Official "The Infernal City": An Elder Scrolls Novel;

Forgot to mention that my own spelling is horrible.

But in any case, there are no lore contradictions, and that's what's important here. I dare anyone to say they've never misspelled something very important.

I once made a typo in a report that was reporting the typo in an Offical thread. :embarrass:

Now, how is Summerset spelt? Summerset, Summurset, Somerset?

EDIT: damn, beaten to it.

As long as it's not Morrowindl. :shifty:

The Summerset Isles have been Summurset and Sumerset on the Arena and Daggerfall race selection map, by the way.

Think of it like medieval Europe: nobody really agreed on how to spell anything. It's kind of a [censored] for us today who like history, because you don't know who's talking about who.

I've never misspelled anything in a published book. :)

Sumer is middle-english for summer, from old norse Sumar and old english sumor, means the same thing. Like now and before it could simply be a dialect diffrence at that time.

Yeah, but Keyes is the new kid, so he's a terrible person for using a different spelling.

Honestly guys, it's not a big deal. If one word being spelled differently is the biggest problem you can find, and have a pathological need to rant about it on the internet... go cry to your moms. Or as it's supposed to be spelled, mums.

Just to make one thing clear: Soulstheim is a typo. Despite it being hard to believe that it got past us due to how often it appears... imagine all the things that didn't get past us that you'll never have to worry about. :)

I am rather disappointed to know this. :( I had convinced myself it was just a different dialect or a change in use of language over time. And I was happier with that than I am this bit of news that, yes, Virgina, there is a spelling error.

*back into my own RP...:bolt:

Summer is such a lovely word, don't you think? :frog:

It looks like TES needs a Tiber Webster... :hubbahubba:

So what happens with the Orcs? Take advantage of the situation to grab some territory? Still serve in the Imperial Legion?

Look, the easiest way to explain my theory is this. Draw up a political map of tamriel, and over the entire Iliac bay region write a big "[censored] this!" it's like it was in Daggerfall, I assume.

I'd include Skyrim in that map too.

Well it's certainly giving this 6 year-old "new" TES writing team a lot of room to develop the next game.

It takes place on several plains of Oblivion as far as i heard, check back a bit there's a description of them.

Pretty detailed, since Hiricine set a trap for them in his realm, and they (Attrebus, Sul, and their khajiit companions) had to escape.

More detailed than the other planes mentioned in the book, but Hircine's plane isn't high on the 'weird crap' scale, compared to the other planes. There's mention of a forest, and savannah, lots of predatory and herd animals, and Hircine evidently leads a hunt every night with him, a bunch of predatory animals, and various lycanthropes driving prey to ground.

The rivers are also made of blood, feces, and other bodily fluids. But mostly blood.

I haven't read the book, so what exactly is that supposed to mean? That whole region is ignored in the book?

High Rock, Hammerfell, and Skyrim aren't really mentioned at all in the book, so it's not really known what's happened to them.

Well, Skyrim was sorta, kinda mentioned in that it's not a fun place to spy on.

So, how about those Senche tigers? I haven't seen this mentioned, but it's pretty interesting how they were described. They're about the size of horses (makes sense, given their use as mounts), and sort of built like a gorilla, with thick 'arms' and smaller hind legs.

It's kind of cool to see that they're not entirely tiger-like. They've still got a slight humanoid (well, ape-like) build, like the other Khajiit. I found that pretty cool.

And how about the first look at the undead that Umbriel creates? Dreughs are explicitly mentioned, but the other sea creatures seem to be (at least it was my interpretation) Sload (giant slugs) and... emperor crabs? (giant crabs with tentacles for limbs)

I liked the senche-tigers, and thought it was interesting how much Keyes went into the Khajiit, as though he just wanted to say "hey guys, I do actually get it." Also, I loled at how surprised Attrebus got when the Ohmes pointed to one of the senches and said "my brother." Riot.

That was cool. I guess it makes sense someone from the other provinces wouldn't be too familiar with the other Khajiit breeds... I wonder what stops the other Khajiit (outside of game mechanics) from showing up outside of Elsweyr in large numbers?

Also, I hope the next game has a Summon Hob spell. :D
