Oil Stones

Oil Stones City.... Google it :P I haven't posted in a while, so I don't know if this will be my best stuff... But, well, at least it's something I suppose. This chapter may be ugly, and full of dialog. But of course it will get more descriptive, and mysterious :D

Oil Stones: The City in the Middle of the Sea

Daniel breathed in like he hadn't taken a breath in hours. It sounded harsh, and painful. He coughed blood and vomit; which just barely missed the man that saved his life. Daniel's chest and ribs hurt, and he knew why almost instantly. He was soaking wet, and badly beaten and bruised.

The man looked over Daniel, now, with a giant smile on his face; almost from ear to ear. “Well you're definitely alive, friend.” He said, in a very Russian accent, “My name is Lev.”

Daniel just laid, and tried to catch his breath. He clenched his sides, and grunted in slight pain. He forced himself to sit up, and look around. He saw water, a lot of water. He looked in the opposite direction, and saw the same thing: Ocean. He was sitting on a solid concrete road.

“Where am I?” Daniel said, making a noise and reaching for his side. Lev frowned.

“Oh no. I must have cracked your rib, please forgive me. You came up on a half-sunken life raft, it's amazing you're still alive, man.” Lev replied, “Oh, um, welcome to Oil Stones. The city in the middle of the sea.”

Daniel looked down the road he was sitting on in both directions. The road stretched out a very long way, and there were large buildings on each side of him. Daniel smirked, “A city? In the sea? Impossible...”

“You'd think so,” Lev replied, “But you're American.”

“What does that mean?” Daniel snapped.

“It means you don't know what the USSR can do. These steel poles go hundreds of feet underwater, and hold up an entire oil city.” Lev said, proud.

Daniel laughed, “Oil? There's no oil left in the ground!”

Lev shook his head, “Like I said. You're American.” Lev reached out, and grabbed Daniel's hand. He helped him to his feet. Daniel, again, went for his side. “It'll heal, we've got doctors don't worry.”

“Why am I here?” Daniel asked, hoping for answers.

Lev examined Daniel up and down, and said, “By the looks of it, I'd say you're a pilot in the Resource War.” Daniel was wearing an olive jumpsuit, with patches decorating his chest. “Did you come from the coast?”

Daniel shook his head, “The Hell if I know... Wait, you're a [censored] commie. Why didn't you just let me die?”

“I'm not apart of the Soviet Army, uh, what's your name?” Lev said.

“Daniel White.” He looked down at a patch on his jumpsuit, “Apparently that's Sergeant Daniel White.”

“Well!” Lev said loudly, “Sergeant Daniel White, I welcome you to Oil Stones. I promised you a doctor, yes? I know one that will hear an American.” Lev kept the smile on his face the whole time.

Daniel shook his head, then sighed, “What am I doing here?” He said to himself. Daniel heard radio static, and looked at Lev. Lev frowned, and faced away from Daniel. He spoke into the radio on his shoulder.

“What do you mean you lost contact with the coast?” He listened to the other side of the radio, “I found someone who may have come from that direction. He's suffering a bit of amnesia at the moment, he might remember and tell us what happened; if he came from the coast.” There was another pause, “No, he's American.”

Radio silence.

Lev looked at Daniel, “Come on. I helped you, now you can help me and remember where you came from."

Lev escorted Daniel to a nearby car. It wasn't American, so Daniel had no idea what kind of vehicle it was. It was pretty much a box with wheels, though. Lev sped down the road, the lost connection must have been important.

Daniel looked out the window, still trying to remember anything that happened. He couldn't see land anywhere; only water. He noticed machines pumping Oil from the ground, and couldn't believe his eyes. Everyone thought there was none left in the Earth. That was the whole point of the Resource War, after all. He figured that was the reason he was flying around the Soviet Union. Daniel started to remember something. He told Lev, "I was a pilot, uh, I think. Of a big, big plane. I don't know what kind it was. The memory is kind of vague, y'know? We were definitely flying over your country... What's the date, Lev?"

"It's October. The 23rd." Lev replied. The date rung a few bells in Daniel's mind. But he couldn't remember what was so special about it...

Lev put the pedal to the floor, speeding down the road at near top-speed. I reached for the handle above the door, just to find it wasn't there. I clenched the door grip as hard as I could, and bared my teeth. How fast did this Goddamned car go? It looked like we were traveling through a worm hole, looking out the window.

“Something wrong, friend?” Lev said, looking at me, confused.

“Why are you going so fast, Lev? Jesus! Look out.” I flinched, and covered my face.

It looked like Lev flew straight into a building. We went right through it. I started to choke on something, and felt a burning at one specific point in my esophagus. I coughed loudly and painfully, covering my mouth with my hand. The world started to spin around me, as I continued to cough. I looked at my hand, and yelped at the sight of a small puddle of blood.

I grabbed Lev with my unbloodied hand, and started to breath like I was having an anxiety. I said, “Lev... Help me.” Before everything just stopped, and went dark.

______

“I'm afraid, that... I was correct when I said something bad happened on the shore. Now, there's a small chance I could be wrong. But it's tiny. Just by this man's injuries, I know what happened.” Some voice said. It was very English sounding.

I heard Lev, “How is that possible, Cole?” Lev put a lot of emphasis on the “l” in Cole.

“His blood might as well be green, and oozing from all the holes in his body, Lev. He's got so much radiation in him, you'd think he'd become a squid monster by now.” The man said. I guessed his name was Cole...

I moaned, and tried to move. I could, but barely. My muscle were so relaxed, it was obvious I was given some sort of drug. Cole stepped over to me, and helped my sit up. He propped me up on the wall, I did all that I could. He smiled, the same smile Lev gave me.

“How's it going, Daniel?” Cole said, nicely.

“What happened on the.. sh..sh..” My throat swelled, and burned some more. I calmed down, and started to breath heavily out of my nose. Taking a deep breath, I said, “Radiation?”

“You know exactly what happened, Daniel.” Cold frowned, “It's all crammed up in that head of yours somewhere! And you're not going to leave until we all figure it out.” Cole said happily, with a smile. Like he was talking to a child.

“Not going to leave where? The hos...pi...tal?” Something was wrong with my throat. It was obvious. I tasted blood.

“The city.” Cole frowned now, “And I can tell something is up with your throat? It's a condition that might follow after radiation treatment. You've had a little more than needed, to call it treatment, however.”

“What happened!” I yelled, suddenly getting full control of my muscles. I grabbed the doctor, by the arms, and pulled him closer. I started to choke, and cough. But I kept my mouth closed for it all. My eyes watered, I started to sweat even more than I already was.

The doctor reached for his pocket, and pulled out what at first I figured was some sort of syringe with something to sedate me. But a surge went through my whole body, and I twitched, and shook. I fell back down on the bed, shaking from the tazer.

Cole yelled, “Nurse! Get in here and make sure this man doesn't leave his bed.” The doctor pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, and wiped his forehead. He walked out of the room, and past a nurse rushing in.

Silent, she came up to the side of the bed and grabbed something underneath it. She pulled up a long leather belt, and put it around my lower legs, and to the other side of the bed. She wrapped it around something on the other side, and pulled tight on it. She moved up to my arms and chest.

Why can't I move? Move. Move.

I purposely blew out of my nose hard. I looked the nurse in the eye, and whispered, “H-h-help.”

The nurse frowned, and bent over to grab the belt. I could feel my muscle relax. It hurt from how bad they had tightened up. I pushed myself up with my right arm, just as the nurse had stood up with the belt in her hand. Her eyes widened, and she breathed in about to yell something.

My arm lunged forward, and I grabbed her by the throat. I didn't want to be any more rough than I had to be. I put my other hand to my lips, and tried to shush her. “Sh, sh, sh, shhh.” She just squeaked. “I'm not staying here.” I said.

Still holding on to the nurse, I moved my legs off of the bed slowly. It noticed then I pissed myself from the tazer. I was wearing a patient's gown. I walked towards the window in my room, staring at the nurse.

“Does this open?” I said, pointing to the window. The nurse squeaked, and shook her head best she could. I let go, and pushed her towards the door.

I pulled away the curtains, and looked out the window. I spoke to my self, stuttering the first D, “Dammit!” The room I was in was a few stories up. How is this all built on a dock in the sea?

I shook my head, and looked around the room. There was always a desk and chair in a hospital room. I jumped over to the chair, and grabbed it. With one quick motion, I threw the chair at the window. It shattered, just as a gust of wind hit it. The curtains flew out, along with a ridiculous amount of glass.

Closing my eyes, I darted forward, and took a leap of faith.

Is non-elder scrolls/fallout fanfiction allowed on BGS? Either way it's good.
