Oghma infinium patched?

Post » Wed May 11, 2016 11:32 pm

So, Ive put 1000 hours into morrowind on the original xbox. 600 hours into oblivion on xbox 360. and 1000 hours into skyrim on ps3.

in other words... ive never modded or console command cheated. (though i want to).

on my first playthrough of skyrim i figured out the ohgma infinium glitch on my own. but reloaded and never actually did it, so i could level up correctly. always keeping it in my back pocket for the day i wanted to do a console version of god mode....

in fact, i recently started a new guy and started barreling through the main quest to get to the ohgma and glitch to level 100+. but after like 6 hours i decided to go another route, so i started another new character, got the book while still level one. did the quests to get honeyside and have my own bookshelf. leveled up to 15 casting muffle and training with feandel. (the archery trainer from riverwood).... just to find out the glitch has been patched....

what the hell.

since when does bethesda fix glitches.

and why now.

i just spent ten hours just working toward that goal, and boom. patched. what the hell.

svcks to be me.

im so pissed i actually think i might never play skyrim on console again. in fact... i wont. what the hell bethesda?

im just upset and wanted to complain somewhere. so thanks for hearing me out.

anyone else pissed that this was patched?

please give me solace by letting me know im not alone in this.

Been patched for a while now, I think. Why wouldn't they patch it? It's an aspect of their product that didn't function correctly...

Complain about being hung with a new rope?

Seriously... 4 years on the 360 and I never once used that glitch... only one I ever used was the chest in Dawnstar....and that's patched on PC with USLEEP... not going to complain that they fix problems... even if they are glitches that people exploit.

Bethesda can't win. If they don't patch, people complain. If they do patch, people complain.

That glitch was fixed with the last patch, more than three years ago.

- below i have rewritten my original post so yall can better understand it-

im upset that i wasted ten hours working toward the specific goal of abusing the ohgma glitch. just to find out it doesnt work anymore. as someone who has never used console commands or mods, it would be nice to have an option to max out a character without having to put 500 hours into it. it would be nice if they left that one in for those of us on consoles.... thats all im saying. and disregarding you all, im certain there are people out there who agree.

... that being said...

kane- all bethesda games are littered with bugs and glitches they will never fix. if you dont agree, explain the unofficial patches.

pseron - i can tell from your post youve been to this forum before... i can tell because ive seen that post in these forums before.... a thousand times.

areial - i dont understand your rope anology... the anology is 'ive arrived at the train station just to find out it hasnt been running for years'. try that out...

glargg - .... ok. thanks for the update? obviously im well aware it was patched before now.

10 hours isn't all that much. If you're hell bent on having a god character, just do the resto-loop and you'll get far better results. And, yes, they do tend to patch exploits when they can (see FO4 forums for a reference).

The resto loop doesnt work as well in terms of perk abuse. Which is what i was after. (maybe it does... Ive never been interested in trying it). I assume many but not all skills can be fast leveled with that exploit. I mean sneak is still gonna take a long time to level to 100 right? Weapons and Armor are easy enough without the resto-loop, I was looking to fully perk a character out. As even after 1000+ hours there are still some perks I never got around to trying out.

And fair enough on exploit patches. Though the resto-loop is proof that they dont patch em' all. And still, I wish they would've left the ohgma exploit in.

You'd still have to level your combat skills. But, if you do it right, you can fortify health an item so high that you'd basically be invincible. But, where's the fun in that?

There is a "work-around" on PS3 for the Oghma Glitch if you still want to use it...go into the "Save DATA" files on the ps3 and delete the Skyrim UPDATE data that is there it will revert the game back to the original config. when you restart the game it will say Update Version found Version 1.09 do not accept the update just use the O button to by-pass the update and launch the game normally... then just go and do the Discerning the Transmundane quest like you would normally you will be able to tell if it is working by the appearance of Hermeous Mora when you are leaving Septimus's cave if he appears looking like the big.purpleish Ball instead of the eyes/tentacles look that happens after the update is installed Then you just do the glitch, save at level 81 quit the game, restart and THEN let it update,,,,Voila, good to go at level 81....... :goodjob:

This also allows you to do the "Black-Briar Meadery Glitch to level "speech" as high as you need to get your level up to 15 so you can complete the Oghma quest.

edit - its under 'GAME DATA UTILITY' not 'save data'.

If your desperate to level up using exploits on console fast just grab the staff of paralysis from snap leg cave east of Ivarstead and just sneak paralyse trainers after you have paid for training then loot them as they are getting up. If done correctly you won't get fined and they will act like nothing happened. Not quite as fast but still better than nothing. Otherwise I think you can edit saved games with things like Modio if you have a PC version also, then just switch it back. Im not sure if bethesda frown on this though, I mean they do allow modding of the PC version. Reverting back to older patches I'm pretty sure will require a new game.

now, I don't approve of cheating or exploits (takes the fun out of the game IMHO, to me its about the journey, not the destination), but Sneak would be the easiest to max

go to that cave east of whiterun (the one with the blind guy), pick the option where the blind man doesn't attack you, go into sneak behind him, turn on auto-run, and just run into the wall.. go grab a bite to eat, and when your back Sneak will have gone up by quite a bit
