Official: When and If We Will get TESV #20

Post » Wed Jan 20, 2010 11:29 am

Yeah agreed they, may have it under wraps because all they have is an early build. They could take their timee make the best game they can possibly make then release it.How can somebody lose interest in something when no info is presented all there is is rumors and such,I don't understand but ok.As far as its release I hope its soon I hope they improve on every aspect of the game to make it as epic as it should be.

I know that Bethesda is confirmed to be involved in some sort of Natal game, though it's unknown if it's being developed by Bethesda Game Studios or simply being published by Bethesda Softworks. But I really doubt that that game is TESV, and I doubt that Natal will be used for TESV. Todd Howard thinks the Wii is a kids toy, so he probably doesn't like motion controls very much, so I don't think he'd put any form of motion control into a title as big as TESV. Maybe for a standalone TES game like Redguard, but not for something like TESV.

Is anyone else totally sick of all the motion control games, 3D movies, and all those gimmicks? Imagine TES with motion controls... 200+ hours waving your arms around in your living room. Not to mention it would be incredibly difficult to have some of the game mechanics mods (combat overhauls, etc), and would add yet another cost onto the PC community. When I set down to a TES game I want to sink in and explore the world at my leisure, and that's what the TES games have been the best at, and that's basically the complete opposite of what motion controls deliver.

They could be there to talk about/show off Fallout: New Vegas.

Not likely, if Obsidian E. is there too... Are they there?

If they're not announcing ESV at E3 2010, what are they announcing there?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E3_2010#Notable_exhibitors_list

Bethesda Softworks is going to be there, so they could be talking about:

-Fallout: New Vegas
-Brink
-The Natal game
-The TES MMO
-TESV

Obsidian isn't going to be there so they're probably just there to show off Brink and New Vegas.

My guess is Brink, maybe with some brief mention of FO:NV... Their twitter feed seems to talk about Brink quite alot so it's their current Golden Child if it were.

As for project Natal, I'll believe that when I see some sort of demonstration that doesn't involve scripted actors presenting a "what if" situation. Maybe I'm just jaded from seeing failed attempts on a similar line, like Playstation's Eyetoy, Sega's Activator, and other horrible failures. Such a game would also not be possible for the PC, so would essentially be one big giant "F U" to PC gamers and Modders that would certainly not end well. If it were EA we were talking about, I could see it happening, but gamesas has shown a bit more intelligence in this sort of thing, so it's highly unlikely.

No, at least they aren't under the exhibitor list for E3. It seems Bethesda will be representing Fallout NV. However its not like its impossible for them to show off more then one game. And if they don't announce anything about TES 5 by the end of the Bethesda conference the whole crowd should start to chant "T-E-S!T-E-S!!!" (Even though this will probably accomplish nothing)

However I did find something interesting. In that site under latest media for TES 5 there's a video that's been removed entitled The Elder Scrolls V Discussion Part 1,2, and 3. I wonder if it was just a hoax or if it was actually removed for a reason?

One of its tags is humour, and that was August last year, so I'm more than a bit skeptical.

It is also quite possible they show off Brink and a new title (tes V) since the two games appeal to completely different demographics.

I gotta say, I'm really losing interest. TESV used to be my most-wanted game, now it's just "eh." I'm sure once it's announced I'll get hyped again, but for now, I'm tired of waiting for news.

It might not be the best form, but I do not think that honest opinions are unwarrented.

I read on these forums that the developers sometimes come here ana read this stuff so i wonder if people come on here and post "im losing interest" to try and pressure them into making an announcment. If that is the reason some of you keep coming on here and saying your not interested anymore think about what you would think if you were a developer. If i were on bethesdas staff and reading this id laugh my ass off.The fact that your posting stuff on this forum proves your still interested.I'll lose interest when somebody else starts making games that are even comparable to bethesdas.I'm still interested in a new star wars battlefront and its been like six years.

Maybe a few years ago, but not much now. The only developers who come around here are in the Fallout:NV section, and aren't gamesas. The devs are simply too busy with the other projects they're working on to check up on or comment on a game which is no longer receiving any official support. The DLC page has been down for longer than a year, clearly interest in anything related with Oblivion has long since moved on. They even allowed and endorsed a book to be written which just seems too much like 3rd rate fanfiction.

Quite to the contrary. I lurk on this thread on a daily basis and I can certify that I frequently see devs poking their heads in here every now and then. Perhaps not every day, but about once a week I'll see a dev. To your credit I agree that their presence does seem to be diminished compared to several years ago; it would be welcomed to see them around more often. However, I can understand why they'd control dev involvement because in the past they've gotten themselves into a little bit of hot water with revealing too much information that ended up misleading some people and causing them to be disappointed with the game (ahem...Oblivion anyone?).

A little bit a a difference between saying 'Hey, we're working on a new ES game' and actually demo'ing a product @ E3 and then quietly shipping something less.

Definitely, if you watch the vids after playing the game through, you will see exactly how much they decided not to finish or implement.

Listening to the podcast Kotaku did with Todd Howard recently. Very interesting stuff in there. Especially the part where he mentions major changes to basic stuff in the engine. And loads of attention to animations.
This makes me wonder though, at what time did Bethesda aquire ID? And could it be possible that they use Euphoria this time around? I know Euphoria and Gamebryo are listed partners or something. That would be amazing!
Dynamic animations are really what they need the most I think.

Last night I dreamt that Todd let me demo TES 5. I only got to play a ridiculously small portion and the game was not even close to being done, but the fact that I was laying it brought tears to my eyes and it looked beautiful. Also it didn't seem to be a sci-fi fantasy game. I think this dream will keep me a TES fan for the next 7 months at least, despite what all the naysayers and deserters say.

I sincerely doubt that. They have the rights to Fallout, but New Vegas is not their game. If Obsidian is not there, it will likely not get shown at all.

There are non-TESV games Bethesda could talk about, but then again, as a big name in the business now they are expected to knock people socks off at E3, and the best way to do that is to either announce or show stuff from their "secret big project." As people have said, unless it's a new IP it will likely be TESV.

Don't get your hopes up. Bethesda may not be developing New Vegas, but as the publisher, it's their whole entire job to shamelessly promote it. Just as it's their job to shamelessly promote every other game they're currently publishing.

Not to mention that none of their in-house projects were announced at E3.

That's right, though there's more to it. Bethesda Game Studios is our in-house developer here at ZeniMax HQ. We also have Vir2L in the building - they focus more on mobile products and family titles.

Of course, Bethesda Softworks also publishes external projects (Brink, Fallout: New Vegas, WET -- for example). And also, with ZeniMax's acquisition of if Software, Bethesda Softworks will publish their games, such as RAGE. Oh yeah, and then there's ZeniMax Online Studios, who are currently working on an unannounced MMOG.

So what are 'your' thoughts on a TESV release?
