Official: When and If We Will get TESV #19

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:10 am

Oblivion came out March of 2006, so they should have even more time

and morrowind came out in 2002.

4 years between games seems like a decent gap, and its 4 years after 2006.

Chances are they gave Obsidian back the rights to Fallout, in order to work on Elderscrolls 5.

Uh... No. That would be a very stupid move for Bethesda. They have no intention of giving up the rights to FO.

I would likely [censored] my pants.

I'm thinking an April announcement is feasible--a couple of months before E3 so they can have a little showcasing. But that's still just hoping.

Why do you people keep forgetting Fallout 3 was developed?...

I can see TES 5 coming out in a decent year or two. It's kind of good it took them awhile because the longer we wait, he longer they get to work on it.

You do realize they are getting sued. If they keep the Fallout title at one point they will start losing money.

Fallout 3 was never developed, its a figment of your imagination.

Was the same team working on both?

They have intention to continue making both Fallout and Elder Scrolls games. They didn't spend tons of money to get rights to FO just to make one Fallout game.

Was the same team working on both?

The team working on the next Elder Scrolls game sure must have been really small, what with Todd Howard saying they just started renovating their engine after Fallout 3 was released, and further confirmation from Pete Hines in the recent OXM podcast that Todd Howard's next game was in the making for one and a half years or something like that.

Wrong, it's Bethesda thats suing Interplay for breach of contract. Interplay did counter-sue, but that was mstly just to slow down proceedings while they try to organise what defence they could against Bethesda's claims.

And since it's a restricted topic, due to various reasons, thats all I'll say.

What do you mean you people?

Anyway, I'm not forgetting about FO3. They've expanded as a company since Morrowind and I'm pretty sure they could have had the early stages of TESV in development while working on FO3.

He means, since FO3 took two years to develop we should wait 6 years after Oblivion for the next TES.

I know what he meant, hence the remark about Bethesda's growth and the possibility of TESV being in early development at the same time as FO3.

Because, then it skews the timetable to make a TESV announcment and release much closer, telling us what we want to hear. Why else? :P

I double checked and it was http://bethblog.com/index.php/2010/02/15/oxm-uk-talks-fallout-new-vegas-with-our-own-pete-hines/

Shame on those that said otherwise. You people call yourself TES fans? :nono:

Based on the time-line I posted in a previous thread, each TES game has a year where it's started, a year where it's developed with no info given to the public, and a year with an announcement. 2009 was the development year, so 2010 should definitely be the announcement year.

My guess may be 2011 or 2012.

Other question for you guys:

Will the next TES be launched in this generation: xbox360 / ps3 / pc ?? Or the next generation?

Definitely this generation, unless of course Bethesda delays it to 2014 or 2015.

Re: Might TES be announced this year?

Well, there's always the deadline for the Skyrim trademark, by which Bethesda has to file a Statement of Use or lose the trademark after filing six extensions. What'd we figure out that was? This fall sometime?

Ah, yes. Here it is. http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1060989&view=findpost&p=15419501 That's when their last extension will run out, if we've parsed through trademark laws correctly. I predict an announcement before then.

But there is the possibility that that is being used for the possible (and likely) MMO.

I don't think so. For example, looking through the half-dozen or so World of Warcraft trademarks brings up this one:
