Official When And If We Get Tes V #21

Post » Sat Jan 30, 2010 8:19 am

There is NO OFFICIAL Information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TESV will be released. This is where you post any new infomation about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.
It is also where you post your theory of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumor or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when - or if- it is going to be released, it is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be or any other subject of that type, they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1065099. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

No Scans of copy righted material are allowed in this thread. All other forum rules apply. You agreed to them, please read them.

Also, the first Elder Scrolls Novel, http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/0345508017, and it's release date, November 24th, 2009.
Further, an Amazon plot synopsis that was later removed indicates TES:V will take place 200 years after the events of the Oblivion Crisis. Here is the http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:LTwbGwuYMjgJ:www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/1848566867 of the page via Google archiving.

January 6th, 2010: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kotaku/2010/01/06/chatting-with-fallout-and-oblivions-todd-howard, at the 9:30-10:30 mark Todd Howard said: "[...] we spend a lot of time adding to the engine, [...] and we've sort of been doing that with the big new game [we've been] making since we finished Fallout 3. You know we finished Fallout 3 over a year ago so that whole time has been spent re-doing a large part of our basic technology[...]". Essentially confirming that their next big game has been Bethesda's main focus only since Fallout 3 went gold on October 8, 2008, a little more than a year ago. Considering the fact that Bethesda's games take 3-4 years to develop, we may not hear about TESV for some time.

UPDATE: I've zipped and uploaded the Google Archive I saved. Download's http://www.mediafire.com/?zt0jtmunzjj through Mediafire (blech, but unless you guys know of a better free file-hosting service...). Unzip and open the html document to see the confirming archive of Amazon's page.

PLEASE NOTE: AS PER MODERATOR REQUESTS IN THE PREVIOUS THREAD, PLEASE CONFINE THIS DISCUSSION TO SPECULATION TO BETHESDA GAME STUDIOS / TES:V. DISCUSSION OF ZENIMAX ONLINE STUDIOS PROJECTS OR AN ES MMO SHOULD GO IN THE http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1036432

Note: Will add links to old threads later... new forum changed some things. :)

So, is Bethesda confirmed for PAX east? I don't remember where I heard they were, but I also don't know if they were a credible source, whoever they were.

Although I'm a bit disappointed that TES:V wasn't announced today when the forums came back up, I'm still eagerly awaiting.
I'm seriously looking at some solid confirmation at E3, it just seems like it will happen. If not, well, just have to wait longer.
I'd expect a 2012 release, however. Or maybe MAYBE, the very end of 2011. But I expect some info at E3.

A new, fancy forum must be the harbinger for an announcement. This happened at the end of the work week too. So, people mull over the new design over the weekend, and we get a nice announcement on Monday. Yes? Probably? Maybe? Possibly? Even a little bit... ?

I don't know. I think because there are so many forums and subforums, they had to because it was too unweildy. But, if it was also because they planned on adding another subforum...

But, if they are in fact at PAX (working on figuring that out) then they might say something there?

Gstaff said TODAY that the reason they added new forums was so when they added new games, it would be easier to do in the long run or something to that extent.
That leads me to believe that a TES:V announcement is around the corner.

I sure as heck hope so! Not that I don't enjoy reading this thread, but I would LOVE for it to end, and by end, I mean become irrelevant!

I think that it'll be a "same but different" situation. Instead of over-anolyzing everything anyone from Zenimax, bethesda and 2k say waiting for an announcement, though, we'll over-anolyze everything Bethesda says and every scrap of screenshot, concept art and video for content ant release dates :D

Yeah, I get you. Me too. :)

Yeah, pretty much. Every. Screenshot. :thisissparta:

I'll admit it, I dreamt they announced either TES V, or the MMO, last night. I came on, and the forums had some code that you had to crack.
I really did think they were going to announce something, but apparently not.
Anyway, they'll announce the MMO (if it exists) this year sometime...the question is TESV. They must be further along than they implied in January, but how far along? Far enough to be announcing it within the next few months? I've got no idea if they'll announce it this year or next year. The trademark "Skyrim" is the one thing that gives me hope for this year.

I read on these forums that Oblivion was announced about a month after a major forum change. That was from a moderator I believe. I'm not sure if it's correct exactly, but I think there's a bigger chance now that an announcement of ESV is certainly around the corner.

Then again, it could be an announcement of the Zenimax Online MMO.

Well the new forum update would certainly be beneficial to an announcement. No matter if they announce the MMO or TESV, it will all go in the Elder Scrolls forum.

Considering GDC is pretty much over, we've got a few months ahead of us with no major game conferences before E3. Sure, there's PAX East, but if Bethesda didn't announce it at GDC they certainly wont at PAX.

Oh well. Bethesda will announce it when they announce it I guess. The trademark expires sometime in June-August, so hopefully they announce it before then.

Couldn't they just renew the contract/trademark?

No. They have to drop it or file an intent for use.

Is there anyone else out there who thinks it's weirdly ironic that in the official Bethesda forums, there is an administrator-created thread for accumulating speculation on a "rumoured" TES V game......? Maybe it's just me.....

Well they actually can just file for it again, as they allowed the Oblivion trademark to expire before filing for it again. Still, I don't know how long they have to wait before filing for it again.

Leydenne and the rest of the mods are volunteers and not employed by Bethesda. They're just as much in the dark as we are (until Gstaff starts preparing the TES:V Forum, in which case they'll see it before we will :P).

Of course there is going to be a TES V. Pete Hines said as much in a blog post last August. The question is not wether there will be a TES V. It's when will there be a TES V.

Can't remember who it was, but on the site it said, and i quote: "Well for this year we have fallout 3, and next year (meaning 2010) we will have a new Elder Scrolls". What was that all about?

Yes, I realise that. My point is that it is a Bethesda forum, and there is an "official" thread for all the speculation. Just seemed ironic to me......
