 years to develop, we may not hear about TESV for some time.

UPDATE: I've zipped and uploaded the Google Archive I saved. Download's http://www.mediafire.com/?zt0jtmunzjj through Mediafire (blech, but unless you guys know of a better free file-hosting service...). Unzip and open the html document to see the confirming archive of Amazon's page.

PLEASE NOTE: AS PER MODERATOR REQUESTS IN THE PREVIOUS THREAD, PLEASE CONFINE THIS DISCUSSION TO SPECULATION TO BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS / TES:V. DISCUSSION OF ZENIMAX ONLINE STUDIOS PROJECTS OR AN ES MMO SHOULD GO IN THE http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1036432

not trying to kill the speculation that developed here but as previously mentioned the tweet said that the gameinformer.com update is going to blow us away. Not the magazine. Sorry, just got tired of everyone saying about how TESV announcement "will blow us away".

Also, it's pretty cool how this thread got stickied. It's as if they are trying to create more speculation.

cool, thanks! I really hope it's something TESV related, even just "TES:V is going to happen" would be enough for me.

An editor from Game Informer had a tweet saying something to the effect that the next gameinformer.com update would blow people away. We have absolutely nothing to presume this "update" has anything to do with TES, so we really ought not give it much weight.

Doesn't it mean that it's the GI site getting updated?

That's how I'd interpret it. It's nothing to get too excited about.

I don't know, there's been a bit of a warm up of things tes related in the last year. Might be a good sign. I don't think I'll be able to run the game when it comes out though...

Keep in mind that if Zenimax are making a TES MMO, it would probably be announced this year, so that may complicate things.

The connection between Zenimax's MMO and TES is an unsupported rumor, and I'd prefer this not get brought up because it causes a lot of confusion.

EDIT: Oops...misread your post.

I kind of think it'll likely be a new site design, because it seems unlikely huge game news would get to them without any other game site/magazine catching wind of it. :sadvaultboy:

Well, heck I just got into Oblivion, so if all this TESV biz is all just fanatical speculations and hype, I'm one of the few equipped to wait on it. :) TES V official announcement would still be awesome.

edit: Oops that was the suggestion posts that has 158 threads, still it's a worthy enough topic to be stickied.

There will be an Elder Scrolls V. It makes money-a LOT of money. If this is being put up they are probably wanting to know community reaction and/or gauge how interested we are. We know it's coming Bethesda. Every 4 years you put out a new ES game: 2002 (Morrowind), 2006 (Oblivion), 2010 (??). I just hope I don't have to get a new computer-again :-) My guess-An announcement on April 1 (a joke) and then a real one in the next month or so.

Possibly, or maybe just another effort (albeit a futile one) to stop people making pointless duplicate threads asking about TES V.

It's interesting they stickied this topic right before they release the last question on that TES quiz on Bethblog.

Maybe they'll connect the question with the announcement in the form of countdown or something.

If .. or better WHEN the last TESting your knowledge question is going to be "What's the name of the world the next Elder Scrolls game will take place ?" I am going nuts (more .. much more than usual).

"Have you SEEN all the rats around here? It's making me CRAZY. First, this guy decides he's gonna make a million, opens a fancy restaurant. Rats in a Cream Sauce. Rat Flambe. Rat Necrom. with Bone Meal Gravy. Deep Fried Rat. Lemon Rat and Wild Rice. Rat Ragu with Powdered Deer [censored]! Of course, when the Guard found out, they ran his sorry butt right out of town, but they left the rats! RATS!!!"

Hopefully, but the no and maybe in the title suggest pure speculation. If it was when and how soon I would have thought differently.

Looks like the topic was unsticked. It was probably just a simple mistake on a mod's part, no need to fill up 2 pages worth of speculation on it guys :P
