Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:40 am

There is NO OFFICIAL Information about a new TES game release.

This thread is for member speculation of when and if TESV will be released. This is where you post any new infomation about when it might be released, tidbits from interviews which mention it and such.
It is also where you post your theory of when you think it might come out based on guesses, number crunching, rumor or such.

This is about speculating on the next TES game and when - or if- it is going to be released, it is not a place for discussion of what is going to be in it, what type of graphics there will be or any other subject of that type, they belong in the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1065099. If those kind of posts get raised they will be deleted and the poster warned for going off topic.

Please note that this thread is not a personal chat box and that one liners and posts of little substance will be considered as spam and thus the poster will be subject to warnings and suspensions.

Further, an Amazon plot synopsis that was later removed indicates TES:V will take place 200 years after the events of the Oblivion Crisis. Here is the http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:LTwbGwuYMjgJ:www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Infernal-City/dp/1848566867 of the page via Google archiving.

January 6th, 2010: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/kotaku/2010/01/06/chatting-with-fallout-and-oblivions-todd-howard, at the 9:30-10:30 mark Todd Howard said: "[...] we spend a lot of time adding to the engine, [...] and we've sort of been doing that with the big new game [we've been] making since we finished Fallout 3. You know we finished Fallout 3 over a year ago so that whole time has been spent re-doing a large part of our basic technology[...]". Essentially confirming that their next big game has been Bethesda's main focus only since Fallout 3 went gold on October 8, 2008, a little more than a year ago. Considering the fact that Bethesda's games take 3-4 years to develop, we may not hear about TESV for some time.

UPDATE: I've zipped and uploaded the Google Archive I saved. Download's http://www.mediafire.com/?zt0jtmunzjj through Mediafire (blech, but unless you guys know of a better free file-hosting service...). Unzip and open the html document to see the confirming archive of Amazon's page.

Re: Might TES be announced this year?

Well, there's always the deadline for the Skyrim trademark, by which Bethesda has to file a Statement of Use or lose the trademark after filing six extensions. What'd we figure out that was? This fall sometime?

Ah, yes. Here it is. http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1060989&view=findpost&p=15419501 That's when their last extension will run out, if we've parsed through trademark laws correctly. I predict an announcement before then.

"Todd Howard and his group are hard at work on multiple projects."

--Pete Hines (OXM UK Podcast 1 2/15/10 16:20)

TESV anyone? :hubbahubba:

EDIT: Also, when asked about ESV...
"Sounds like a good idea. Soon as I get back I'll get people looking at a [unintelligible]"

Why so quiet Bethesda, seriously? Why can't you just say, "yes we are working on TES V"

In the new podcast, Pete Hines says:

40:19 "That's why Todd Howard and his group have been toiling away for a year and a half, a couple years now on new projects"

And earlier in the podcast he confirmed that they're working on multiple projects. Bethesda has said before that they started working on a new game after Fallout 3 was released, which was about 16 months ago. That's pretty close to a year and a half, so I take this as yet another confirmation that they didn't start serious development of TESV until after Fallout 3 was announced.

As for the multiple projects thing, remember that while it could mean TESV and Fallout 4 are being worked on at the same time, they're also possibly working on a http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_iPhone_game and a http://greenlightgamer.wordpress.com/2009/09/24/microsoft-announces-natal-partners/.

EDIT: Also, when asked about ESV...

Aye, that it would be. In Bethesda world we have to scrap for rumors based on info leaked in a court case

anyone else find it a little odd that Todd and Pete doing all the podcasts all of a sudden? After staying silent for so long, and we have gotten slight tidbits of hints recently like "our next big game" or these recent ones. Imo gearing up for an announcement by building steam anyone?

Apparently bethesda has been updating the engine according to what todd howard said in a few podcasts so that either means there preparing for future games or there developing games (hopefully TESV)

No. Even though they have nothing to give, in terms of their own in house games, they still have plenty of light to shine on New Vegas. That and they have to keep up their relations with the media world or else nobody is going to care about their two secret games that they're making! :P

I doubt it. Bethesda has never* announced one of their titles at E3. It's their trend to officially announce it via an issue of Game Informer, combined with an update to their site.

*Speaking about the actual Bethesda-developed titles, of course.

If we really want to get into specifics, with Oblivion and Fallout 3, Bethesda announced each game online first, then when that month's Game Informer came out they had a cover story for the game.

But it's safe to assume they'll do the same thing again with TESV. I personally will subscribe to Game Informer the split second I find out they made an announcement, so I can get the magazine ASAP. And even if they don't give Game Informer a cover story this time, it's still a good magazine, so I wouldn't really be wasting money anyway.

Me too. I really hope to see a TESV. It's such a popular series so they can't just let it die.

Well also if you listen to the way Todd answered the ES V question. When he said as soon as he gets back he will have people look into it. He answered it very sarcastically if you listen and its sounded like hey no duh man thats a great idea we are way ahead of you. :) just my speculation

No, I think the ESV question made Todd realize that fans want a new ES game. Since they just figured that out, I'm going to predict a 2013 announcement and a 2014 release. Expansions and such to follow.

Since they just figured that out

I find it rather doubtful that Todd and Bethesda needed a misquoted QA session which the internets reacted badly towards for them to figure out that Bethesda fans want another TES title. :P That desire is pretty much a measurable constant at all times, known by everyone at Bethesda at all times.

Please tell me that's sarcasm?

He sat there for a few minutes talking about how he knows there is a market for TES games and that they knew Oblivion would do well. Of course they know fans want a new game, and I'm sure they are working on one.

They probably won't announce it at E3, considering past traditions, but I think we may have an announcement before E3 and have the game showed there. Bethesda is on the line-up of developers that will be showcasing there, and they've been in the works on a new project since the release of Fallout 3. I'm guessing that their new title is TESV. It wont be Fallout 4 because New Vegas is being released at the end of this year, 2 years after F3. Whatever game they are working on will likely be released in 2011, and another fallout game would be too soon after FNV. I highly doubt they are working on a new franchise, it would likely take them much longer, and we are due for another ES game. Pete has always been vague/sarcastic when asked about development of ES games, and they always keep it well under the radar until they are ready to announce. I would bet money that we'll see TESV in 2011.

They surely must be almost done. I want it now! :ahhh:

I concur. I don't know how soon it will be since they started doing all this New Vegas hype seemingly out of nowhere...

He better... :stare:

I thought it was Pete talking on the podcast...

Idk, I'm a bad TES fan, I always get them confused... :P

Oh yea, btw, http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/02/16/microsoft-reps-predicts-natal-will-have-five-year-lifespan.aspx that TESV will probably be on this generation of consoles (unless they wait forever for it to be a launch title; I mean we'd be talking like 2015 at the earliest).

I reckon 2011. It has to be 2011, or 2012 when the game comes out. Will we get it? Definitely, they confirmed they haven't ditched there franchise in a couple interviews last I recall.

Chances are they gave Obsidian back the rights to Fallout, in order to work on Elderscrolls 5. Oblivion came out in 2007 (correct me if im wrong), so by now they probably have a good amount of it planned. Its just programming and the extras that they need to start working on I think.

It has to be out soon... the question is. Will we be getting a proper expansion to the game!
