Official When And If We Get Tes V #21

If only others would attempt to contribute to this thread with the same mindset. <_<

Yea, I just found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Howard
read the first paragraph. Thats just silly.

Anyways, as always, this thread is going down a bad path, so we must save it!
I have no evidence to anything at this point, but considering:
There was a book website thet said The Infernal City took place 200 years before the next game. Somebody had to give them that information.
Bethesda has a trademark on skyrim.
A former employee once stated as he left the company he was working heavily on research of Nordic Mythology.
The next Game Informer is suppoded to be awseme.
Bethesda is working on something.

Well, this is Wikipedia and they probably used these forums as their own source in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if the first paragraph of the article on Todd Howard was edited by somebody who has already contributed in this thread.

Yes, it is. He is working on numerous games, and whoever wrote that was no more informed than we are.

This is new to me. Do have anything to back this up?

The next Game Informer is suppoded to be awseme.

This is why we don't joke in the speculation thread. It has now been assimilated into the discussion as legitimate.

I have also read something like this myself. It was a former employee who now works as a freelancer and he was here in the forums. I don't think I can find this thread now because it was a while ago so you will have to take our word for that.

Yes that's true, and the fact that it was taken down so quickly afterwards is fairly suspicious.
Bethesda has a trademark on skyrim.
Also true, however we don't know just what they plan to do with it.
A former employee once stated as he left the company he was working heavily on research of Nordic Mythology.
Didn't hear about that. However, I see below.
The next Game Informer is suppoded to be awseme.
While I want to believe it'll be TES stuff, people have said why it could be other stuff already. Fingers crossed!
Bethesda is working on something.
This is certainly true. And of course, that line from the interview regarding iD states thay had their hands full with "Fallout and The Elder Scrolls."

Now for my addition to this. The last significant, in-character lore addition by the writers was the Aldudugga, a Nordic retelling of the origins of the world. Why would MK have given the fanbase something Nordic if they wouldn't be important soon?

I was wondering something after reading over these threads for the past couple months. A lot of you guys have come up with some interesting speculation.
The trademark thing is great and Skyrim is likely to be used, but is there any way to find out about previous actor/actresses that do voice overs for Bethesda being hired over the last 12 mos to do more voice overs? Just wondering? The voice acting could already be done or nearing completion, even though they are still yet to balance it out and polish it up.

I wouldn't even know where to start looking up info like this. Maybe it's impossible, and maybe you guys have already tried. Just a thought....

ive got a theory...

Maybe they want to shorten the time between announcement - release date, as they know that over a period of time people will become less interested and forget (apart from elder scrolls army of fans :) ). There for the strategy of announcing the game with awesome screenshots, gameplay features and "the game will have this this and this and do that" etc. Try to time it right so that the game comes out while there is hype all around.

PS: i know just about every other game developer announces the game a year - 2 years before the game is released, but i dont know, i'd like to class this as an "outside theory" :)

My guess:

OR we will see an anouncement @ Quakecon / E3 for fall 2011

OR we'll have to wait until the new generation consoles

I think the conventional theory works. It builds more interest. It's a marketing convention for a reason. At first there is an announcement and not too much information and it stays that way for quite a while. People who don't know anything can learn a bit and die hards can get thier glands just wet enough to want more more more. Then there is a some kind of major marketing event that opens up lots - playable E3 demo is a good example. And then, just before release everyone knows almost everything and that last month allows the gamer to imagine what they'll do with the [insert feature here].

Day of release - forums flood with really positive 5 hour reviews, 2nd comers get really stoked! Mega-millions are made!.

Unfortunately, it looks like there will be no Bethesda lovin' at PAX. So we can rule that out for certain.

PAX is going to be very low key this year. Many developers see that E3 is back for good, and are not spreading out announcements as in past years. Expect more announcements at E3 and less in smaller event. Example: we got basically nothing announced at GDC aside from sony revealing move. In past years we got announcements like gears of war 2.

rumors have it
there is a remake of the xbox 360 which will be out
this fall
a slimer box new chip which will tie in with natal
so for those waiting for the 'next' console
before a new release
well, there you have one
i believe this rumor has some validity as they also
predicted the ps3 slim

I heard about that. That's not exactly a new console though, any more than the original PS3 and the current PS3 are different consoles. Alough I certainly hope thios new xbox doesn't red ring as much. The way it was explained to me is that it's like the "slim" PSwhatevers in that if you buy a game for one it'll work on both as long as you have the right equipment (so I'll basically have to find a natal someone with sense threw in the garbage to play some games but others I'll still be fine with my current xbox).

Thank you for the link. Without references, I'm not compelled to give this much credibility but it is nonetheless interesting.

Now the question is WHAT they are developing now? TESV? Another RPG? any ETA for an announcement?

Thanks

Sheesh. Major buzz-kill. Go away, Gstaff. :stare:

Anyways, this series has been too lucrative for gamesas. Kept the lights on in the begining, right? Just one more in the series and we'll shut up about. Deal?

I just thought of something:
Bethesda filed for their fifth extension on the Skyrim trademark on January 30th. Each extension allows for 6 more months time (And then another must be filed). People have said they need to announce TES V before July or so, but aren't there SIX extensions? It means they would have until December, as in July they will do their next extension, and their last, which will give them 6 more months.

Where did you see that they filed for an extension on Jan. 30th?

Trademark site. Under TARR Status under Prosecution status:
2010-01-27 - Extension 5 granted

2010-01-26 - Extension 5 filed

It's also were I've been looking almost every day for First Use Date updates, as that is the first place one will see when they play to use it. Still (DATE NOT AVAILABLE).

You also get some useful information under the TDR tab:
28-Jan-2010 ITU Extension Approval
28-Jan-2010 ITU Unit Action

And if I click on ITU Extension Approval it gives me all the document information, but this is most important:
A Notice of Allowance issued for the trademark application identified below on Jul 31, 2007. The FIFTH request for extension of time to file a Statement of Use has been approved. Applicant must continue to file extension requests every 6 months calculated from the date the Notice of Allowance was issued until a Statement of Use is filed. Please note that a Statement of Use cannot be filed more than 36 months from the issuance date of the Notice of Allowance.

Well, they have a six-month time-period from when they first filed the marks added to their total time delayed, in addition to all the extensions they've filed. But I can't remember if that original six-month interval counts towards their maximum allotted time or not. So I'm not sure if they can file for a sixth one.

EDIT: Bah, you ninja, you.
A Notice of Allowance issued for the trademark application identified below on Jul 31, 2007. The FIFTH request for extension of time to file a Statement of Use has been approved. Based on that, their 36 months from their Notice of Allowance won't afford them a sixth extension, will it?

Nevermind then, you are correct. The notice of allowance was on July of 2007. 36 months (3 years) is July 2010.

We really are detectives, aren't we? Pulling up documentation and all this jazz.

Hopefully we will get something out of them on E3. Only 3 more months! :sadvaultboy:
